Fallen

Percy laughed and pulled me into the cave, his eyes sparkling. He had found this spot a little while ago, and had shown it to me. It was a little unstable, but stable enough that it won't collapse on us unless something put pressure on the wrong point.

"Come on! I want to tell you something!" I laughed and gripped his hand tighter, letting him pull me farther back in the cave. He plopped down on the blankets we had stored in here as seats and smiled up at me, grasping my hands in both of his. "Stay here." He said. Then stood up and ran to the very back of the cave, rummaging around in the cubby holes that we used to put food and things in. I watched him shove something in his pocket then scurry back to me. I put my hand over my mouth to cover up a giggle at the silly grin on his face.

He reached me and grabbed my hands, encircling them in his own. Then, he knelt down on one knee. My eyes teared up and I pulled a hand away, covering my mouth as he reached back to his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box with a picture of an apple on the top. I let out a laugh that sounded more like a sob. I could not longer hold back the tears and they flowed from my eyes as Percy started to talk.

"Annabeth, ever since I woke up in the infirmary all those years ago, I knew that you were going to be a huge part of my life. You were my best friend for years. We fought a war together, held the sky for each other." He took his other hand back and opened the lid of the box. My other hand flew back to cover my heart. The ring was a thin silver circle, imbeded in the metal were three diamonds. Two sea-green almost the same shade as Percy's eyes, and in the middle was a grey one that glittered and sparkled. "We finally got together after we won the war against Kronos. Then I went missing for eight months thanks to a certain bitch." The sky rummbled above us outside of our little sanctuary. We looked up.

"FUCK YOU TO, HERA!" We both yelled. We looked at each other and I let out a watery laugh and Percy smiled warmly.

"Anyway, my memory was completely wiped, but I still remembered your name. I remembered your smile, how it felt when you kissed me. I remembered you. Then, shit happens, and we fell.  You got me through that place. Without you, I would have drowned in that river. Without you, there was no way that I would have made it out of there. But we did. And then we fought another war, in which I woke up Mother Earth because I got a nose bleed, and we won.

"We've been through so much together, and I want you to be by my side for the rest of my life. After everything that has happened to us, I feel like I can get through anyrhing the Fates throw at us as long as you are with me.

"So, what do you say, Wise Girl? Will you marry me?" I nod my head vigorously and he smiles broadly, lighting up the cave.

"Yes. Yes yes yes! Of course I'll marry you, Seaweed Brain!" I sob and throw my arms around him after he slides the ring onto my finger.

He stands up and lifts me up in his arms. Twirling me through the air, I laugh gleefully as he grins from ear to ear. He puts me down and grabs my face, pressing his lips to mine. He pulled back and pressed his forehead against mine.

"I love you, Wise Girl." He whispered. I smiled.

"I love you too, Seaweed Brain."

We stayed like that for a while, until we heard a thud like something hitting the cave, and a crack as the earth and stone above us began to break and crumble.
