Choi Jun-Myeon seethed as he stormed out of the courtroom. The fucking nerve of that omega. His chest heaved and jaw clenched as fury surged within him.
The purebred alpha couldn't believe he lost to two regular omegas, who were a nobody if he may add. They had no background and no wealth. Hell, he wondered if they even had a proper roof over their head, yet, like pests infesting a fertile land, they had infested his life and left him with a stain.
I'll teach you a lesson.
You'll regret this, omega.
I'll make sure of it.
The fine itself was laughable, but the court had announced that he was guilty. A little bit of money would make people forget this day and he never cared about his reputation anyway.
He only cared about losing and that too, to some puny, useless omegas. But he'll get past this. He was a purebred afterall. He'd bounce back in no time. As for those omegas, he couldn't promise the same.
Outside the courthouse, the reporters waited to catch a glimpse of him and there was a huge buzz. The eagerness in their eyes reminded him of a hungry predator.
He began to walk toward them but a grip in his arm stopped him. "Mr. Choi, our car is out back. We can leave without anyone noticing," his assistant suggested.
He yanked his hand free, eyes narrowed and nostrils flaring as his anger burned hotter. "No. The public saw me coming in and they will now see me walking out too. I'm not a coward." He squared his shoulders. "Also I have a little parting gift for the two victors." He wore his goggles with a malicious intention that was nowhere near good. "Attorney Oh, what's the punishment for a little mistake?" he mused.
"A mistake?" Attorney Oh cocked his head to the side, looking perplexed. "Explain this mistake."
"Don't worry. Just a mere tongue slip," he replied, walking past him and toward the crowd.
"It depends on the slip, sir."
The reporters flooded the steps and surrounded him in an instant. The attorneys acted as a barrier between them and him. The group erupted into questions and more chaos unleashed. They all called his name, demanding his attention.
Jun-Myeon pushed through the throng of reporters, halting at the center. Immediately they shoved their microphones toward him and bombarded him the same questions. He lifted a hand to silence all of them.
"I'm finally free," he announced, his voice smooth and laced with a false sense of humility.
The crowd went ballistic but he silenced him again. Anticipation thickened in the air, everyone eager to get more inside information.
"Wait. Wait. I'm not done talking." He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "The court found me guilty and I've been penalized for my mistake, which was a misunderstanding actually. I respect the jury's decision. My attorney here will explain the truth. However, all I have to say is that I have had a lot of time in detention to reflect on my past behavior and I feel ashamed for my irresponsible actions." He sniffed. "No matter what the truth is, like the jury said, two unfortunate students happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I, hereby apologize to both of them." He bowed ninety-degrees, eliciting a lot of gasps. Because no purebred bowed to the public, especially toward regular wolves. "I'm sorry." He straightened and put a hand over his heart with a distraught look on his face. "I was intoxicated and didn't know what I was doing. In my mind, I was hugging my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?"
"Who is your girlfriend?"
"Are you dating?"
"Is this a new development?"
Jun-Myeon ignored all their remarks and exhaled loudly. "Let bygones be bygones. From the bottom of my heart, I deeply apologize and would like to tell you all and my family that I'm ashamed of my past actions." He bowed.
There were several whispers and murmurs. Gasps filled the air as they all processed his statement. He smiled inwardly before straightening and gave them a pitiful look.
I'm ashamed of handling it the way I did. I'm ashamed of underestimating the situation. I'm ashamed of failing.
And then he said their names. "Jeon Jungkook and Ha Kwan, I'm sorry." He bowed again.
It's game over for you now.
He smirked, staring at his polished boots.
Let's see how you're gonna get out of this one. Now everyone knows who you are.
He straightened up and scanned the reporter's faces that were slowly filling up with shock and surprise as they realized he just revealed something he shouldn't. A few looked stunned and confused as to how to react in this situation while the others tried to make the most out of it.
Jun-Myeon took a deep breath and relished the chaos he just unleashed. "I'll be careful with my behavior and watch my every step. I'll continue to reflect on my actions. I'll work very hard to become a better person in every sense. Thank you." He began to walk toward his car without another word.
The namedrop had worked like a charm, several reporters wrote it down and the murmurs among them was music to his ears. Jun-Myeon's malicious grin remained hidden behind his fake smile.
Let's see how you're gonna protect them now, Jimin.
"So that was the slip you were talking about," Attorney Oh wondered once they were inside his car. "You can just release a statement and claim that it was a mistake and you didn't mean it."
"I'll think about it." He glanced outside.
"They would have never expected this," Attorney Oh laughed. "That was very clever."
Jun-Myeon smiled. "Always think simple. From here on out, it's your responsibility to cover my ass, Attorney Oh. Make sure you cover every loophole in the law."
"Oh, I will, sir. Don't you worry about it."
Jun-Myeon eased in his seat, fingers tapping on his thigh as his thoughts reeled. They may have won in court but the real battle had just begun. He was outside now. He would show them why they should have never crossed him.
No one crosses me and walks away without paying the price. Especially an omega like you. Everyday from now will become a war of survival for you and I'll guarantee you that.
