My body felt awfully hot and heavy. There was no way I would move at all. Still my mind was there and I could actually hear what they were saying every single bit of it. Not only that but I could feel my surroundings. As weird as that sounded, it just meant that I could tell that I was not laying on the ground but on something really soft and something cool was on my forehead. Wait! Did I have a fever by any chance? That must have been it since there was not really any other explanation. I still felt soo hot that I wanted to jump into the next ice bath! Was that maybe too much to ask for? But seriously it would feel soo nice now.

"She is one of us!"

"How can you say such nonsense!"

"You found her on your way back from the other end of our territory! How does that make any sense! A child in a cursed and beast ridden forest! HAH, tell me something more realistic will ya!"

I don't wanna blame this man but honestly, I wouldn't believe that as well. If I wouldn't have been the one in question and lived through that, I would definitely have thought that the guy was lying to me. It just didn't make any sense! No matter how much I was thinking about it. There was just no explanation and I couldn't remember anything at all. I mean, yes, I knew my past life but that was not the important thing right now! I wanted to know more about the body owner! Why was the kid all alone in that forest when it was so dangerous! Why was there no beast around or was I just lucky? And moreover where were the child's guardians?! Why was there no one around her!

Just by knowing that my eyes were golden, I could tell that this child's body was one of the crazy duke's household kids but nothing more than that. Still it didn't make much sense at all. Normally every sub-family or any branch family was killed off to make sure that only the head family would survive. So all brothers which were not chosen as the duke, and refused to live in the head family would be slaughtered in this story. How was it literally possible for a kid like this child's body to be born outside of this house?!

There was just such a mystery about the owner of this body... well previous owner since I was now the new one. Not as if that was helping me at all.

If I remembered the story correctly, there shouldn't be a child like myself at all. This duke family consisted of the duke, his three sons and then their kids. One of the duke's sons was in charge of the knights, the other one was the next in line to inherit the title of duke and then the last one was actually here for information gathering since it was said that that child was a loner and a bookworm. Honestly, I can't blame him. This family was crazy so he actually was the most normal one trying to hide in a library and in his very own medical lab. So yeah that much about the adults.

The kids on the other hand were barely mentioned in the book. I remember one of the three siblings, the librarian didn't have any children and didn't want any. Then the one who was in charge of the knights had two sons and a daughter. The daughter was an arrogant bitch from my perspective, she was always acting up and blaming everything on the servants. Just the average cliche villain since there had to be a black sheep in the family. In this case it was her and she was even called the mad dog of the duchy. There was barely any mention about the other two sons. However the next head of the family was mentioned to have two sons as well. Both of them were talented in swordsmanship and they were also best friends and comrades through thick and thin.

Now the big question was what timeline I got myself in?

Was this where the head of the family was one of the three siblings or was this before maybe even after what I knew. Wait, after didn't make sense because it ended with the kids being of age then dying on the battlefield as well.

That was definitely a problem for me in the future since I couldn't think that much right now. I was tired and even thinking this much was giving me a huge headache. Maybe I should just keep it simple and for now listen to what they have to say.

"That is exactly what happened. You can ask all the other knights."

"You know very well that they will not abandon their leader. As if they would tell me something other than you!"

"If you don't want to believe me, then don't."

"Hmm....sigh and you are sure that the kid is of our blood?"

"With her golden eyes, yes."

"This can't be possible."

Just knowing that this one guy just called the other one father made me sure of one thing. This was a conversation between the duke and one of his kids. That meant that the guy I saw earlier, the one who found me was the son who was a knight. I mean it was just a deduction but I couldn't really know for sure which one of the three sons he was except the librarian. It was impossible that this guy was him.

"You want to keep her?"

"Yes, I intend to adopt her."

"Adopt her? Not Foster or Support her?"

"Yes, father."

"Do you think she has it in her to be one of us?"

"You should feel it yourself. The energy around her is not normal."

"You mean her aura?"

"She is still young so she can't hide the beast within her but isn't this proof of the thick dragon blood running through her veins?"

What is that supposed to mean?

"Indeed. Yet I am questioning where you actually found her. You know our family rule better than any other one."

"In the forest. No matter how much you ask, it will not change my answer."

I would love to know why I was actually covered in blood without any injuries as well!

How is that possible and don't tell me it is because of the dragon bloodline!

"Good... she will attend the moons festival. I want to hear this kid's ambition before we decide what to do with her."

Wait.....I am doomed... Did I already mention that?

I wanted to sight soo badly right now. I knew what this old man was thinking and the moons festival was only a gathering for the high society in which the children and their children would be exposed to the high society so that everyone knew who is in charge of this turf. Not only that but each child was being judged each year by what they would say in front of the head and how they were actually behaving. If one of them didn't show any promising reaction to the duke then they would be sent out and silently removed from the family list. That was at least all that I could remember from how the whole place was described to be. In short for me that meant it was my executional ground because how in the world was I about to find out what was this so called promising reaction and what they were expecting me to say?! I was a 21st century girl and not someone from this area nor universe.

"Say what you want but I will adopt her as one of my own."

"Why are you so set on this?!

"You would react the same if you would have seen her eyes."

"I doubt that."

"No, I am sure about this. Trust my judgment."

"I would if you wouldn't always take in kids to throw them away after a month because of your boredom."

Ah yes, there was indeed one episode in that book that I hated more than everything else. The next head in line had a nasty personality trait. He would easily get bored and pick up stuff. That didn't only mean that he would try everything out in terms of hobbies but also toys and pets. Now if one can call humans pets then this guy would be one of them. The scene which I hated the most in the book was the next in line actually picking up a poor kid from the streets and raising them giving the kid hope just to throw the poor little kid out with money as compensation. As if that was doing the kid any good?!!! That scene made my blood boil. I could still remember how they described his personality and how he shattered the poor child's dream and hopes for the future. Not only didn't the kid have any family but they didn't even do much after spoiling the kid rotten besides giving a bag of gold. I don't exactly know what happened to the child in detail but I do remember that he was taken care of because he was actually going around talking about what happened inside the dukes castle. Poor thing didn't know it better and tried to defend himself how he got soo much money after about 3 months of vanishing.

Ah yeah... come to think about it. There were a lot of these scenes where I wanted to throw the book away. No wait, that was actually a lie since I threw the book to a corner once. Anyways it was not that great of a book besides the fact that it could make my whole blood boil and curse at it.

Even if I am one of these kids, I get gold!

I can't really say anything against that...

Don't even know where I come from nor who my parents are here...

Might as well try to get some money and then make sure to screw this whole plot!

I should know it because I was soo interested in this family soo much!

Dragons are cool and all but the curse laying on this family was still something else. Besides I find it really romantic that they can only have one soulmate for life!

It was probably the only best thing in the book.

I wanted to think more about what I just heard but I was really tired and I could hear them talk more about me but my mind was just too much in a haste right now. I just need to sleep my fever off and who knows maybe if I asked really nicely, I could hear more about it. After all, I just so happened to be in a child's body and who can refuse a small kid's request?
