~50~: The warside...everything is possible!

We continued marching the whole night. There was a carriage for me and one for the new pope Micheal. Well he was not officially the new pope but he was close enough to it since there was no pope anymore. That old geezer wouldn't have survived the night for sure. There was no way he would with what Ryan told me and besides a holy knight was put on it as well too. If that man survived the night then heads up. He just managed something even a magician wouldn't be able to do.

I wonder how bad the war scene is....

I heard that they are using beasts and demons but how and why?

Don't they fear that their own men will be sacrificed or do they not care?

Since I was alone in my carriage, I used most of the time to just think about what we will encounter and prepare my mind for it as well as sleep. This body was still a child's body and no matter how much I wanted to stay awake, my eyes would start to close themselves and sooner or later I was fast asleep for half the ride. Now we were currently just a couple of hours away from the war side.

The soldiers already split up in groups and now it was just us left. With us I mean some holy knights as well as Micheal. We were placed in a safe place but I didn't know if that was really a good idea yet. I mean we both may not be that much of a help but he still possessed some holy power as well. There must have been something he could do as well. This thought was going on and on in my mind. I tried to think about something else but I couldn't at all.

What if we came there as well?

I can fight as a dragon.

My flames should be some kind of help to them....

But what about Micheal?!

I can't let him be alone!

What if they come and attack us from here?

I wasn't so sure what to do anymore. If I would go to the warside, then maybe I could help them but if I went there and left Micheal alone then I would never, ever, be able to forgive myself if something would happen to him. Most of the knights were not here and there was really no doubt that the holy knights were skilled but I never could make sure if there was a traitor among them or not. Besides I also didn't know if they really could fight off a beast. I never knew if they already thought a beast like that before or how they would react to one at all. The human mind was after all something complex. They might be brave and fight back but what if they decide to abandon Micheal? What then? I simply couldn't risk that at all.

While I was deep in my thoughts, my carriage stopped and I heard a knock at the door.

"Vivi, we have arrived."

"Ah, Micheal. I'm coming."

"No need for that. I wanted to ask if you want to rest a bit more before coming out? We have yet to put up some tents."

"I am fine."

To be completely honest, I was not fine. I was nervous. I didn't know how things were going on and I was really worried about my brother and all the soldiers who just went ahead to fight off the beasts and demons. We were at war and each second which we were doing nothing, was a second where a soldier could fall.

When Micheal called out to me, I needed a bit to prepare my mind a bit more before I opened the door. I knew I wouldn't be fighting in the war directly right now but I also had no intention of leaving things be. I felt something in my chest that was calling me and urging me to go to the direction where the main fight was going on. It was as if I was needed there. I just couldn't shake off that feeling that that was where I should be right now. That was where I could help the most.

"Are you sure you don't want to rest more?"

"Do I look so tired?"

"No but you also don't seem that well...."

"I am just worried but you also don't look better Micheal."

"Same here."

He helped me get off the carriage and we decided to walk around the side a bit to see how many holy knights we had here and what had to be done.

"Vivi?"

"Hm?"

And Again!

I found myself looking at the direction where the war was going on. I couldn't see anything nor could I hear anything but I could smell the bloody scent in the air which the wind was carrying. It wouldn't for sure look good there when the scent was this heavy right here.

"Yeah?"

"You are staring in the same direction.... Are you okay?"

"The battle is this way...."

"Oh.... can you see something?"

"Pfff-"

It was a bit of a funny question but he knew the answer to it already. He just wanted to know what was wrong. Micheal was not dumb and it would have been weird if he asked something along the line of: "Do you wanna go there?"... As if he would have said that. Maybe I would but Micheal wouldn't for sure. He had to think about our safety first and it was not safe to go there at all.

"Can you smell the scent of blood in the air?"

"No. Is it that bad, Vivi?"

"Yes. It is. I don't think that they are doing well....."

"Trust in your brother."

"I do trust them but you heard everything... they will use beasts and demons... what if there are too many for them? What if they can't handle the situation? What if-"

"Stop panicking Vivi."

"I... I am just worried."

"Everyone here is but that will not bring us anywhere."

"Then what should we do?"

"We stay here and heal anyone who comes towards us."

