Home Date
The quietness wakes you. Sitting on the side of your bed, you push your hair out of your face and look around. It's dark. When did it get dark? Feeling like your mouth is the Sahara Desert, you grab the glass of water and down it. 'More, I want more.'
You pad barefoot to the kitchen to get some juice from the refrigerator. Taking a juice box out, you sit at the counter and notice a note is propped up on the fruit basket.
Em,
I hope you are feeling better. I left dinner in the fridge for you. I will see you later tonight. Call me if you need anything.'
Luv La
ps. You will never guess where I am, so I will tell you.
YOONGI HAS TAKEN ME OUT TO DINNER! (her drawn cute smiley faces spaced apart with hearts make you smile.)
He brought me white tulips earlier today. They are in the living room. I can't wait to talk with you.
Hugs!!
The rumble of your empty stomach sends you straight to the fridge to get the dinner La had left for you. After heating it up and grabbing another juice box, you carry it into the living room and cut the TV on. It's time for your favorite K-Drama. Unusually hungry, you dig into your dinner as if you hadn't eaten all day. When done, you turn off the TV, carry the empty plate into the kitchen, and put it in the sink.
You take a pain pill for your knee and ankle when you suddenly remember the empty juice boxes. You return to the living room, cut the light on, and grab the empties. You hadn't turned the light on earlier or noticed the white tulips on the table until now. You remember they stand for someone asking forgiveness.
"They are beautiful!" You admire them closely, smiling, and are happy for Lanne. "Oh, Lanne, I think he wants to start a relationship with you." You can't wait to talk to her when she comes home.
Thinking about forgiveness, you drop the empty juice boxes in the kitchen trash, hop on a stool at the center counter, and call Namjoon. You fiddle with the salt and pepper shakers waiting for him to answer. You sprinkle a small amount of salt on the counter and use your index finger to draw a heart in the middle of the salt. You jump a little so caught up in thinking about him and hearts that when he answered you were not prepared.
"Hello?"
"Joon, are you feeling better? I'm so sorry you were hurt."
"I'm okay, all things considered. How are you doing? I'm more concerned for you. It was your side of the car that got hit." You can hear the honest concern in his voice, and it warms your heart.
"I'm okay, too. I'm probably going to be more sore tomorrow. My ankle and knee are bruising now, too. At least nothing was broken. Thank goodness for airbags."
"I know, right? That could have been so much worse. We were lucky. Will you still feel like going to the beach tomorrow?" He is hurting and doesn't think he can take a day at the beach, but if you want to go, he will go.
You are so sad to say it but do it anyway. "I'm so sorry, but I don't think I will feel up to it. I don't think my knee and ankle will do well walking on sand, and I don't even want to ride in a car, let alone drive one for a bit."
"Oh, okay, I understand. I have to admit I was worried about going, too. I would like to make other plans instead, just us. Since we're both hurt, what do you say to us skipping the outing to the beach till maybe next weekend? That's right before we leave on tour."
"I think that would be a great idea. We can have dinner here, watch movies, sit on the balcony, and watch the city lights come on as the sun goes down. It's stunning at night." You feel a thrill shooting through you, thinking about spending a quiet, romantic evening with Jooni.
"I know Ki isn't going to the beach with the others, so he can drop me off. Is there anything you want me to bring for dinner?"
Laughing softly, you reply as you rub your aching knee, "Dinner." You hear him laughing now, too.
"Okay, that makes sense to me. We both won't feel up to cooking, so I will bring dinner. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, Emily, for our home date."
You blush, even though he can't see it. That is so romantic, a 'home date'.
"Yes, that sounds wonderful. See you tomorrow, Jooni. Goodnight."
His voice turns deep and melodic as he says, "Goodnight, Emily." You could hear him say that every night and never get tired of it. You sigh as the call ends.
Not knowing when La will return home, you leave her a note by the fruit basket.
La,
I'm sorry, but I'm not up to talk with you about your date with Yoongi. But I want you to know that tomorrow, late afternoon, Namjoon is coming over for what he called a 'home date.'
(You draw a large happy face inside a heart.) A home date! Oh, Lanne, I'm so happy.
So, have a great time at the beach tomorrow, and don't rush home. *wink wink*
Maybe you can stay with Yoongi? I'm kidding. I'm kidding!
Luv ya!
Em
p.s Maybe I'm not kidding, lol
You're not a giggly kind of girl, but this time, a giggle escapes, you leave the kitchen light on for La, as you cautiously limp off to bed.
Amid your little giggle spree, you say, "I'm not kidding, La."
As you snuggled under your covers, you know you will have to skip taking a pain pill tomorrow. They make you giggly, and you don't want to be giggly around Jooni. You giggle at the giggles until, slowly, your giggles fade away as you're drawn into sleep.
