Chapter 21. Attempting
I tugged on Sideswipe's arm and pointed at his sword as he turned. "Please... teach me," I said, grabbing his sword and handed it to him. "Amethyst, we have talked about this. No," he stated. "Please, Sideswipe. I feel fine," I stated. "You're not fine and I am not going to teach you," he stubbornly said. "I can do some moves... you'd want to see them?" I asked, trying to grab his sword but he pushed me aside. "No." I grunted and stepped back. "Sideswipe... just let me show you what I can. Please. I want to show you." He ignored me.
"Sideswipe––" Sunstreaker interrupted me. "Amethyst!" his voice sounded warningly and he gave me glare. I shut up and sat back down again. Sideswipe on the other hand leaned against the wall and spoke in Cybertronian with his twin. I hate it when they do that, I want to hear what they are saying. "Can you learn me how to speak Cybertronian? Or understand it?" I asked. Both their eyes landed on me. "I don't think you can," Sunstreaker eventually replied. I jumped on my feet, insulted. "Is that a challenge?" I asked. "No, a fact."
His brother chuckled. "Alright, then I am going to show you wrong, but first, there's something else I need to do," I said and marched over to the door. "What are you up to?" Sunstreaker blocked my way and pointed his pencil at me. "You can't and won't leave," he said. For a couple of second I stared at him. "You can stick the pencil in your ass, now move out of the way!" I snapped. "Amethyst," Sideswipe warned. "What? That's what he said to me as well," I snapped.
"Yes, because I was mad."
"So, am I!"
"What are you up too?"
"I am going to find Prowl."
"Why?"
"Tell him what an asshole you are!"
Sideswipe covered my mouth. "Stop cursing so much or I will tape your mouth shut. Don't be so grumpy, we told you that you won't handle a sword you are ready for it." He removed his hand from my face. "That's never," I sulked. "Honestly, you will get a change," Sideswipe assured me. I snorted and pushed Sunstreaker aside. Before I would go to see Prowl, I first want to find Lennox. I found him marching through the halls with his assistant. "Major Lennox?" I took a sprint and caught up with him. He halted.
"I am sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if I could have a chat with you?" I asked. "I am really busy right now. Can you come back at five?" he asked. I nodded, "yeah, thank you, sir." He gave a nod and walked off. It gave me the perfect opportunity to go find Prowl. I knocked o the door off his office and walked in. "Hi, Prowl." he glanced at me, his pen still suspend above the paper he was writing. I flopped in the chair. "Are you busy?" I asked, pointing at his work. "No, what's going on?"
"You're a good teacher, huh?" I asked. Prowl leaned back and folded his hands. "What do you want?" he asked. "Can you learn me Cybertronian? I don't have to speak... but I want to understand it," I said. "Are you going to take a no for an answer?" he asked. I smiled and shook my head, handing my notebook. "Can you write down the alphabet?" I asked. He looked at the notebook but took it from me. "Why do you want this?" he asked. "Because... I like to learn it. After all, you guys taught our language, so why wouldn't I try putting effort in learning your language?" I asked. "Because... for humans it's really hard to understand, but okay... maybe you will surprise us all," he said and started to write some things down and sat for about an hour until Prowl had to go.
I caught up with Lennox at 3 PM. "What is you wanted to talk about, Amethyst?" he asked, gesturing to me to sit down. I handed him a form and he took it. "You want to be a soldier?" I nodded and smiled. Lennox studied me for a moment. "Why should I hire you?" he asked. I got this question so many times. "Because... I am good at shooting. Ironhide can confirm that and I think I can be an asset," I said. "Look, Amethyst, I am going to be honest with you... you won't pass the medical exam, you're too skinny and fragile. We need more muscles. You will get yourself killed during your first mission and I am sure you can't handle the pressure. You don't have the strength," Lennox said. I gave a small nod. "You're not build for combat."
I got up, "alright... thank you for your time, sir."
I shut the door behind me and defeated, I walked back to the twins room. Sideswipe sitting on his bed, watching TV and Sunstreaker was painting. I kicked my shoes aside and crawled next to Sideswipe. I wrapped my arm around him and shut my eyes, listening to the sound of his spark. "Are you crying?" Sunstreaker asked after a moment. Sideswipe lifted my chin and brushed some tears off my face. "What's wrong?" he asked. "Nothing, I am okay," I sulked and laid my head back down. "You are too upset to be okay," Sunstreaker said as he walked up to me and Sideswipe and sat on the edge.
"It doesn't matter how much knowledge I have, Sunstreaker. What do you actually reach with that? Nothing," I snapped, sitting up. "It's useless... I so done with it." I got up and threw my notebook in the trashcan. Sideswipe sat up. "Amethyst, hey... calm down," he said and got up. "Knowledge doesn't fix my past, it doesn't fix my ribs and it doesn't fix who I am... I will always be that fragile ugly rat from the streets. Lennox was right... I am not build for combat and it was stupid to think I could be as good as you two!" I sneered before I turned around and left, slamming the door shut behind me.
