Pursuit

"Nothing..."

"Serena..." You sigh at the blonde irritably. It's been over an hour since she has been at it. You were in her bedroom waiting for her to finally pick out an outfit to wear for her very first date of her entire life.

"There's nothing...!" Serena groans in frustration. Her golden hair sticking out in every direction as she furiously scratches her head. "NOTHING!"

"SERENA." You say loudly and sternly, capturing her attention with wide eyes.

"Did you just use the tone on me?!" She gasps, feigning a hurtful look. You sigh again.

"Sorry, it's just that you are starting to get on my nerves a bit." You admit with a chuckle. Serena flops down on the bed with a pout. You watch her carefully. Although you don't like to admit to yourself, you were always jealous of the beautiful blonde you call your best friend. I mean...who wouldn't?

Her long blonde curls. Her gorgeous green eyes. Her fantastically shaped body. She was practically a model for god's sake. Being anywhere near her presence made you feel like a potato!

"I don't understand why you can't just pick an outfit and go already," You murmur to yourself. "You're already beautiful, so any outfit would do, right?" You say this while turning to her. Her emerald green orbs stare back at you before she flashes a wide grin. "You always know what to say, (Name)."

Standing up, she heads for the closet and picks out a sexy red dress. You get up from your seat and head over to her, grabbing a brush, and gently brushing her hair while she applies make-up on.

"(Name),"

"Hm?" You hum a response.

"Why don't you ever go on dates?"

"Uhh-"

"I mean, you're cute and sweet. Not to mention an amazing friend. Any guy would be lucky to have you."

You frown at this. Sure you were okay and all, but getting a boyfriend never seemed to interest you since that day.

Serena looks at your frowning reflection, finally realizing from your silence. "Oh...Sorry..."

You shake your head and force out a smile. "Don't apologize. I just don't believe in love is all." The blonde sighs at your words. It's been over two years since you stopped caring. She knew you did it to protect everyone around you, even herself.

"Done~" You chime and give her a hug. Serena stood up and twirls around. She was absolutely PERFECT.

"Knock him dead, hon~" You give her one last hug when the doorbell rang. Serena smiled, walked out the door, and you could hear the two of them outside. Watching carefully from the window, you sigh at the sight of them smiling at each other. What is love anyway?

The word seemed foreign to you. You have never dated before but you had a few crushes, they only lasted a few months. There were some guys that were attracted to you and you felt the same way but they turned away from you after finding out what you were. A monster.

A single tear escaped from your eye and you hurriedly wipe it away before heading to the living room and grabbing your spare key of the house. You walk out the door and lock it.

The night was quiet. Eerily quiet.

Sparkling diamonds filled the dark sky as you quicken your pace, hurrying to get home. There were too many dangers when you were by yourself. A black car suddenly pulling up in front of you just proved your point. Three men in white suits and dark shades step out. You take a step back warily eyeing the three strangers.

"Ms. (Name), I presume?" The tall man inquired. He had a sleeping mask over his forehead and has curly black hair. You flinch under his gaze. "Y-Yeah, that'd be me."

"The World Government wants you. Please step inside the vehicle." He instructs, gesturing to the open car door.

You take another step back which made him frown a bit. "Ms. (Name), I suggest you follow us before things start to get ugly." The man says in a sightly lower tone causing a shiver down your spine. You knew where this was going though. It always ends up like this.

"Sorry," You say before taking off the opposite direction. "I DON'T WANNA!"

The three of them stare at you running away, trying to register what had happened. "S-Sir Kuzan, should we give chase?!" One of the men say, turning to him. The tall man named Kuzan sighs and nods. He hated it when his targets try to escape.

You turn a corner and duck behind a dumpster. You were sweating bullets from all the running and needed air badly. "Damn, that was close." You gasp.

Loud footsteps interrupt your moment of peace and you look towards the source. "Please don't make me do this the hard way." Kuzan grumbles sleepily. You took off again down the alleyway while forcing yourself to not look back and check if he was following you or not.

However the footsteps that were behind you were the only answer you seem to need. Don't look back. Don't look back.

A heavy hand grabs your wrist and twists your arm to your back making you scream in pain. "L-Let go!" You wail as he pushes his hand further, twisting your arm more.

"Sorry, but I did warn you to not let me do this the hard way." Kuzan said. "So I'm going to need to freeze you to avoid...FURTHER escaping possibilities...IMPOSSIBLE." Clutching your other arm that was flailing around, he grips on to you as he concentrated.

You felt a sudden chill on your arms and looked up to the arm he was holding above your head. No...! Help me! Please! Someone help me!

"(Name), get your shit together and kick this bastard's ass." A familiar voice echoed in your head.

You shut your eyes tight and felt a numbing feeling spreading throughout your body. Kuzan raised a confused brow and felt his energy draining away. "What the-"

You kick him in the groin making him fall over. "Sorry, pops, I told you already that I. DON'T. WANT. TO." You emphasize each word carefully as you grab him by the shoulders, instantly freezing him from the shoulder down.

His teeth chattered a bit and his lips turned pale as he looked at you with sleepy eyes. "H-How-?"

"Guess the government didn't inform you about my abilities. Too bad, so sad." You huff. "Don't worry though. I'm sure your men will find you before you freeze to death."

You gave him a wave before disappearing into the shadows.

A familiar face was standing outside the large black gates. A couple of cigars hung from his mouth as he blew out a puff of smoke. His bike leaned against the 10 foot tall walls of your home. "Smokey!" You gasp.

He turns to you and scowls. "It's Smoker."

You run over and gave him a hug. He was hesitant but hugs you back nonetheless. You pull away, giving a sheepish smile. "What are you-"

"Your parents were worried so they called me over to come check on you." He cuts you off, gazing at the large gates that were tall as the walls you have been isolated in. You frown a bit but smile up at him when he turns his gaze to you.

"No worries, Smokey, I'm fine." You assure him with your arms open wide.

He eyes you suspiciously before poking one of your arms, making you wince at the slight pain. "OWwww..SMOKEY, WHAT THE HELL?" You pout at him furiously, which only made you look cute instead of threatening.

"If you say you're okay then why the hell are there bruises on your arms,(Name)?" He scolds, taking both of your arms for him to see the damage. There were red hand prints on your arms which you assume were from that Kuzan guy.

"U-Umm-I-You see, Smokey-"

"Stop calling me that." He glares at you.

"Please don't hurt me!" You pout.

Smoker grunts at you before picking you up and bringing you inside the house. Both your parents were out on a business trip, thankfully, and the house was silent. The only ones present were you and some worried servants that came rushing to your aid as soon as they see you being carried by Smoker.

"Get her some ice for her bruises." He instructs them. They nod as he carefully sets her down on one of the sofas.

"What happened, (Name)?" He asks when the maids brought over the ice and placed them on your arms. They bowed to Smoker and you before leaving to their quarters.

You shift uneasily under the intense gaze of the platinum haired male sitting across from you.

"I-I was...chased...by some government guys." You finally confess and began to tell him the story in as much detail as possible. Smoker frowns after hearing this. "They're getting desperate if they were willing to send one of the admirals after you." He sighs. "Guess I have no choice."

You blink, slightly uneasy and sightly confused to hear his statement. "What do you mean?"

He looks at you with serious eyes, white smoke partially covering your vision of him. "Have you ever heard of The Academy?"
