"After everything, he's still gonna walk free," Kwan murmured. "What's the point about all this? What's with the law? It's unfair to say they will punish him only if there had been an actual rape. It's ridiculous." The omega scoffed. "It's literally as if they're mocking me, telling me to get violated in order to punish the asshole."

"There must be a crime to punish them for it. Intention doesn't matter to the court. Here, there was no actual crime according to them." Jungkook clenched his jaw. This was expected but that didn't make it any easier. "Our laws are made by purebred alphas. Obviously it's going to be in their favor. They're gonna penalize him under assault and harassment, but that's only a fine as per law."

"I'm not surprised," Kwan replied. "Honestly...If not for your alpha he would have walked out without even paying this fine. I'm just bummed out that a few months of detention was all he got. But then I'm also glad that he at least got that."

"Me too." The entire system had to be reformed and these things ran deeper than any of their comprehension. The wisest decision would have been to suck it up and move on with one's life. Because here, only the purebreds won such battles.

"Jimin hyung should have reshaped his face and broken a few bones that day." Kwan huffed. "At least he got a few punches in. I'll take comfort in that."

He totally did.

Jungkook chuckled. "And I wish you were awake to witness that. Jun-Myeon stumbled with every hit and couldn't even get one back."

Kwan giggled merrily. "Can't wait for this to be over. I wanna go and cuddle with my alpha. He promised to bring my favorite snacks in the evening, but he couldn't take off because of an important meeting."

Jungkook wished Jimin was here too. "I'm meeting my hyung after this."

Just then there was an announcement. As the court reconvened, the atmosphere was suddenly filled with tension and anticipation. There were gentle murmurs from the crowd in the background of shuffling papers and clicking pens.

Jungkook sat upright, his back ramrod straight as he awaited the verdict. Kwan intertwined his fingers with him for support. Tension radiated off him and Jungkook squeezed his hand. He remained stoic despite his heart hammering in his chest.

Choi Jun-Myeon sat smugly, surrounded by his legal team and Jungkook didn't miss the occasional glances he sent the omega's way. Jungkook noticed every time the alpha smirked. It was almost as if he was challenging him or trying to show him that he was untouchable.

If he didn't have Jimin behind him, he'd be cowering under that intense gaze that was unsettling in every way. Perhaps Jungkook would have moved to another city just to avoid running into him again. So he could understand Kwan's fear more than anyone else in this courtroom.

Judge Jang cleared his throat, commanding attention. He sifted through the documents in his hands. "After reviewing the evidence presented by both sides and listening to the testimonies from both sides, the court finds Mr. Choi Jun-Myeon guilty on two counts."

A round of cheers interrupted the court right then while Jungkook and Kwan sat unmoving. The gavel struck once, silencing everyone.

"Mr. Choi Jun-Myeon is guilty of assault and harassment of the two regular wolves. First, for the charge of assault, the court orders a fine of five million won. Second, for the charge of harassment, the court orders him a fine of additional fifteen million won."

Choi Jun-Myeon turned his entire body toward the audience section, tilting his head to smile eerily at Jungkook and Kwan. Jungkook met his gaze head on, unblinking and unwavering. He felt the terrified squeeze on his hand, Kwan's grip tightening. He squeezed back in assurance. Jungkook could tell Jun-Myeon was irritated by his reaction, but there was also a flicker of amusement.

The collective murmur rippling through the courtroom was just white noise to Jungkook's ears as he stared at Jun-Myeon. There was no doubt his money had cushioned the blow and this conviction was more lenient but it was a victory nonetheless. And a very few regular omegas in history had won a legal battle against a purebred wolf. Jungkook probably was setting a history.

Jun-Myeon was now a convict, though his crime was minor in this regard and his penalty very low. His record would forever be stained. They won.

The gavel struck again, silencing the courtroom and drawing their attention. "As for Park Jimin, this court finds him not guilty," the judge announced. "His actions are seen as an act of self defense and protection. He's cleared of all charges."

This time Jungkook clapped, his grin wide and eyes twinkling. "Yes," he murmured. "Take that, asshat."

Jun-Myeon scoffed, averting his gaze to say something to his legal team.

"Damn, he's so scary. I think I'd have peed if it wasn't for you," Kwan hissed. "Aren't you scared? His looks are giving me creeps."

Jungkook shook his head. "Not really. I know we aren't alone."

"Ah, that's true." Kwan sighed. "Can we leave now? It's over."

"We can't. Also we need to check in with Attorney Kim."

"Okay," Kwan relented immediately.

