#53: Blindsided

Dazai peaks around the corner and sees his partner leaning against a wall. Alone.

Perfect.

He approaches the redhead.

"Ne, Chuuya!"

His tone is so sickeningly sweet, Chuuya immediately scowls.

"What do you want?"

"I have a question for you."

Chuuya sighs. "Out with it."

Dazai's face instantly gets serious. So instantly that it's unsettling.

"I've noticed that, sometimes when I'm talking to Odasaku, you look...mad. And not in your usual Chibi way. You look betrayed and disappointed. What's up with that?"

Chuuya's face flushes. "Wh-what?? Mad?? Betrayed?? Disappointed??? Where the hell did you get that?"

"From your face."

Chuuya sputters. "Wh--I--I don't feel any of those things! You're so conceited, you think every thing and every one revolves around you. Well, I don't. Even if I'm your partner."

"I also noticed your expression changed when I said Odasaku's name."

Chuuya freezes.

"Fufu, is Chuuya jealous? Does he want me to devote my undivided attention to him? Had he finally fallen hopelessly in love with me? Just say the word, and I'm all yours~!"

"Fuck off."

Dazai smirks. "Fine. I go talk to Odasaku."

The way the brunette drawls out his friend's name makes Chuuya feel sick. The way he saunters away makes him feel even sicker.

Dazai was right.

But would Chuuya ever admit that? Most certainly not.

He sinks down and hugs his knees, groaning to himself in annoyance about his stupid feelings he kept denying and denying.

Chuuya pulls his hat over his eyes and closes them. All he can see plastered in images upon his eyelids are bandages.
