"The hardest part of being a demigod is when you're not being a demigod." -Literally Every Demigod Over Eighteen (And Chiron On A Regular Basis).
Nico had recently figured out the colossal amount of truth that was in this phrase. Laying around, doing nothing, and getting bored takes it's toll on your mentality.
He had tired many things to nuke his boredom, like swimming (too wet), running (nope), and lacrosse (AAAHHH). He even resorted to talking to people who weren't Will Solace, his boyfriend of two years, but everyone was either too preppy (Leo and Piper), too busy (Percy, Grover, and Annabeth) or just... no (everyone else at Camp).
So, yeah, nothing has worked. Nico was currently laying face-down on the floor of the Hades Cabin, bored as shit, and waiting impatiently for Will's shift at the infirmary to end.
The son of Hades, who normally hated anything and everything, was thrilled when the door got kicked open by a certain blond son of Apollo. Will Solace stood in the doorway, a huge ass grin on his face, and a plan in his mind.
"Thank the gods," Nico groaned, rolling over onto his back. His arms were raised above his head dramatically. (He was gay, what did you expect? "I was fucking bored."
"Yeah, yeah," Will waved that last part off. "Listen, Neeks, I have an extremely, very intense and important mission to go on! You wanna join?"
Nico jumped up, his heart racing a million miles an hour. It was a wonder his heart hadn't exploded yet. A mission! And with Will Solace, the most least-boring person alive.
"Let's go, let's go, let's go!" Nico jumped around like an excited child on their birthday. He stooped down for a minute to grab his sword, then went back to bouncing around like a... um... like a thing that bounces a lot.
Will laughed, then quickly stopped as to not ruin his serious facade. Nico was clueless of Will's plan, he was too blinded by the thought of finally going on a mission.
"Okay, let's go!" Will pointed his dagger towards Half-Blood Hill, where a pegasus is waiting for the both of them.

"Will?" Nico was grabbing on tight to his boyfriend's waist as the magical horse flew them over the city below. "What kind of mission do we have in the city?" No monsters ever attacked the city, there were always too many demigods roaming around in the city, especially after the Battle of Manhattan.
"You'll see when we get there," Will replied. "It's a very important mission that could make or break the future of Camp Half-Blood."
That only got Nico more rallied up. He sighed with anticipation as he buried his head into Will's back to block the wind from his face. It took Will's everything to not turn around and kiss him.
"We're gonna be heroes when we get back," Nico muttered in some sort of heroic fantasy he was having. "If we don't die."
Maybe that was a darker thought than what's appropriate, but Nico didn't give a shit. This mission seemed like an important thing, from what Will was saying.
"Here we are," Will said to the smaller boy. Nico didn't even notice the descending pegasus before Will's voice made him look up.
It looked like they were heading towards a... general store? Was there a monster attacking a Walgreens maybe?
Will hopped off the horse, offering Nico a hand down. Nico accepted, jumping off as well.
The blond boy inhaled a deep breath of lovely (horrible) city air. "This is the place," he told Nico, who was confused. Weren't they supposed to be on some big quest to save Camp? Why were they at a general store?
"What... what're we doing here?" Nico asked, sword raised and eyes wide.
"Getting snacks? For the infirmary workers?"
"But you said the Camp's future was at risk!"
"Have you seen hungry Apollo kids?!" Will had a point. If the Apollo campers didn't get three and a half meals a day, they went absolute batshit.
"You got me so hyped for this...," Nico grumbled, crossing his arms. "I was so ready to tackle a monster!"
They walked down the aisles of the store, searching for granola and trail mix. Will turned to Nico and pecked the tip of his nose.
"Getting out was fun though, right?" Will asked as he grabbed two packs of M&M trail mix.
"Yeah," Nico muttered admittedly."
"I'll make it up to you tonight," Will promised. "Swear on the river Styx,"
"OKAY!" Nico agreed in a flash.
