(Y/n) POV

      I slowly wake up and look around and figure I am in the nurses office. I start trying to get up and see a giant pile of grass at the foot of my bed. My mouth starts to water a little but I suddenly don't feel like eating and sigh. Then the door opens and I see several animals walk in with piles of hay in their arms. They set the food down and breath a little.

Jin: Whew, finally that's the last of it. That mammoth better appreciate this.

      The other human notices me being awake and hits the male human and points me out.

Jin: Oh, it's awake.

Ranka: Jin, be nice. *turns to me* Hello (Y/n), my name is Ranka, I'm the leader of the cooking club.

(Y/n): Hello. *gestures to the grass pile* What's all this about?

Meimei: It's for you silly. We figured you must be hungry.

(Y/n): *depressed sigh* What's the point?

Jin: So you don't die, stupid.

Ranka: Look, we understand you're going through a rough spot right now but let me tell you, we are not going to let you die nor let you be alone. So, as boss of the Cooking Club, I name you the newest member of my pack, my family.

Jin: I think the proper greeting to an elephant is by touching eachother with their noses or trunks.

      Ranka comes up first and rubs her nose against mine, which did feel nice but it didn't help much. But everyone soon did the same thing and I finally accepted the fact that these animals weren't giving up on me. I finally got the gumption to start eating the giant pile of grass and hay and everyone felt happier that I was finally eating. As everyone else left to give me time to rest, one animal sticks around.

Meimei: I'm really glad you're okay.

(Y/n): Thanks for caring enough, I suppose.

Meimei: So, why don't you have a pack of your own?

(Y/n): Well, male mammoths leave their families at a certain age but when you're the last one of your species, it gets a little lonely with no one to talk to.

Meimei: Well, you won't have that problem anymore. I'll let you sleep.

(Y/n): Meimei?

Meimei: Hmm?

(Y/n): Thank you.

     Meimei nods and smiles and she left, I finally fall into a peaceful sleep.

Ranka POV

      I take everyone back to the clubroom and give them orders.

Ranka: Okay everyone. Over the next few weeks I want us all to spend as much time with (Y/n) as possible. The only way he's going to recover is if we're all really good friends with him. Understood!

Everyone: Right!

Jin: Hmph, like I care.

      Just then Miyubi collapses from yelling loudly and-

Miyubi: *dead*

Ranka: Miyubi!

(Y/n) POV

Timeskip 3 hours later

     I wake up and am feeling the urge to eat again, so I sit up and test if I have the strength to stand. Surprisingly, I can stand and walk normally, so I head to the cafeteria and grab some more grass and start to wonder where the Cooking Club meet. I start looking around and now I just feel stupid for not knowing where the pack meets. That is until I bump into someone and instinctively reach out with my trunk and catch, a sloth.

(Y/n): I'm sorry. I didn't hear you walking.

????: *speaking slowly and softly* It's ok. I was just on my way to my dorm to get something for the bake sale we have coming up.

(Y/n): Oh, you must be Miyubi. Sorry I didn't recognize you.

Miyubi: It's ok and I know you are (Y/n) our newest pack mate. Welcome.

(Y/n): Thanks. So do you want a lift to your dorm.

      Miyubi nods and I place her on my head and walk to her dorm, grab the box she wanted and walked to the clubroom. I open the door and let Miyubi slide down my trunk into a chair.

Yukari: Wow Miyubi. That was fast.

     I then try to get through the door but the doorways are too small for me. Unfortunately, I had to smash through the doorway and then replaced the doorway as best as I can.

Jin: Was that necessary?

(Y/n): Sorry.

Ranka: It's fine. I'll talk to the teachers about getting a bigger door for you.

     I only nod as the male human stares at me with a really angry annoyed look, Ranka seemed to notice.

Ranka: Oh don't let Jin worry you, he just doesn't like animals in general. It's not you.

(Y/n): Okay, so, now what?

Ranka: We have a bake sale coming up and we'd like you to help make it a huge success! You ready friend?!

(Y/n): Yeah, I'll try.

Ranka: Yay!

      Ranka then jumps on me and licks my face and we all start getting to work after Miyubi... Died?! Jin handed me a recipe to follow and at first it's a little hard to decipher but Hitomi showed me how to do it and I was able to get the recipe, even if they were mammoth sized. It felt really nice to feel like I'm a part of something, I just hope I can be useful to this unusual pack.

