Day 7

It was a chilly Saturday day when my lovely sister stepped inside my house, the one I used to share with my beloved once. It had been a long time since she visited me the last time.

After a long talk about our childhood and grieving over my husband's death, she finally decided to break the ice.

"How can you act like you don't know anything?" She asked coldly looking straight into my eyes. She was calm but her eyes were saying more than the words she had just uttered.

I stared back into her eyes. She had a very exquisite pair of green eyes unlike my dull brown ones. Reminded me of nature and horizon. No wonder the boys always used to chase after her all the time during high school. I was reminded of that fact once again.

"I don't know. Maybe learnt from you." I answered smiling and taking a sip from my tea. “You're the older one after all. Must be something that runs in the family.”

"You think I don't know anything? Like everyone else? I've known you for my entire life. I know you better than anyone. You can't fool me." She snapped and glared at me. "Why did you do this?"

"I wonder what it was..."

"H-how can you do this!" She suddenly lashed out and started whimpering while ignoring me. "T-to your own husband! He l-loved you! You know that, right?!"

"Was it your incisive mindset or your beautiful green eyes that made him fall for you?" I finished earning a wide eyed reaction from my lovely sister.

She sat there thunderstruck for a while. None of us spoke. While I kept sipping on my tea, she didn't even touch the cup that was placed in front of her on the table. Or the cookies I made for her.

She was one smart girl.

Then she stood up with shaky legs and with some quick long strides she reached the door.

"Y-you knew t-this... didn't you?" She turned to me for the last time with wide frightened eyes, bringing out the green of her eyes. She looked at me scared.

As if I was some sort of murderer.

Now I'm the murderer when they were the ones who murdered my happiness.

"Yes, dear." I said calmly. "From the very beginning. It was not you guys who outdid me. It was me."

She strode out of the house without another word. She really was a smart girl.

I won.

Or did I?
