~28~: Things will change...
Oh wow, first he said don't look but then he made everything around him black so no one could actually see him do it. I couldn't even hear a sound. This tower master was something else. He was manipulating the whole bubble around us in order to prevent any sound or anything disturbing to actually mess with our mind. Then again, it kinda didn't surprise me anymore. The only thing that I found surprising was that he thought about the consequences of kids seeing something this gruesome. Whelp, it might have been already too late for that since we both went through a minefield of soldiers who have died because of my flames or the inhabitant of the forest.
On a complete other note, I started noticing that I always called the man the tower master but never used his real name. Wasn't I just great? I even forgot about the name on the point he mentioned it as well. If it were not for him coming over each and every day a couple of times as well, I was sure I would have also forgotten who he was. My brain was definitely a mess with names and faces. Though if I did like them or had to associate them with something, then I would know how they would look. This time around it was a bit more difficult since in the original book, the tower master was already Ilya which means that this man in front of me died for some reason.
Wiat!
Now that I think about it...
The tower master is not Ilya and he was said to be the youngest one there ever was....
Why is there his sensei here though?
What happens for him to die?
He is definitely strong.
There shouldn't be any reason for a man such as him to suddenly die.
Could it be....
Is this a plot which the crown prince had and it only changed slightly?
Was this meeting destined?
Was this already set in place that the crown prince and the tower master would meet?
I shook my head immediately when the thought came to my mind. It was a possibility I haven't thought about until now at all. Maybe there was something about the crown prince which connected this place to the magic tower. I did clearly remember that the crown prince had a powerful mage at his side as well later on in the story. It was said he graduated from the magic tower. Now how could that be when the magic tower was currently under attack. I do get that the reason is a different one but so far everything was somehow related to the plot. This only made me believe there were more things I didn't know or haven't put together yet, so I took this small moment of silence and started thinking about it all.
From what I know Ilya is the tower master and the crown had someone from the magic tower.
The magic tower however has a pledge to the Underwoods.
Now why would they go and work for the crown.... Were they spies?
But in the end the Underwoods all die....
If they are not spies then did something perhaps happen that I am not aware of?
Something I should know maybe....
If for some reason Ilya had a grudge against the Underwood... then the tower wouldn't surve the Underwoods anymore.
If that would be true then it would make sense.
However it really could only be as simple as them being spies as well...
AHHHH!
This is just brain wraking!
Why can't things be just simple?
Then suddenly something popped up in my mind. It was something I didn't even want to think about. That day when I met Ilya, he was in the forest together with his friend Joshua. What if they were not here when the tower was getting attacked. Furthermore what if the tower was attacked in silence and fast. The crown prince had a mage with him and he managed to get the current tower master on his knees as well as having swords pointed at his neck. That for sure was not normal but then again, I didn't know what exactly happened. All I knew was that there was this damn stone which was at fault and another mage. Why a mage would go so far as to kill the magic tower owner, I didn't know at all. There were not even small clues about that.
Anyways back to the theories! If Ilya wasn't here and the tower got attacked and that mage was here with that stupid stone, then the current tower master would have a hard time to fight then. Now what if they actually kill the current magic tower owner and blame this one on the Underwoods?
I kinda highly doubted that the crown or more specifically that the crown prince didn't know about the interaction between the Underwoods and the magic tower.
Why would they do that?
There has to be a reason for that....
The crown hates the Underwoods but they do need the magic tower....
Why go to such a length and do something like that?
What if the mages would have found out?
What if there was someone who witnessed everything?
What if-
And then it hit me. It was close to when we entered the room, the tower master was charged with treason because of the collaboration with THE Underwood. I was wondering the whole time how they knew something like this. However the more important question would be what if they knew about the tower master and him doting on Ilya? Ilya wasn't of age yet nor was he strong enough to carry the burden for the next successor. Only a couple mages should know that fact. Now this is where it gets interesting.
Mages were people as well. They were collaborating with the Underwoods already ages to count from the beginning of creation of the magic tower. Only the duke and his son, who earns the title of dukes, will know about this. Now thinking about this the other way around, that meant that Ilya would only learn about the connection between these houses after he earns the title of tower Master which would be passed on to him
That makes sense now!