Timeskip Next Day

Ranka has asked for my help running an errand so I meet her out in front of the school.

Ranka: Good morning (Y/n)!

(Y/n): Mornin', uh, boss.

Ranka: Come on. We've got a lot to do today.

We get going and meet up with several animals, like the rabbits, lionesses, impala's and many more to grab various food items for the bake sale coming up. As we make our way back to the club room, I am carrying everything on my back and Ranka asks.

Ranka: Are you sure you don't want me to carry something?

(Y/n): It's alright, I can handle it.

Ranka: So, I've got a question. Why didn't the other extinct species take you in?

(Y/n): *sigh* I don't think I'm ready to talk about it, yet.

Ranka: I understand. But in our pack we have to trust each other and that means no secrets. So, when you're ready come find me.

(Y/n): Thanks boss.

I'm glad Ranka didn't push to know about my past quite yet, but I know she won't completely trust me until I tell her what happened to me. We make it back and everyone happily greets us, minus Jin, and I set the food down. As Hitomi and Yena put the food away, I hear.

Ranka: Where's Yukari?

Jin: The koala? She said she needed to get something, I don't remember what.

     I lift my trunk and start sniffing and catch Yukari's scent.

(Y/n): She's about a mile southwest of us at this moment and getting closer.

Meimei: Wow, how could you tell that?

(Y/n): Mammoths and elephants have very good senses of smell. We can even detect underground water over 12 miles away.

Hitomi: Wow, that's really impressive.

(Y/n): *blushes in embarrassment* Hehe, thanks.

Ranka: Well (Y/n), you want to help me look for her?

(Y/n): Ok.

     I manage to make my way through the crowded room and follow Ranka outside. I then use my sense of smell and follow Yukari's scent. Ranka and I eventually find her and see she was too visiting the rabbits.

Ranka: Yukari, there you are.

Yukari: Hey guys. Sorry, this took a little longer than expected.

Ranka: Just as long as your safe. Now come on we'll grab (Y/n) some lunch and we'll head back to the clubroom and start setting up decorations.

Yukari: Right.

     The three of us start heading to the cafeteria, when we are stopped by those same lions that beat me up.

Lion1: Well, well, it seems the mammoth has found his place in this world, amongst other freaks.

Lion2-5: *LAUGH*

Ranka: *wolf growl* Leave my pack alone.

Lion1: Or what, Runt?

Ranka: *loud wolf growl*

     Ranka charges but is immediately smacked away from the lions to my feet. When Ranka lands at my feet, and my past beatings start flashing in my head and I start to get scared, but I do pick up Ranka and Yukari and put them on my back. The lead lion goes for me and I flinch back, but the hit never comes and I hear punches landing. I open my eyes and see King and Yena have beaten these bullies down and come to check on us.

King: Are you alright big guy?

(Y/n): *down* Yeah, thanks.

Yena: What's wrong with you? You could've easily beaten those pathetic lions. As a male you need to assert yourself and stand up to bullies-

King: Yena. Think about what he's been through.

Yena: Huh?

King: Elephants, and I assume mammoths, have super good memories, so he probably remembered every time he got beaten.

Yena: *realization* Oh. *embarrassed* Sorry, (Y/n).

(Y/n): It's alright. I got scared and panicked.

King: You did one thing right though.

(Y/n): Huh?

King: *smirks* You put the lives of Ranka and Yukari above your own. That is admirable and male worthy.

(Y/n): *looks at Ranka and Yukari* I was only reacting.

King: And it was the right move. Now come on let's head back to the clubroom.

     I simply nod and follow the two back to the club and Yukari got off and caught Ranka when I slid her down my trunk. Ranka woke up with a slight headache but otherwise ok. As everyone made sure The others were ok, I sat in a corner away from the group still ashamed I couldn't force myself to fight back. I then feel a tap on my leg and look down to see Miyubi smiling at me.

Miyubi: *slow and soft speech* Thank you for protecting Ranka and Yukari.

(Y/n): Hmph, all I did was stand there like scared coward.

Ranka: No, you didn't. You showed those lions that you weren't going to run away if you could. So what if you were scared, you stood your ground because you didn't want to leave us behind. Thank you.

     Ranka rubbed her nose against the tip of my trunks and then jumped on my face and licked me. Yukari, Hitomi and Meimei also thanked me for my supposed bravery, and I started to think maybe this won't be so bad and I can call theses guys family.
