Chapter 10: Shounen Brave
Seto POV
“What happened?” I say what is on everyone’s mind.
Oops.
The truth is, I was so shocked at the sudden happening that my power suddenly went off. I quickly shut it off, mentally facepalming.
Ayano was staring white faced at the little orange bottle that she now had in her hand. This time, Kano said what was on my mind: “Nee-chan, what does that say…?” She passes it around, and finally, it gets to me. Reading what the bottle said, I felt my eyes grow huge. “We have to get her inside.”
I pick her up, run into the house, and put her on the couch, draping her long hair over the couch’s arm. I feel her temperature. “She’s ice cold,” I whisper. Kano, being the only one who heard me, pales until he’s as white as a sheet. I feel her pulse. “But she’s alive,” I say, and Kano looks relieved.
Kido is pacing nervously around the room, Hibiya is clutching onto Konoha’s shirt, his shoulders shaking. Marry has collapsed, a while fluff ball on the floor. Ah, she’s back.
Momo, Shintaro, Ayano, and Takane are whispering to each other, and Kano is just frozen there, staring.
“Let me help—” Kano started to say.
“No.” Kido said, “You’ll only make things worse. “
“You say that like you’ll do so much better.”
“Why, you—”
They started yelling at each other. Takane yelled at them to shut up, and soon everyone was yelling.
“You little—!”
“What did you say—?”
“I can’t even begin to say—”
“Just shut up—"
“You can’t talk—"
“You’re making it worse—!”
“I’ll kill you—"
“That’s not fair—"
“You were the one who said—"
Suddenly, Chi started shrieking. And that shriek was a high-pitched one, it didn’t sound like it belonged to Chi at all. Her eyes were open, and they were red as flames. Tears were pouring out of her eyes. Kano ran to her side, clutching her hand. “It’s okay… it’s okay…” hearing his voice, Chi stopped screaming, but she still looked terrified. “No… stop… please!” she mumbled, silent tears still pouring out of her eyes. Hibiya was also there, looking terrified. “Will she be alright…?”
“I’m sure she will.” Kano said, but it sounded like he was trying to convince himself.
“I can’t take it anymore…” Chi mumbled softly. Her eyes were getting less and less red by the minute. Soon, she was asking, “Kano… is that you? And you guys—I was so worried—I thought you were… so I…” She was crying again.
She didn’t make a move to dry her tears. “Are you still paralyzed?” I ask.
“Yes,” she says, and sniffles. “I’ll be like this for a while. A few hours, at the least.”
“What’s the most?” Ayano asked shakily.
“…” she didn’t answer. That was a bad sign.
“Why were you screaming like that?” Konoha asked.
She answered this time, but she seemed reluctant to. “I-I had a vision. It felt so real… a-and…” she didn’t seem to want to say any more. Takane was about to say something, but I interrupted.
“Well, we won’t press you.” She seemed grateful at this statement, and I smiled at her. “Why are you paralyzed anyway?”
“Ah, I think it’s because I overexerted myself, walking all the way to Marry’s home and back with only a short stop in between. I-I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault.” Shintaro said, surprising everyone. “If it’s anyone’s fault, it’s Marry’s for running off with no warning—"
Soon, everyone was bickering again.
In all the commotion, I didn’t realize my power had turned on again. I heard a soft voice… A-ah, please s-stop! Oh, no I can’t speak, it’s getting worse. I might not be able to live through this… I’ll never get a chance to say goodbye… stupid, horrible, pathetic me, forgetting to take my pills.
I stared at her wide eyed. She saw my crimson eyes and blinked twice. Naughty, naughty Seto, but nevertheless, please convey my message. Tell them I’m sorry for being so horrible to them… they’ll understand in time. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry… Tell Kano that— Then the light in her eyes was gone, and I cried out. Kano turned towards me, and time seemed to go in slow-motion.
His eyes filled with tears, sliding down his face. He didn’t bother covering them up. Kido saw Kano was crying, so she went over to check out what was happening. Soon, everyone was either hugging themselves or others, weeping. I looked at Chi one last time, and what I saw then was too much.

Kano became much more bitter, as did everyone else. But Kano was the worst. He was irritable and was yelling most of the time. No one bothered using their powers anymore. We cried whenever we wanted, and we didn’t scout out any more members.
In the end, Kano ended up killing himself with the gun she had used to win first, that day.
And so did everyone else.
I was the last to do so.
Right before I squeezed the trigger, I heard these words in my head:
“Guess I ruined such a happy ending.”
Isn’t it strange, what a single death can do to ten people?
Don't you go: "OMG YOU'RE HORRIBLE LNSDNKNCFL"
Because I was sparing you to what I really had in mind.
Which I will put in a later chapter. >:3
Don't worry the book will still go on in another timeline, where Chi lives through her paralysis. Hence, everyone else lives.
For now...
Okay, okay. Yes I am pretty horrible, but I embrace my horribleness, and you should too. This chapter was the "Bad ending" to my two bad endings and one good ending. At least I'm not ending the book with a bad ending, which, originally, I was planning to do. Thank my brother, because he was like: That's horrible! End it with a good ending!
Sorry if this is up later than usual, My mom made me do MATH.
I was like: BUT MAAAAAAAAAAAAAM, I'M NOT EVEN IN SCHOOL ANYMORE >:(
And she was like: I don't care, you need to stimulate your brain.
And I was like: I wonder which side of the family I got the non-stimulation from?
And this is why I hate visiting my mom and everything that has to do with her.
This pic of Chi is when she's young, playing in the forest. My friend made it in paint on her laptop, so it's a bit grainy... and, God, Kameron, I said GRAY HAIR, NOT WHITE HAIR. SCREW YOU.
I need new drawing friends.
Anyways, Bai, embrace the power of your inner horribleness, and be safe.