If Ilya was a child when the tower master actually died then that means that he is the one not knowing about that fact.
Because he breached the contract and an old promise, he and other mages which are under his guidance would lose the ability of wielding mana and stop being mages!
Now I at least know why the mages didn't do a lot when the duke and all the Underwood started passing away.
They even stopped mentioning mages....
So this is why.
That bastard used the people in here to get rid of the duke and then abandoned them as well!
.... This only proves why I hated reading this book!
Living here makes all the small plot holes obvious now but while I was reading, I did just accept everything that was written down without thinking about anything at all. I missed too many details out that I could sometimes even just remember the overall content. One of such details were how the character looked like and some of the key figures' names such as the high priest.
One thing was however sure by now! There was no way back to the Underwood duchy for me. It was not the place I was supposed to be. There would be more than just a war waging after this! The only crown prince was now officially dead and the magic tower had killed him as well. For once I was kinda glad and happy about this. I could even throw a party at this point for the one who killed the crown prince.
URGH!
Just thinking about what will happen from now on... I feel my head spinning.
Now that that bitch... aham... bastard is dead.... There won't be any hiding the connection for sure.
So that meanest the Underwoods and the magic tower will have to fight together from now on...
Looks like I need to move away from here.
I can't go back yet.
I know I should but I don't think this is the place where I should get back too....
Just thinking about it, I knew that it was the best decision I could make. Of course I missed Ryan and Alex as well as my servants Emi and Diamond and Eliana as well as Delca. On top of that I missed my father and the duke who scared the shit out of me as well. I just missed them all. I wanted to get back to have a room, a nice bed and meals that were done by a gourmet chef. It would be such a cozy life. It would be perfect. Ryan and my father would take any harm and danger and I could live secludedly and protected.
Of course that was an option but it was not what I wanted...
I can't go back....
If I do that, I'll risk their lives...
I proved that I can make a difference!
I saved the tower master live!
I changed the future this way... to the better or the worst, who knows....
But I made a difference...
If I get back, what would change?
The crown was a dangerous opponent no matter how I was thinking about them at all. I could of course find a way to get things done but that wouldn't work out well. I would be protected and no one would tell me what would happen. In fact, I was scared about that thought. Don't get me wrong, I loved being home and surrounded by people who appreciated me but I also didn't want to see them all die. It was quite the dilemma.
No... I can't there is one more force I need at our side!
I need to find HIM!
He will be a huge help for us!
Plus no one would suspect me living there!
I am sure someone will get back to the king and report that a dragon was there at the sight....
Underwood would be under attack, immediately after this for sure...
I need to make sure there is a backup!
This is all my mess after all.... I have to fix this.
A small plan formed in my head and I knew it wouldn't work that well since it was an ideal plan but it was at least something. The most important part was to let my family know that I was alright and not to search for me. In fact, I needed people to think I was dead in order to create a new identity for me. I may have a name but I would create a name for myself and while I was doing that, I would not abandon the name I got from being accepted in the Underwoods. After all, my name was Viviana Underwood.
Alright...
After I find him, things should get easier...
But only if I find him...
My power should help me a bit around.
I just need to figure out how to transform at will from now on.
Nothing to worry about!
It was a small chance that things would go according to my plan but I would take it. If that meant, there was a chance for everyone to survive and lead the whole fucked up story to a story which had a happy ending then so be it. That it was still fucked up was a different thing. I mean it was obvious by now that each and every path I would choose would be blood. The only thing I could do right now was to try and redeem myself as well as change people's minds.
A slow process but it was the only way for everything to turn out quite alright. Besides I had some healing power which I would use to change peoples mind. This was somewhat the medieval area, there was for sure the need of healers and saints... that the new saint was a dragon was something no one needed to know at all.
I might be crazy for doing this but it was definitely worth a try.
...
I wonder how Ilya feels about this?
He just witnessed his Sensei kill someone....
Guess I'll find out soon.
