There were monsters everywhere, she could barely see anyone she knew through the thick mass.

She heard a cry of pain and looked to her left to see him clamp a hand over his sword arm, his sword falling to the ground and blood spreading from underneath his fingers and down his arm, soaking his shirt and dripping onto the ground beneath him.

She called his name and ran forward, her own sword raised and ready to cut through the monster who had hurt him. But then it was him in front of her, him underneath her sword and not the monster. She screamed as her sword was thrust into his chest.

He gasped and looked at her with astonishment and pain in his eyes. She panicked and pulled the sword out. He gagged and jercked forward with the movement.

He fell to his knees, blood dribbling down his chin. She fell with him. And then he fell forward, blood slowly seeping into the dirt and beginning to pool around him. His eyes stared blankly at nothing. Their depths filled with nothing but the cold hands of Death.

She screamed. The only sound she could hear was her own glass-shattering screams. All she could see was his empty face, his dull eyes. All she could see was the red of his blood on his face from where it gurggled out of his mouth, the red of his blood as it spread around them and formed a puddle of heartbreak.

All she could feel was pain. Pain that he was gone. Pain that she had been the one to kill him.

As her screams rang out across the battlefield, everyone's hearts dropped as they heard. She screamed one word.

One word.

"PERCY!"
