Lessons In Life
Today I learned a lot of things just by living life.
#1: Toilet Paper
I was using the restroom (sorry, awkward topic. I know) and I went to get toilet paper, but only one square came off. I got frustrated because I can't do much with a single square of toilet paper, so I went to get more. But in my frustration, I accidentally took like 10 more squares than I needed.
I know I'm weird, but the way I looked at this is, sometimes when we're asking God for something, he will do it, but not as much as we'd like him to. We then get angry at him and try to do it ourselves, but we end up biting off more than we can chew. So trust in God that what he gives you is what you need, even if it is only one square.
#2: Slugs
My family has struggled with slugs slithering around in our house. It's gross. However, we hadn't seen any slugs for a good while. Yesterday we were talking about that and we were all so glad that they were gone, but as soon as I walk in to the bathroom this morning, guess what I see? A slug. I immediately thought, wow. It's crazy how fast things can get taken away from you. We had freedom from the slugs for a bit, but as soon as we begin being thankful for it, another slug is sent our way. So pretty much what I'm saying is be thankful for the easy times in life because Satan could throw a mean, difficult situation at you at any moment. Just be prepared.
#3: Tree
Okay, so about four years ago, my sister was drum major for our marching band show. In that show we had a tree sitting on the side, along with a few others props, as decoration and to set the theme of the show (Night Terrors was the name of the show.) After that year's marching season came to an end, my mom wanted to take the tree and plant it in our yard so we would remember that year forever, but the man who gave us the tree insisted that the tree was dead and planting it would be pointless. We couldn't blame him though. It had no leaves on it and just looked... Well, dead! My mom didn't care though. We planted it right outside the fence around our backyard and guess what? That tree is as alive as it can be! It's bloomed with great big leaves and flowers on it. It's absolutely beautiful!
What I learned from this is to never give up on someone or something. It may seem hopeless, but if you have faith and do the things you need to do, God is going to fix it and make you alive inside again!
#4: Feelings
I'm not going to go into total detail with this one because it's kind of personal to me, but let's just say I've had a crap ton of different feelings and for a while I just kept them bottled up and it was seriously beating me down. I started to let it affect most of my actions. Those feelings I kept inside were holding me back from being good and focusing on what I needed to do (in my case marching, my relationship, and above all, God), but what I've learned yesterday and today is to not keep those feelings in because they were just dragging me down. If you need to, let those feelings out! After I let them out, oh goodness, I felt 100 times better! They were no longer beating me down. I also just had to forget about them and put my focuses back where they needed to be. After you let them go, they're gone! Don't let them seep back in and hurt you again, but for all of this to work, you must pray.
There are SO many little lessons just in everyday life! All of these just came to me today! And the day is only halfway done! I can't wait for more lessons!
God will speak to us in unique, sometimes hard to understand ways. We just have to be listening and ready.
Thanks for reading, my lovelies! You are amazing and wonderful!!! I love you! God bless you all!