The session wrapped after a few more minutes and the courtroom soon emptied, leaving only the two teams of attorneys along with the two regular omegas. Prosecutor Jun and Attorney Kim approached him first.

"Congratulations," Attorney Kim said. "That's a win."

Jungkook smiled. "Thank you for working hard."

"Yes, thank you for everything." Kwan bowed.

Prosecutor Jun was about to say something but his features hardened and eyes narrowed when he saw someone approaching them. Jungkook turned his head to see Jun-Myeon and Attorney Oh striding toward them with a victorious grin.

"Jungkook, isn't it?" Jun-Myeon said. "I knew you were trouble, but never accounted how much pain you'd become. But I must admit you're more of my type than your friend here." He rubbed his chin as his gaze trailed over him. "It should have been you that night." His smirk was dirty just like the intention behind his gaze. "Bet you're a screamer."

Attorney Kim's face contorted with rage and he tried to intervene but Jungkook stopped him by lifting a hand.

"That's for me to know and for you to never find out," Jungkook responded in a calm, cool tone. His voice steady and gaze narrowed.

Jun-Myeon snorted. "Feisty." He sniffed. "I like taming feisty bitches."

"So does Jimin. In his case, he likes to tame assholes like you," he countered.

Jun-Myeon laughed out loud, the sound cutting through the growing tension like a knife. Kwan's trembling hand snaked around Jungkook's elbow as he plastered himself to his side.

"If you had been on my side, omega...I'd have showered you with more than whatever Jimin has given you." Jun-Myeon stared at him intently. He pushed both hands inside his pockets. "Anyways, let bygones be bygones. What do you say?"

Jungkook didn't respond but held his gaze. He wasn't afraid in the least. Jun-Myeon was an asshole and it showed. Not that he had any respect for him before.

"I have a pretty good offer for you." Jun-Myeong grinned. "Only because you're prettier than your friend here. I can be generous if you agree."

"Not interested."

Jun-Myeon's ugly grin widened. "You didn't even hear me out."

"There's no need." Jungkook notched his chin. "You just lost a case against me. I don't think you're ready for another battle."

Jun-Myeon burst into laughter. Then he glanced at his attorneys, pointing at Jungkook. "He's good. He is." He waved his index finger in the omega's direction while continuing to laugh.

"I know I am," Jungkook replied. "Perhaps you should ask Attorney Na Ha-Kun. He too tried something like this and I wonder how that ended up for him."

All traces of laughter dropped from Jun-Myeon's face. "You don't know who you're messing with," he growled. "At the end of the day, you'll be discarded like the useless trash you are. Jimin won't be there to protect you and I'll have the last laugh." He closed the distance between them but stopped when Attorney Kim put a hand on his chest. "Who's gonna protect you then?" he asked in a mocking tone. "Is this Attorney going to guard you like the dog he is?" he snapped. "You should be afraid of me and think twice before you speak. This case is over. Means...you're no longer protected."

Jungkook stared at him before smiling. "I'm not afraid of you, Choi Jun-Myeon," he stated in a dangerously calm tone. "You're just a snake without its venom." He patted Kwan's hand gently. "Let's go."

Jun-Myeon's face contorted with rage. "You don't know what you're talking about."

No. You don't know what you're talking about.

Jungkook shrugged. "Then let's keep it that way. I have some important things to attend to." He then glanced at Kwan. "Let's go."

"We will meet again, Jungkook."

Jungkook scoffed. "We really shouldn't."

"Why? Are you afraid of what I could do to you?" Jun-Myeon taunted.

No, I'm afraid of what my alpha and hyung could do to you.

"Go out and touch some grass." Jungkook took a step back, putting the much needed distance between them. "Bet they didn't supply that in the detention center. Oh, and get some fresh air too while you're at it."

Because I'm not sure how long you'll get it.

"That was...wow..." Kwan whispered when they exited the courtroom. "Asshole thinks we're afraid of him."

"We would be if not for my alpha or those bodyguards," Jungkook said. "You should be careful. I'll inform hyung to never pull the bodyguards from you just in case. I don't trust him."

"I don't have a good feeling about this," Kwan replied. "You know that weird sensation you get in your belly when something unpleasant is about to happen? I feel like that."

"Me too." Jungkook exhaled.

"But you were super cool back there. It's surprising to see you like this. I like it." He bumped into his side.

"I guess Taehyung hyung is rubbing off on me."

Kwan winked at him and they laughed together, ignoring the crawling sensation of someone watching them on their backs.
