The cold morning air sent shivers down your back as you opened one eye to take in your surroundings. Was it morning already?

A familiar grin was in your line of vision and a pair of round blue eyes that screamed for excitement. "Wakey wakey, sleeping beauty~" Your roommate giggled.

"G'morning, Koa..." You groaned and covered your face with your blanket. "Five more minutes..."

She laughed. "Well you don't have classes yet anyway. Lucky. I'll be heading out now. See you at lunch?" Koala was already at the door with her books in hand. After giving a nod, she left the room to let you continue your sleep.

*Koala's POV*

Slowly walking out of the girl's dorm, a teen with blonde hair caught her attention. He was leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets, seemingly to be waiting for someone. "Hey Sabo," She greeted.

His head snapped towards her direction and he briefly paused. From the expression on his face, he seemed to be trying to remember her name. "Koala. (Name)'s roommate." She informed the clueless lad. He smiled sheepishly with a hand rubbing his neck. "Heh. Sorry. I figured you looked familiar."

He walks over and falls in step with her as she continued walking towards the main building. "So what are you doing outside of the girl's dorm?" Koala asks with a smirk. She probably knew the answer already but she wanted to know who the lucky girl was.

Sabo's cheeks suddenly flushed pink and he turned his face away in embarrassment. "I-I was just waiting for someone.." He admits.

"Yeah, I know that." She chuckled, rolling her eyes. "I wanna know who."

Again, his cheeks turned a billion shades of pink as he hung his head in a fluster. Whoa, he must be in pretty deep. She thought to herself. "Well whoever it is let me know if I can help out, 'kay?" She gives him a wink.

"Th-Thanks."

*Ace's POV*

It was around 5:30 in the morning and he couldn't go back to sleep. The room was strangely quiet so he got up only to find the other bed empty and blankets neatly folded. Where did Sabo go? Ace frowned.

He got out of bed, pulled on a shirt, and left the room.

The sun was slowly ascending the horizon but the chilly air from last night still lingered around the area. The smell of pine trees made the freckled teen relax and he gave himself a good stretch.

The pink dormitory was on the other side of the forest. Remembering you were currently living there and the fact that both of you didn't have to start classes yet, he decided that it would be a fantastic idea to pop in for a visit.

*Your POV*

You could feel the dawn's light trying to pry your eyes open. Still tired, you turn over and grab on to the pillow beside you. The pillow wasn't plush and soft like it had been last night when you fell asleep. It was strangely hard and muscular, almost human even.

A strange intoxicating yet relaxing scent filled your lungs as you breathe in and nestled your face closer to the warmth radiating from the— Wait a minute...

You quickly snap your eyes open and see skin. Oh. My. Gosh. You rolled out of bed and land on the floor with a loud thud.

"(Name)?!"

You groan, rubbing a hand on your pounding head. "Ace, what are you doing in the girls' dorm?" You sigh at the freckled boy who peered over from the bed with a slightly concerned look on his face.

"You're going to get in trouble, you know."

He grins at you and stuck his tongue out playfully. "Well I couldn't go back to sleep and since we don't have classes yet I thought I'd come visit you." He offers you a hand and you take it, letting him pull you up from the carpeted floor.

You glance at the clock hanging at the center wall of the room that divided your halves with Koala. It read 5:45 AM.

Ace grabs his shirt that hung on the foot of your bed and puts it on. "You were shivering when I got here," He smirks. "So I figured I'd help warm you up." His teasing tone made you blush. Hard. "Th-Thanks I guess..."

"No problem, princess~" He smirks again before heading for the door. "The campus is pretty big. Wanna go explore?"

You nod. "Sure." You go inside the walk in closet on your side of the room, pick out a tank top and a pair of shorts, and hurriedly change.

When you and Ace left the dorm, the sun was up but the air felt damp. The pine trees were high above your heads but it made you feel secure for some reason.

After minutes of silently walking, you come into a clearing where a beautiful crystal clear lake glistened under the morning light. "WOW..." You breathed at the sight. A flock of white birds flew towards the mountains. It felt like a wonderful dream.

"Not bad." Ace grinned, pointing to a giant red and pink striped tail. "Look (Name), a mermaid."

You frown at him, eyebrow raised. "Haha. Very funny, Ace." He laughed heartily at your sarcasm, nudging you on the shoulder. "A guy can dream, can't he? Don't worry though, you're way cuter than a mermaid." He added with a wink.

*Sabo's POV*

After Koala informed him that (Name) was still asleep and stubbornly refuses to wake up, he decided to accompany her to the main building.

She informed him that classes were being held in the main building and sometimes they were being held in the forest, depending on the subject and teacher. There were normal academic classes like Math, History, and Music. But there were also strange classes like Assassination, Hand to Hand Combat, and Power Control.

"The school teaches students how to control their powers and increase their physical strength, just in case things get a bit messy." Koala explains. "Everyone here has been targeted by the World Government so that they could recruit them for something. We don't know what exactly and the teachers won't tell us."

Sabo nodded, somewhat understanding. He and his brothers met when the government agents targeted them a few years ago. They had been on the run together ever since.

"Anyways, about (Name)," Koala pipes up, bringing him back from his thoughts. "You like her, huh~?" She grins mischievously at the blonde.

Huh? Like her? Do I? 

Sabo thinks for a bit then shrugs. "I'm not sure. She does seem interesting." From the moment they met, Sabo felt a strange feeling but he couldn't exactly tell if it really was love at first sight like Ace had said. He just finds you different from the other girls he had met before.

"Why are you so interested about me liking her or not anyway?" He looks at the brunette as she bounces cheerfully.

"There's just not enough romance in this school!" She whines with a frustrated pout. "I mean, don't get me wrong, fights are okay but it's been a while since I've played cupid."

He gives her a confused frown. "Played...cupid?"

Koala points to a pale blonde girl down the hallway who was laughing at something a dark skinned boy was telling her. "See them? That's Kaya and Usopp. If it weren't for me then they wouldn't be dating right now." She pounds her chest proudly at her accomplishment.

Sabo stares at the two. Well they do seem really happy. He gives a soft smile and chuckles at Koala. She frowns. "What?"

"Koala, I get the feeling we'll be great friends."

Koala pauses a bit before grinning broadly. "Sabo, you and I are going to be great best friends!"
