One week passed by fast and it was finally time for Jackie to be sent back home with Mr. Vandel. With her luck, her burn had been healed enough, but still required a lot of attention back at home. Bandages were reapplied every few hours and she dreaded every second of it. On the other hand, Jackie hated the hospital, so she was ecstatic to leave.
After a filling breakfast of toast and eggs- supported by the hospital staff- she waited for Mr. Vandel, Finn and Cole to pick her up. She missed Cole the most and was dying to see him. A half an hour later, Mr. Vandel and Finn arrived to get her but no Cole.
"Aye, Jackie!" Mr. Vandel greeted happily with open arms.
Jackie attempted wheeling herself over to them, but her finger got stuck between the wheel and she let out a small yelp.
"You alright?" Mr. Vandel asked as he put his hand on her shoulder. Jackie looked at her finger and then back at Mr. Vandel.
Jackie nodded silently and waited for Finn to begin pushing her out of the room. Jackie soaked the vapid room that she had been in for two weeks and finally managed to feel happier.
"Where's Cole?" Jackie inquired as she scanned the apartment for any signs of Cole. Jackie did not see any evidence of Cole. No clothes of his were lying on the ground and the smell he carried, which was a woody type, was not lurking around.
Finn and Mr. Vandel exchanged worried looks, not knowing how to respond. They didn't want to make her anymore depressed than she already was at the time.
"Um, we need to have a talk when we, uh, get home." Finn replied.
Jackie glared mysteriously at Finn who blushed immediately. It's hard to hide under the covers when it comes to the one you love.

"Where are we?" Jackie inquired, looking at the weird tall building. It was at least one hundred floors high.
"Well, we live here now." Finn replied nonchalantly as he opened the entrance door for Jackie. Jackie was pushed in and she looked around the lobby feeling completely confused.
"Well, apparently I missed out on a lot," Jackie's tone was biting, "what happened?" Jackie inquired as she tried to turn around in her wheelchair to see Finn.
Mr. Vandel put a hand in the air to signal that he wanted to explain the situation.
"Well, when the Nazis ran out of the forest and Finn was trying to shout for you to come back, Some Nazis-"
Pigeons.
Jackie thought to herself, allowing a smile to appear on her lips. Before they noticed her odd smile, she quickly returned to reality.
"-from the East fired at our cottage and then set it on fire once we ran off to find Cole. Finn forgot that he had let you fall asleep on the couch, so he ran back in and grabbed you. Your shirt had caught on fire, so he did have to take that off. Don't worry, it was for the sake of your health. You could have died, Jackie, so don't get all worked up about that. It was in our best interest to save you. Anyway, your back was facing the room, so your back received the worst burns. When he brought you outside, you were completely unconscious from the smoke inhalation. I am absolutely astonished at the fact that your injuries were not lethal. You are one lucky gal, Jackie."
Jackie's mouth was ajar as she let the fact that Cole took off her shirt sink in. He saw everything that Jackie did not want him to see. She connected the dots after revisiting the fact that he had been so odd the past few weeks since then.
"Okay, as odd as that sounds, what happened to Cole and where is he?" Jackie asked, avoiding the topic of her own wellbeing.
"We do not know where Cole is or what happened to him unfortunately." Mr. Vandel stated bluntly.
It was silent as Mr. Vandel typed in the number to go up to the seventh floor of the apartment. Finn held his breath as if he knew Jackie was going to explode.
"WHAT?" Jackie snapped angrily, realizing what this meant. She attempted to stand up on the elevator but it didn't work. "SOMEONE JUST GET ME OUT OF THIS DAMN WHEELCHAIR!" She wailed as Finn became worried and tried calming her down.
Jackie's fist clenched as she hit pounded her fists against the plastic arm rest on the wheelchair, allowing all of her emotions to spew out uncontrollably.
"We don't know for sure if he's dead or alive, Jackie. We honest to God don't know." Finn convinced as he tried giving Jackie a hug.
Jackie did not hesitate to push him away. Finn stumbled back, caught off guard by her emerging frustration. Seeing this side of Jackie was almost amusing to him in a way. She was so powerful.
"I-I don't want him to be dead..." Jackie sniffed, a tear falling down her cheek.
She loved her brother the most out of anything and everything in the entire world. He was the only living relative she had left. How could Cole, the one who gave her the present, a hug, and the comfort she needed, make a cake when he despised baking, die. The concept of death as a whole was nearly too much for her to digest. Jackie wheeled sadly and slowly out of the elevator behind the two guys. Mr. Vandel opened the door and pointed towards Jackie's room so she knew where it was. Jackie flashed a quick smile but then wheeled to her room and locked the door. She paid no attention to what her room even looked like, all she needed was a place to let her emotions out.
"Ja-" Finn was stopped by the sound of Jackie's soft cry coming from her room. He dropped his fist from the door and began to walk away.
