Lenka

The next morning I woke up to was probably the worst I had so far.

It was bearable but my body was feeling the muscles in pain. For some reason, it was disturbing and made me get out of bed so late. I was intentionally stalling for school and I have no other reason why I have to skip it so I settled with a heavy sigh before I rolled out of bed and to the bathroom to shower and change and go to school like I used to do.

The sun was already high up when I arrived and the school guard didn’t even bat an eye.

I completely forgot about Kano and Nikki but I’ll just check up on them later. Right now, I was craving for sunblock because the sun was starting to make me quite tanned. I don’t like it.

I took cover with my building and went to my next class of course; the teacher just raised a brow at me. What? Did I forget to brush my hair? I didn’t but what is it with you guys?

“Miss Kagamine, it seems like you enjoyed staying at bed. Don’t worry; soon enough, the week end will be here.” I took it that she didn’t like to place my name at her students who were late. Besides, I can skip subject, even drop it but that would make me quite bored at home.

The class resumed and I didn’t fins Len beside me. Weird.

Wait…what did I do last night?

Thanks to that unwanted flashback, I was probably as red as a tomato.

Speaking of red…

Where’s Lyra?

Meh, probably still tired with the commotion from yesterday evening.

So I should spend my whole day alone?

Lovely.

After my morning classes, I went to the canteen in hope to spot anyone else I know only to see a girl with a long blonde hair tied to a side ponytail and was holding a phone.

“Neru.” I called her and she heard me call her and turned around.

She was still the same, she had the habit of wearing glasses despite having no eye problems.

“Lenka! My gosh! I though you transferred to another school.” She flipped her phone close and hugged me.

I chuckled. “Why would I? This is the nearest place I can go to. Town house is way too noisy. Too many cars and whatnot.” I told her and hugged her again.

It’s been quite some time. The whole summer, she didn’t text me and had no sort of communication at all. It was a miracle she still knows I’m here.

“So? What have you been up to lately, Miss Ice queen?” Neru asked and gave me a nudge.

“Soon enough that tittle would be stripped off me. I’m just doing the usual. Being irritable to others and trying to ignore the rest of the society while I try to survive.” I told her. That all wasn’t a lie.

“Oh? Why so?” She grinned at me and fixed her glasses. “Someone finally melted your frozen heart?”

I laughed because of her and movie references.

“Well, maybe but I’m more of trying not to be problematic. It is school.” I told her and finally was our turn to get our food.

I ordered something sweet and another sweet drink to spoil myself a little bit since I miss eating these, especially the good stuff from this place.

Neru and I exchanged stories of what was going on with her and my life. Turns out she was starting to write her own stories. She wanted to be a written you see so I helped her do her first story and that was a year ago. I wonder how many stories have she published online.

“I heard that Len Kagamine transferred next to you. That true?” She asked and I nodded. How could I say no? It was true and what about it?

Now that she mentioned his name, I felt blood rush to my cheeks. I swear I’m blushing.

“Well, aren’t you lucky? How I wish someone would actually appear out of nowhere and accept me for my weirdness of texting, and phones. By the way, you think you can get me an IPhone 5S? I’ll pay you back.” Her, gadgets, and love—she always seem to find herself around those. I find that cute.

“Oh, when do you need it? I can get one for you in an hour if you like.” I told her and took out my phone to contact someone to do me the said favor.

“In a week. I have a lot of things to before that. You okay with that?”

“Of course.” I picked out an empty table and sat there with her. Seeing that none of them was going to show up anytime soon, I might as well hang out with her while she’s not busy.

We talked and had a good chat for the rest of lunch and I see no wrong things about that.

I somehow missed the silence but was disturbed by it. What was so off this day?

“Probably because you got so used to them in a first couple days then they suddenly got out of your field of vision. You sure have a weakness you display.” Rin told me. You can say that she’s got a point.

“Lenka?” Neru snapped me out of my thoughts with Rin until I noticed that we have stopped in front of my next class.

“Huh? Oh. Sorry. I was just thinking about something.” I told her and she suddenly broke to a grin.

“Who? Len?” She asked. Close. Really close.

“What? No!” I made haste to deny her words though I’m just embarrassed to tell the truth.

“Whew~ Lenka’s got a crush~” She teased and laughed about it. I was pouting at her direction and didn’t like it when she joked like that.

“I do not.” I told her.

The bell rang for my next class and I just gave her a short goodbye before I entered the room.

Even though lunch was a little sad, the next class was completely a day-maker.

“Yo~” Len was sited at his chair next to mine and greeted me casually.

Like nothing happened yesterday.

I remembered that I didn’t like to talk to him so I pretended to pout and took my place next to him.

Do you know that moment where you find yourself in a disadvantage because you picked the wrong place to sit in from the start of the year? Yeah.

“Hey, what did you do in the morning?” He asked and I gave him no response. No matter how much I would like to tell him that we were required to give out own I.D. pictures by next week, I just rested my head at my folded arms and looked at the direction opposite of him.

“Come on, Lenka, what did I do to make you pout like this?” He asked. Oh, wow. That’s cute.

“Nothing at all. You just came in too late in class, that’s all.” Why did I talk? I thought I wouldn’t? And to think that I was dropping hints at his face.

“So you mean you missed me?” He asked.

Ding Ding Ding~ Bingo, Mister Kagamine.

Wow. This is not me at all.

Damn teenage hormones.

Wait, do vampires even have their hormones moving around?

I didn’t like to think about it.

“Well, no. I just didn’t like having no company at all.” I excused with a believable tone.

“I see. Well, I am here so you won’t be lonely for the rest of the day~” He told me and touched my sides which made me jolt up and blush. My sides are very, very, ticklish.

“Gah! Don’t do that, please?” I asked of him and pouted.

“Okay, Okay~ just stop pouting. You look to adorable to resist.” He told me and grinned.

Ah, Len is always Len.

“Agreed.”
