Chapter 10: Unrequited love
In fact, the proposal had something to do with Astrophysics and Quantum physics, which Einstein could help greatly. Y/N spoke up after making eye contact with her boss,
"It would be a pleasure if you could help provide any of your contacts. These scientists are fresh graduates and an expert like you would be appreciated."
"Oh, my~ This is giving me trills. Yes, yes. I would gladly do so. However, could we make an appointment to further discuss in detail?"
She pulled out a beige journal with a calendar in it. Y/N had purchased it mainly due to the fact that her pink notebook doesn't suit Daisuke when he holds it. She also realised that Daisuke never jotted down his appointments and meetings, which meant that she had the job to make sure he never missed any—although the majority of the time he would forget to tell her but still magically attend them. Daisuke peered down at the journal that had some doodles and personal notes for herself like 'Go buy some milk for the second time this week'. His long finger pointed to date, making her nod.
"Is Thursday fine with you? Mr. Kanbe is free from 9 am to 6 pm."
"Ah, yes! Let's make an appointment at 3 pm. Could you send me an email as a reminder?"
"Yes, Mr. Einstein, I will do so."
Her pen that had a fluffy ball on top of it jiggled as she noted down seriously. Suzue was admiring how adorable the Omega was and how her older brother gazed at her. Now she was able to make fun of him. The soup arrived and Y/N marveled at the delicious pumpkin soup that glimmered under the light. With all courtesy, the four of them started to eat. Einstein chuckled and looked straight into Daisuke's eyes,
"You've got yourself a good secretary, if I may say."
"Yes, Mr. Einstein. I am genuinely satisfied with her help."
She did not hear what they were saying because the taste of the warm soup was filling up her stomach. Her orbs made contact with the female, flinching slightly when a stunning smile was plastered on her face.
Does Ms. Kanbe... Suzue needs something from me?
Daisuke just softly remarks,
"Don't mind her. She just came because I'm paying for the food."
Suzue gave a thumbs up and patted her mouth with the white napkin. Each food that came made her eyes sparkle. Never once in her life did she have such fancy yet tasty food. If it was possible, she had several foodgasms. Suzue looked at her brother,
I want to steal her.
Don't you dare.
Aww but she's cute.
She's mine. Back off.
It was a true mystery how siblings could communicate that way. After the meal, that was easily considered brunch or even an 'early lunch', they headed back to work. Suzue tapped Y/N's shoulders before they could leave, giving her a card before winking.
"Let's hang out one of these days~"
"Y-Yes, S-Suzue!"
Daisuke glared,
"Suzue, she's a busy woman."
"Aww~ Don't be jealous brother, I just want to take her out for shopping... Unless you're scared she'd fall right into my strong arms~"
"Weekend. Y/N, I do not want you to go have fun during work times. It's work for a reason."
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows,
"Of course! I wasn't thinking of going on a workday!"
A soft sigh escaped Suzue's lips,
"I guess she's already taken, huh?"
The two looked at her as if she was crazy. They were not together but had mutual feelings.
"Daisuke, you just called her by her first name."
Shit, I just slipped up.
He grabbed his sister's hand with a strong grip that Y/N could swear that she saw both their arms pop up with veins.
"You'd better keep quiet about it."
"You'd better take good care of this Omega or I'm flying down to take her."
"Find your own Omega."
Y/N felt like a puppy between two tigers. Her arms swatted, trying to get the two of them to separate which they finally did—and it was not due to her own efforts. Daisuke and Y/N hopped into the car and drove back to the office to continue work. The day went by as per usual, him reminding her to be extra careful with her surroundings. Y/N stretched her arms behind her back as she walked out of the office building, looking up at the dark sky that reminded her of the day her parents passed on. This debt was an obstacle she had to get around but it seemed like her life was going to plan. A jingle from a set of keys sounded next to her ears, startling her as she craned her neck to look at the person.
"I'll drive you back."
The day wasn't a good one for every single person. Haru trashed around his apartment, smashing items and things that reminded him of the person he loved since childhood.
Why can't we be together?! Why is the world so cruel?!
Haru had to come in terms with his unrequited feelings... for that man.