".... is there really not more we can do?"

As if I just jinxed our situation, all of the sudden, we could hear something rattling and it was coming from that very direction, my eyes were glued at. Not only that but there was this stench all of the sudden mixed in the air as well. This time it was not only me who could pick this one up but also all the other knights as well as Michea.

"What is that?"

Next thing I know, the knights jumped in front of us and had their sword out. Not only that but the sword was enveloped in a light which was different from what I knew from the knights at the duchy. This time it was not enveloped by a light completely but for me it seemed as if there was a layer on it which was radiating something off. It was golden white and felt warm or so I could tell. I didn't know why I could tell that but I could, which is also something I just accepted. I gave up understanding all of my powers because this was a fantasy world after all.

"READY YOUR SWORDS!"

That was all that could be heard before something came running at the knights. This creature looked like a human being and it was fast. It was definitely faster than any human being. Plus it was kinda growling as well. Blood was dripping from it too but the places the blood touched all withered or dried up. This was no human being. This was what I could only describe as a demon from all the stories told by Micheal.

"DEMON!"

The knights immediately started fighting off the demons and I looked at Micheal who was near me looking at this scene with a stoic expression.

"Miche-"

I couldn't even finish my sentence when he just started walking in front of me and then chanting something louder. It seemed as if he had started chanting earlier but was only now doing it out loud. I could see the magic power gathering around him and it was definitely of the same type as the ones which were around the swords. This time, however, it was around Micheal and then it started spreading on the ground and developing the knights as well. Their power while fighting seemed to increase.

"...Goddess of light, please bless our people who are giving their lives to fight off the darkness."

This was the last sentence I could hear and also understand everything else was just gibberish for me. I never could actually understand it at all nor did I really care about it. All that mattered right now was that he was somehow enhancing the strength of his soldiers.

What did he do?

Where did that thing come from?

What just even happened..... WAIT!

Maybe this was the clue to how we could win this war!

I was a bit more than just stunned at what just happened and these holy knights were dealing with these creatures as if that was just simply a fly. They were really skilled, I had to give them that for sure. There was just nothing wrong with any of their moves. There was no hesitation and no excessive moves as well. Each one of their slashes or stabbing moves were precise and would take down the demon in one move as well.

Thanks to that, the situation could be dealt with quickly.

"Vivi, are you alright?"

"Yes... thanks to you and the knights... but what did you just do?"

"I lend them a portion of my own holy powers with that blessing."

"... do you think you can do that to others as well?"

"What are you thinking about?"

It was clear for me that something must have happened for demons to have escaped and started to actually come this far towards us. Something on the battlefield didn't feel right. This whole situation didn't feel right and I could only hope that it was just my imagination but I had this feeling that my intuition was right.

"We have to get to the battlefield asap!"

"Wait!"

"Wait? Why? Didn't you see these ... these... THINGS?! Micheal, lives are on the line here! Something must have happened."

"I know but that isn't a solution. If we get hurt or even killed, what then?"

"I don't care what you say. You are either with me or not!"

I honestly wasn't about to give Micheal much choice since I felt this lump inside of me which was choking me. It was the same feeling that day when I nearly got killed by an assassin and shifted for the very first time. It was that dreading feeling deep inside of me which was warning me about something.

"VIVI!"

He could scream all he wanted but I didn't care at all. I was not about to give Micheal any choice in this and so I simply shifted right in front of him into a dragon, surprising every single holy knight.

"ROAAAAAARRRRR!!!!

"Vivi, NO!"

"GRRRRR!"

I lowered my head towards Micheal as if to tell him that there was no way he would stop me. There was indeed no way. No matter what he tried he wouldn't be able to stop a dragon which was now as tall as the tree lines and even peeking up a bit. I really was growing fast and I didn't expect this at all.

Finally, I could hear Micheal give up with a huge sigh.

"Fine but take me with you!"

This was the moment I picked him up gently and put him on my back. First time flying with someone but I would for sure be gentle and careful. At least that was what I was thinking but in reality I simply picked him up and Micheal started panicking so much, I had to put him down again where he took the fastest horse he could get.

Finally! A troop of holy knights were all ready to fight and join the fight.

I could really only hope that it wouldn't be too late....
