ALRIGHT
HERE WE GOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Chimera paced around restlessly. It had been a long time since she had seen her husband, Orthus. And their kids, Sphinx and Nemean the Lion. She was worried. So she decided to Iris Message her son. She pulled out a drachma (is that how you spell it?) and tossed it into the misty ocean spray next to her.
"Oh, Iris, goddess of the rainbow. Show me Nemean the Lion, the Smithsonian Museum." She said. The mist shimmered and rippled. Then a picture formed. She saw her son fighting some other demigods. They shot arrows at him and hacked at him with swords. But thankfully, he was wearing his Nemean Lion skin cloak, the monster he had been named after, so everything just bounced off as he danced among them, throwing his own knives and swinging his own sword.
He nearly decapitated one of the kids and his knives narrowly missed the others. Chimera smiled savagely. Her son was doing well. As she was about to slash through the connection, she saw one of the kids fighting her son, Percy Jackson she thought it was, yell for his friends to cover him. He disappeared inside of a gift shop and came out a few moments later with little packets.
"Get him to keep his mouth open!" The Jackson boy cried, opening one of the packets and dumping it's contents into him palm. His friends did as he asked, even though they have him weird looks. As soon as Nemean the Lion had his mouth open to give a savage roar in his fight against them, the son of Poseidon pulled back his arm and hurled the stuff from the packet toward Chimera's son. It flew I to his open mouth and he immediately began to gag and choke.
His mouth was wide open as he gagged and tried to dislodge or spit out whatever it was the Jackson boy had thrown at him. "Shoot inside his mouth!" That boy called to his friends. His archer friends obliged and soon, arrows were sprouting from Chimera's son's mad. He slowly fell forward and lay still on the floor.
As the image began to dissolve, she let out a savage roar of pure sorrow and anger. Jackson walked over and grabbed the Nemean Lion skin cloak from her son's body and then the image was gone.
Chimera howled in despair and quickly pulled out another drachma and tossed it into the mist. "O-oh, Iris, g-goddess of the r-rainbow. S-show me Orthus, T-triple G R-ranch." She stuttered, tears filling her eyes even as she tried to keep them away.
The mist shimmered and rippled until it settled on an image of her husband reclined in a rocking chair on the porch of the ranch house, his mouth open slightly as he quietly snored and a hat pulled down over his eyes. "Orthus!" She sobbed, finally giving in and letting the tears fall. He sat straight up and pulled the hat from his head, his obsidian eyes snapping open to stare at her through the Iris Message the shimmered before him.
"Chimera?!" He cried, alarmed. "Chimera, what's wrong? What has happened?" He reached an arm out, as if to grab her through the Iris Message through which they were talking.
"They, they killed him! They killed him!" She sobbed.
"Killed who! Who killed him? Who's 'him'?" Orthus said worriedly, taking in his wife's state.
"Nemean! They killed Nemean!" She sobbed harder as Orthus stared at her in shock.
He froze, his eyes widening and his mouth falling open to reveal canine like incisors. Then his gaze hardened and he clamped his mouth shut with a snap. "Who was it?" He growled, now filled with anger that some one would dare to kill his son. "Who killed our son?" Chimera looked up from her hands and her own gaze hardened and filled with rage upon seeing her husband's.
"Perseus Jackson." She said. "Him and his friends. Just now at the Smithsonian." Orthus let out a deep growl.
"The Jackson came through here just last year and killed Geryon! Eurytion was even happy about it! He wasn't even upset! I guess it's not that bad without Geryon here, but you can't just go around killing people! Then again, Geryon did deserve it. And Percy did clean out the stables. I kinda liked him. But now I want to rip him apart!"
Chimera nodded in agreement. Then she gasped. "Oh no! I need to call Sphinx and see if she's alright! I need to tell her about Nemean as well." She exclaimed. Orthus bowed his head in approval and Chimera swiped her hand through the message, cutting the connection. Pulling out yet another drachma, she tossed it once again into the mist.
"Oh, Iris, goddess of the rainbow. Show me Sphinx, somewhere within the Labyrinth." And once more, the mist shimmered and rippled and then solidified into a picture of Chimera's daughter sitting alone in a dark room playing with a skeleton and asking herself random questions and riddles. Her cat-like Amber eyes immediately caught sight if the Iris Message when it appeared in the room.
She turned and grinned widely showing off feline teeth. "Hello, mom!" She said, walking over to the message with steps as silent and purposeful as a cat's. Chimera smiled at the sight of her lovely daughter in spite of the news she bore.
"Hello, Sphinx." She greeted the girl, glad that she was still alive and in one piece. (Well, maybe not so much her sanity as her body.) "How are you?" Chimera asked, tilting her head slightly in and inquiring motion.
"Mother, I am fine. Though, you look as though you have been recently crying. So, I ask you this question: are you alright?" Sphinx pointed out and then crossed her arms and raised in eyebrow, making it clear she expected a truthful answer.
Chimera sighed and hung her head, tears being to sting her eyes once more. She looked up and decided to just say it. "Sphinx, Nemean is dead." Sphinx's arms dropped to her sides as her mouth fell open and her expression changed to one of shock and then quickly to anger.
"WHO DID IT?" She roared, "WHO KILLED MY BROTHER!" Sphinx turned and pounded her fist into a wall, crushing the stone and making an impression within it.
"Perseus Jackson. Him and his friends killed Nemean the Lion." Chimera told her daughter.
Sphinx grinned savagely. "I have a feeling young Perseus and some of his friends will be traveling through my room soon. When they do, I will make sure they pay." She promised evilly.
Chimera's responding grin was enough to send shivers up anyone's neck. "Good. Be careful." She warned.
Sphinx nodded and grinned horrifyingly one more time.
"Of course mother," she said. "But this Perseus had better watch out for himself should he enter my Labyrinth. For I am sure that being ripped limb-from-limb isn't necessarily good for your health."
They both grinned savagely and then Chimera cut the connection.
