His Mom? His Sister?

La agrees, whispering, "Oh yeah, you would too."

You playfully punch her in the arm. Then you turn her attention to the habitat, "Guess which one is Yoongi?"

Namjoon watches the interaction between you two and smiles.

He is taken by your enthusiasm and compassion for his little friends. He is fascinated by your partner's business savvy; it reminds him of his mom and how he misses her handling of her own business endeavors. His feelings of missing his mom overtake him, and before realizing it, he says to Lanne, "You remind me of my mom."

Lanne's eyes quickly glare over at you before putting on a more professional expression resting on Namjoon, "Excuse me, Mr. Kim, did you just say I remind you of your mother?"

Namjoon did not realize that Lanne felt insulted because he thought she looked old enough to be his mother. You are trying to cover a giggle with your hand.

Lanne says, "Excuse me, Mr. Kim." She pulls her phone out as if she's received a call. "I need to answer this in the other room. You and Em can go over your routine for your little friends."

You step out of the room and stand in the living room. You didn't have a call; you just needed an excuse to leave. You are still disconcerted by his thinking you looked old.

His manager follows you, "He didn't mean that as it sounded." He smiles gently at you and continues, "Or as you took it. His mother is a no-nonsense businesswoman who owns her own company."

You politely nod, and he says, "He just sees, as I do since corresponding with you, that you take your business very seriously, even if it is dealing with pets."

"We provide a professional service to our clients and . . .' he interrupts.

"Please call me Ki. I meant no disrespect to you or your business, just the opposite. We have gone through so many pet sitter businesses, and so have the others, that we were beginning to lose hope of finding a suitable, trustworthy service. These boys love their pets like family, and Em seems very caring and sweet, like his sister, with the interest she has taken in his crabs."

He is impressed when he tells you, "And you, Miss Joy, are the no-nonsense business side. I have gone over your forms and information packets, and let me tell you, as his personal manager, I have not seen better. And if I'm not mistaken, Namjoon has taken a liking to your Miss Emily."

"I think so too. She has such a love of animals, especially the small ones, like his crabs. She has three herself."

He says, "But I thought she said she had no pets. Why would she lie?"

He looks confused and wondering why she would lie. Lying was not a trait he found favorable in anyone involved with Namjoon or the others. He won't have it.

"Please, Mr. . . ."

"Ki," he interrupts, "Just Ki."

You smile and continue, "Ki, don't let her know I told you, but she has three hermit crabs named Joon, Kim, and Nam." You watch his facial expression to observe his reaction.

His eyes widen in surprise, and then he softly laughs so Namjoon and Em can't hear him. "Oh, I understand completely."

You like Ki. His persona gives off a caring father vibe. You liked him right away.

Seeing Namjoon walk out with Em, Ki reaches out to take your arm, "Shall we join them on the house tour?" He smiles sweetly as you take his arm.

"Yes, thank you."

You and Ki get closer to Namjoon and Em. He smiles at you, then says to his personal manager, "Em reminds me a lot of my sister, don't you think, Ki?" Because he misses her too.

He smiles to his dimples advantage. You notice Em suddenly stiffen and then a slight drooping of her shoulders.

Her eyes widen in shock, 'He looks at me like a sister?'  She despondently sighs.

You kind of feel sad for her. Well, no, you don't. Not after she thought it was funny that Namjoon thought you were old enough to be his mom!
