(Y/n) POV

I have been feeling a lot happier since I joined Ranka's pack and everyone, minus Jin, seems to enjoy my company. Everyday though, I still feel some sort of guilt because I haven't told them about where I came from and I came to be so alone. But, they trust me, so I guess I can trust them.

(Y/n): Hey guys?

Ranka: (Y/n)? What's wrong?

(Y/n): *deep breath* I think it's time I told you how I came to be alone.

Ranka recognizes my meaning and she nods and everyone takes a seat to listen.

(Y/n): Well, I started out going to the Darwin Academy pretty far from here. There I met other extinct animals, one thing we all had in common was that all our species can directly or indirectly blame humans for our extinction. So we all banded together to form Team EX, at first I thought we just banded together because we had no one else to turn to and for a while it felt good to be apart of something. That is until I found out their true motives, all the species of Team EX wanted the extinction of humanity as revenge for their own extinction. I found out their true intentions when a cat spoke out against our team, the boss told me to squash the cat for daring to challenge them, but I told all of them no, I wasn't going to hurt anyone just because they don't agree with us. I let the cat go and then got beat pretty hard by the boss of our team and she told me that I was weak and wasn't allowed to be a part of them anymore.

Meimei: Oh, (Y/n).

(Y/n): So, I left and transferred here and told myself I would only fight to defend those who can't defend themselves. Obviously that hasn't turned out well, but there it is, my life's story. A racist jerk in plain sight.

After I finished I waited anxiously for everyone to respond in some way, but for a few minutes there was nothing but silence. Kurumi is the first to stand and she walks to me, she then climbs up on my shoulder and licks me and cuddles next to my head. I am surprised by this and even more so when everyone else, minus Jin, smiled and Ranka told me.

Ranka: I think I speak for all of us when I say we're glad you told us and we won't hold your past against you.

Hitomi: Yes, and the fact you decided to spare that cat means you're willing to forgive and forget and, in my opinion, makes you stronger than your supposed friends.

I did feel a lot better that they understood my motives and intentions and I am starting to feel like I'm part of a family again. A few days later and I've regained my former weight and appetite and I'm definitely a more cheerful animal. One day Yena, the hyena, is seen hanging around Hitomi a lot and what's weirder is that he, or she, I can't remember, is wearing a proper women's school uniform. We all asked why and it appears she's trying to be a proper female by following and imitating Hitomi. Ok? After classes ended I am still eating lunch when I pickup a faint howl in the distance and recognized it as Ranka's howl, something must be up. I use my trunk to locate her and follow her scent. As I get closer I start to hear those same stupid lions picking on the pack and I pick up the pace and start crashing through the trees and bushes.

Ranka POV

Most of the pack and I are watching helplessly as the typical lion bullies pick on Yena and then to show their "male worthy" might, they decide to beat up a small animal even smaller than me. As I beg Jin to do something, we start to hear crashing from the forest behind us and turn around to see trees being pushed out of the way and (Y/n) appears smashing the trees along the way.

(Y/n): Is everyone okay?

Meimei: Yeah, we're okay but that little girl is going to die if we don't do something!

Jin: She'll be fine. Just watch.

(Y/n) POV

We continue to watch for a few seconds and I can't take it anymore.

(Y/n): That's it. I'm taking them down.

Before I can though, the lions grow tired and I see the little black and white stripped animal without a scratch on her.

Yukari: How did she get out of that without a scratch?

Jin: Simple, she's a honey badger. Honey badgers have a thick rubbery pelt that can completely negate the bite of lions and hyenas.

(Y/n): Oh.

Yena then goes on about how he had lost sight of his true self and everyone was surprised when one of the lion's paw swipe caused Yena's skirt to fly revealing he was still wearing boxers. Yena then punches the lead lion but is then surrounded by the other four and I approach.

(Y/n): Hey! Pick on someone your own size!

Lion2: I like our chances, the four of us against one big, fat you.

I simply smirk and rear up onto my hind legs and-

(Y/n): *TRUMPET*

I land on the ground with a massive thud and cracking the ground beneath my feet, it was apparently enough to send the lions packing.

Yena: Ha! See, you overcame your fear and beat your past, like a male! Hahahaha!

????: Ranka! Please fight me?!

(Y/n): Uh, what's her deal?

Jin: This honey badger has been trying to fight the dumb dog all day for reasons we're still unsure of.

Yukari: I still can't believe she's still got energy after that beating from the lions.

Jin: Well, she is a honey badger.

Teru: Ranka, let's fight!

Ranka: Seriously. There's no reason for us to fight.

Teru: Yeah there is!

Ranka: No!

Teru: Fight me!

Ranka: No, I don't want to!

The two go back an forth while climbing on Jin, Meimei then leans over and asks...

Meimei: How thick headed can you get?

(Y/n): There's a difference between determined and stubbornness, I couldn't tell you which one she is right now.

Yena: Hey, why don't you fight me instead. If you win then you can take on Ranka.

Hitomi: Yena?!

Yena: I believe in repaying my favors right away. Besides, you look pretty strong. *cracks his knuckles*

Teru: Okay! I'll beat you, and then challenge Ranka!

