Chapter 3: Headphone Actor

Takane POV

There will be strong language in this chapter.

I have to admit there is something fishy about the girl in the white hoodie.

And I’m not talking about Marry. Because Marry wouldn’t do anything to hurt us.

At least, that what I thought.

I walked in to see Marry yelling hurtful things at Seto, at the top of her lungs. Momo, Kano, and Ayano came running. Shintaro was out. Chinatsu was taking another walk.

Marry’s voice sounded different, it was a bit deeper, with a more forceful edge to it. She was also a tad taller. Growth spurt, maybe? Seto was standing there, looking as if he wanted to cry, but refused because it would hurt his man pride. ((A/N Everyone has their man pride.))

Momo ran out in front of Marry. “Marry, what’s—” Momo was shoved out of the way, landing face down.

Then Marry turned onto Ayano.  “Just what are you looking at, bitch?”

Did Marry-chan just say…?

Ayano gasped, “I-You-Uh…”

“No cryptic words this time, huh? Last I checked, didn’t you get trapped in the void? You should have stayed there.”

Ayano just looked at Seto, to Marry, to me. Then she ran off, sobbing.

That was the last straw.

I turned into my cyber form and crawled my way into Marry’s phone. I played a sound at a frequency that could only be heard by snakes. Marry, being part Medusae, should’ve heard it. But if she did, she didn’t acknowledge, or even flinch. All she did was laugh at my unconscious body. So I wormed my way back into it, sitting up warily.

“Oh, back now, sleeping beauty?”

I looked at Kano, annoyed that he hadn’t said something yet. He was studying Marry warily, as if he saw someone else in the place of her. Finally, he spoke. “Marry-chan, why don’t you go for a little walk to calm yourself?” He smiled.

Smiling at a time like this… that bastard.

Marry just looked bored, waved a hand, and said, “Alright, but I don’t think it will help.”

She walked out the door.

A few minutes later, while Kano and I were trying to calm Seto and Anayo down, Chinatsu walked through the door, headphones on and blasting. She was fingering her necklace as she rounded the corner into the next hallway… and right past us.

I ran up to her and snatched her headphones off. “What do you think you’re doing? Are you going to help us, or not?”

She looked at me blankly. “Help you with what?”

“Seto and Anayo!”

“They look fine to me.”

“Anayo is crying, for God’s sake! And, did you pass Marry on the way here?”

“Oh—really? I guess I was so busy listening to my music I didn’t notice… she might had even been calling to me. And yes, I passed a pretty pissed-looking Marry walking away from here.”

Before I knew it, I was flashing back to the time I let Haruka die. I was so busy doing ‘notice me senpai’ with my headphones blasting, I didn’t hear when Haruka slumped back against the seat, his breathing ragged. He might have even been calling to me. But I was selfish and I wanted him to notice me, to care about only me.

I was the cause of his death. All my fault.

All my fault…

“Ah, did I say something wrong?” Chinatsu asked.

“N-no, let’s go help Anayo…”

I turned, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw half of her face. I looked like she was smirking, her eyes flashing red… but when I turned around she had a worried expression and was rushing towards Ayano. “Are you okay…?”

I just stood there awkwardly, until Chinatsu turned towards me and said, “Are you going to help us, or not?”

I looked at her, shocked, as she threw the same insult in my face.

For the second time.

“Hey, Chinatsu!” Kano called.

“Ah, don’t call me that; I hate my name.” ((A/N Chinatsu will be saying ‘Ah’ in this story very much. It’s her thing.))

“What should I call you, then?” Kano asked.

“Call me Chi.”

“Fine. Hey, Chi!”

“What?”

“Can I talk to you outside again?

Chi winced. “What now—?”

Outside,” Kano said, pulling her by the wrists through the door.

Since I was the only one here besides them and the bedridden Kido, I leaned back on the couch, waiting for them to burst through the door, clawing at each other’s throats. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but it looked as if they wanted to. Chi looked absolutely insulted, while Kano looked disgusted. After they both sulked off to their rooms, I took a short couch-nap.

That was the worst mistake of my life.

Oh, the glory of a simple couch-nap.

Aren't I evil? >:P I litterally just came up with this and started typing after I thought about how well it fit in with the rest of the story. The chapter is dedicated to Seita_Shuuya because he is so adorably funny. Go check out Fragment-senpai's work! She's awesome. Time for some Pokemon ending fun:

What will become of Marry's relationship with the Mekakushi-dan? Find out in the next chapter! Who really is Chinatsu Chiyo? Ah, questions!
