Izogie volunteered as tribute to show her sister that she needs to be strong. Being her last year she could be sent, she wanted to show her sister an example of how to compete if she was ever selected, even if it results in her own death.

BACKSTORY
Izogie has always been skilled with her hands. She was truly born into the district for her. Izogie quickly gained skills and confidence in mechanics. She understood how parts worked together and affected one another. She was able to look at a machine and understand it's ins and outs of how it worked. She can look at something and know exactly what is going on underneath the outer layer. This also means she knows the quickest way to break them too. After machines, Izogie moved to weaponry. She learned how to clean, disassemble, and use all sorts of firearms as she helped her father build them in the factory. Izogie would quiz herself on their sounds, looks, models, bullet range, and the amount of damage they can cause. She can take them apart into each and every piece then put it back together while blindfolded. Her best weapon by far was a sniper. She was able to put together wind speed, bullet drop, distance, and all other factors to hitting almost every shot she took. Izogie has a younger sister who isn't as brave and confident like herself. She finds herself always trying to set an example for her. Show her sister that she needs to be strong, that she doesn't have time to be scared or weak. Izogie knew this would be her last ceremony before she aged out, so she took the dive and volunteered as tribute. No one in her family had ever been to the games, so Izogie needed to give her sister an example to follow if her name was ever called.