Yena: Bring it on!

Teru: I will be a wolf!

Ranka: What does that even mean?

Teru, I think, then does some sort of handstand and as she spins her tail a stinky smelling cloud then envelopes Yena, causing him to lose concentration. A wind gust comes up and blows the stinky cloud towards Jin and Ranka, and when they both keel over.

Everyone: Ranka!

Teru then jumps in victory as Ranka and Jin roll on the ground.

Teru: Yay! I won! I beat Ranka!

Girls: Huh?!

Yena: Wait! That's not fair to say you won that way!

Just then a much larger wolf stands behind Yena and stares down at Teru, and Teru is none the wiser about what just happened when the adult wolf smashes Teru into the ground. Luckily, my trunk was quick enough to move Yukari, Miyubi and Meimei behind me and block them from the shockwave which sent flying rocks everywhere.

Meimei POV

I wake up from the aftershock and find my surroundings are dark.

Meimei: Guys! Can anyone hear me?!

Yukari: *groggily* Ugh. Yup, I'm up.

Miyubi: I'm okay.

Meimei: Where's everybody else, I can't see.

(Y/n): *strained* Sorry... about... that...

Meimei: (Y/n)? Are you ok?

(Y/n): Just.. a... second...

Just then rocks start to move and light starts to shine and I can see (Y/n) holding a boulder that's bigger than him and slowly and with much effort he pushes the rock off him to reveal the crater Ranka's sister, Ferryl, made. Ferryl checks on Ranka, and as the pair exchange words-

(Y/n): *coughs* Is everyone okay?

Meimei: Thanks to you we are.

(Y/n) then lifts us all onto his back and we pick up Ranka and Jin and we all head back to the club room. (Y/n) walked out after a little bit to, I assume, get food and I decide to follow him to the cafeteria and join him for a snack. As I happily munch on my bamboo, (Y/n) is just devouring big mouthfuls of grass and I can only giggle at how he can eat so much food in a single sitting, which makes sense since he weighs nearly 7 tons.

(Y/n): So, what was life like where you were from?

Meimei: Oh me? *blushes in embarrassment* Well, um, it was sheltered. I got everything I wanted when I wanted.

(Y/n): So, a spoiled princess, got it.

Meimei: Hey! It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows! I don't know what it's like to be wild, I've hardly ever been outside at all because being an idol for endangered animals meant I was in danger from all sorts of evildoers.

(Y/n): Sorry.

Meimei: No, I should be. I shouldn't have yelled at you.

(Y/n): *thinks for a moment* Hmm, hey do you want to see something really pretty?

Meimei: What do you mean?

(Y/n): Come on.

(Y/n) wraps his trunk around my waist and tosses me onto his back and we head outside the school. After a little bit of walking, we come to a cave and (Y/n) walks in, he was really slow going through the cave mainly because neither of us could see very well in the dark. Eventually, we made it to an area where the ceiling opened up and the sun showed through to illuminate a secluded grove with a small pond and a large rock on one side of it and lily pads just off shore, on another part of the embankment there was a small grove of bamboo, finally as we reached the pond, there was single solitary cherry blossom tree and the ground in this place was covered with soft grass. What's better is that the sun is starting to set so the sky above has orange-purple hue to it.

Meimei: *amazement* Wow!

(Y/n): I found this place not long after I transferred here. It was a refuge of sorts, somewhere I could go and not be close to anybody who didn't want me around in the first place.

I slide down his trunk and land on the ground and as he sits underneath the tree, I take a chance to look at the pond. I get the end of the embankment and look at the crystal clear water and a frog suddenly jumped out of the water and onto my face. I jumped back startled and landed on my butt, I could hear (Y/n) in the background chuckling. The frog jumps off and I want to get mad but I take a second to slow down and breath, the frog then starts apologizing.

Frog: I am so sorry! I don't know what came over me.

Meimei: *giggles* It's okay. No harm done.

The frog jumps back in the pond and I look at (Y/n) who is just relaxing underneath the tree, I decide to walk around the pond a little bit towards the stand of bamboo. As I reach I hear small splashes of fish in the water which was really relaxing to hear, I grab a piece of bamboo and eat it and come to find that it was even more delicious than any bamboo I've eaten at school or even at home. So I grab two shoots and walk back to (Y/n) and sit in the curl of his trunk and munch on the bamboo as the two of us watched the sun set. Day gave way to night and the stars come out and I am completely blown away by how beautiful this is.

(Y/n): You'll never find true beauty stuck inside some facility. You just need to be outside every once and a while. The outdoors can rival the greatest works of art.

I look up at (Y/n)'s face in the faint moonlight and I start to feel something else I've never felt before, I wonder what it is. He just looks so wise, not mention he is really handsome for a mammoth. As the moon rises over the cavern wall it illuminates the pond and with a slow gentle breeze, I yawn and cuddle into (Y/n)'s trunk as I fall asleep.

(Y/n) POV

As I look up at the stars, I hear a soft snoring and look down and see Meimei sleeping using my trunk as a pillow. I simply smile and I too fall asleep.
