And Look How Far That Got Us
The media... don't ask. I... I don't know... it was a late night...
Will's P.O.V. (is his last name pronounces S-OH-lce or S-ah-lace? My friend and I got into an argument over it)
The world seemed so fuzzy. Nothing was really clear. All I could see was a bright, white... something.
I sat up, feeling something catch my back. The hand felt so familiar. Small, boney, a perfect fit for my own hand.
"N..." I took a deep breath before saying his name. "Nico?"
"Sunshine." Was all I heard. Just a soft, small, quiet "sunshine". "You... here... why...?"
So many emotions seemed to be running through Nico's voice.
First joy.
Then excitement.
And that faded into surprise.
Which went to confusion.
Then the last one, the worst one.
Pain.
I know why he's feeling pain. It's because I'm here with him. Because I couldn't take it anymore. And I had to be with him.
"Why... why would something like this happen to you?" Nico asked, pulling me up and into his fragile arms.
"It was... my fault," I said. It wasn't the driver's fault. "I wanted to be with you."
"So you... made someone commit manslaughter?" I felt hot tears soaking into my shirt and Nico burried his head there.
"I would do anything for you, Neeks!"
"I didn't ask you to die for me!" He said. I didn't know if it was sadness, anger, or simply pain in his voice.
"After you went, taking your own life, I don't know how I stayed alive for even a month." The painful memories of the cuts and slashes on Nico made me want to end it all. Again. Made me want to die twice.
"I just wanted you to be happy," Nico sniffled into my chest. "I wanted you to live your life without me slowing you down."
I sighed and put my hand on his back and head. "And look how far that got us."
"Nowhere."
