April Fools/Happy Easter
Annabeth and Percy sat in his cabin, trying to come up with the perfect April Fools prank. The Hermes Cabin always pranked everyone separately, and did a really good job at it, but Percy and Annabeth were determined to have the best prank this year and they were going to fool everyone at once.
They just didn't know what to do.
Percy groaned, "Annabeth, do you have any ideas? You're the one that always comes up with the plans, and I've got nothing." Annabeth shook her head and Percy sighed. "Though, honestly, how are we going to get everyone to know what's going on? Everyone usually hides in their cabins to try and avoid the Hermes kids." Annabeth shrugged.
"I've got no idea, Percy. For once, I'm running empty." Annabeth flopped onto Percy's bed and sighed. Percy layed down next to her and sighed too. Then he gasped and bolted to his feet. Annabeth sat up, leaning on her forearms. "Percy?"
"I've got it!" He exclaimed. "We can pretend to get in a fight, and, while no one will believe that we broke up, we can pretend to be really mad at each other, ignore each other all day, and then one of us gets hurt, preferably me, and then you refuse to come see me or help me, and everyone is confused and eventually, at the end of the day, you come by, kiss me, and we're just like, 'April Fools, idiots! Hahaha!'" Annabeth stared at her boyfriend as he waved his hands around in the air while he talked and walked around the room. He currently has his back to her. He turned to face her, a huge grin on his face. "So, what'da'ya think?" Annabeth laughed and thought for a moment.
"It's a good plan," she decided. Percy pumped his fist in the air. Annabeth giggled. "There are just a few holes in it." Percy's face drooped. Annabeth laughed. "Don't worry, we can fix them. First one: what are we fighting about? Remember, it has to be believable. I mean, we've been through hell and back for each other, people know how close we are. For them to believe that we're that mad at each other, it can't be something petty." Percy thought for a moment.
"Well, people could just hear me yell at you something like 'get out' or whatever, and then you storm out and slam the door." Percy tilted his head to the side and waited for Annabeth's thoughts on that idea. Annabeth slowly nodded.
"That could work. Next, how do you get hurt?" She raised and eyebrow and waited for his answer as he thought. He shook his head.
"I have no idea." He admitted. Anmabeth and he both went back to thinking. A few minutes later, he snapped his fingers and grinned. "Maybe we could convince Hazel to help us!" Before Annabeth could say anything, Percy shook his head. "Nah, she wouldn't do it, she's too nice. But, the Hunters are here, we could ask Thalia to help. She can manipulate the mist." Annabeth nodded.
"That could work, yeah." She smiled. Percy thought for a moment more before asking his girlfriend if there were any other holes in his plan that they needed to fix. "Nope." She said. Percy grinned crookedly.
"Great! I'll send an Iris Message to Thalia and ask her if she'll do it." Percy snatched a drachma from his nightstand drawer and walked toward the fountain in the back of his cabin. Annabeth watched him as he called and talked to Thalia. She saw the hunter laugh and then nod vigourusly, obviously agreeing. Annabeth stifled a giggle and waited for Percy to come back.
Percy came back grinning. "I know that you already know that she agreed. So, are you ready?" He smirked and Annabeth laughed. Then he froze. "Wait, what do I say? I don't know how to be mad you..." Annabeth laughed and internally squealed. Oh my gods he is so cute! She thought for a moment.
"Alright, you'll say, 'Happy Easter, bitch!' Since, you know, it is Easter too. And then I'll say, 'You bet, dumbass!' Then I'll storm out and slam the door." She said, smiling again at the brilliance of the plan they had formed. "And if anyone asks questions just tell them shut up and leave you alone or just ignore them. I'll look really mad all the time, and you'll look either really mad, or really sad, whichever you choose. And that should do it." Percy rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Are you sure it's okay for me to call you a-a bitch though? I feel guilty just thinking about it, even knowing that it's for a prank and that I know and you know that I don't mean it..." He trailed off, looking at the floor.
Oh, Percy, Annabeth thought, you are too sweet. "Of course it's fine, Percy. I won't get mad at you for it. After all, I'm the one that told you to say it." Annabeth placed a hand on his arm comfortingly and he looked up her, dropping his hand from where it was still rubbing the back of his neck.
"Okay," he smirked again took its place spread between his cheeks. "You ready?" She nodded. He shook himself and looked down for a second. When he looked back up, his face was a perfect picture of fury. Annabeth almost gasped and stumbled back, but she kept her face still and then twisted it into a mask of anger as well.
Percy took a deep breath and then pointed at his cabin door and began to shout. "Get out! Get out of my cabin right now! GET OUT AND I HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A HAPPY EASTER, BITCH!" Annabeth froze in shock for a second before remembering her role and yelling right back.
"You don't have to ask me twice!" She cried. "AND YOU BET I WILL, DUMBASS!" She turned on her heel and stomped over to the cabin door, throwing it open and flying outside, slamming the door behind her with enough force to rattle the hinges.
As she stalked angrily toward the Athena cabin, Annabeth saw multiple heads peaking out of every cabin's door and the Hermes kids that had been running around setting traps and pranks up around camp froze in their tracks. The heads dissapeared when she turned her head to look a them, glaring, and the Hermes kids all quickly scrambled out of her way if she walked past them.
Good, their plan was working, the whole camp had heard her and Percy's yelling. She threw open the Athena cabin door and her half-siblings stared silently as she made her way to her bunk where she promptly collapsed onto the bed, buried her head her pillow, and screamed.
"Annabeth? What ha-" Her older brother Malcom started but Annabeth sat up and cut him off, her face a mask of rage.
"Shut up." She snapped. He looked taken aback for a moment before stepping away and leaving her alone.
Meanwhile, Percy sat on his bed and thought for a moment about what he should do now. Then he stood up, fixed his mouth into a grimace and filled his eyes with fake anger before walking out his cabin door, slamming it shut behind him, and heading toward the sword arena. The Hermes kids were still frozen from when Annabeth had come storning out of the Poseidon cabin and many scurried away from the seemingly pissed off boy when he walked near them. (Percy might not know it, but he was terrifying when he got angry.)
The rest of the Seven, plus Reyna, Thalia, Will, and Nico, were all sticking their heads out their respective cabin doors and Reyna from the Big House, to watch him. (A/N Just to make sure you all understand, Thalia is in the Artemis cabin, Jason is in the Zeus cabin, Hazel is in the Hades cabin with Nico, and Frank is in the Ares cabin. I'm pretty sure y'all know where everyone else is.)
They all pulled their heads back inside once the son of Poseidon dissapeared from view. "What do you think happened?" Nico asked Hazel. She shrugged, as confused as he was.
"I don't know. I've never seen them fight like this! I didn't think that they could ever possibly get this mad at each other." Nico hummed in agreement and started pacing.
"I think I'll go check on Percy and see what happened, see if he's okay." Nico turned his pacing toward the door and left. Hazel stared after him before deciding to go get Piper to work together to do what they could about Annabeth. Piper agreed to come with her so the two of them headed toward the Athena cabin.
At this point, the Hermes kids had put away all their prank stuff and everyone was coming outside, wondering what had happened.
Nico walked into the sword arena and saw Percy furiously hacking at the training dummies with Riptide. He approached the son of Poseidon carefully, making sure to let the other know he was coming. Nico didn't want Percy to point that sword at him if he got startled. "Percy?" Nico said once he had reached him, stretching out a hand and carefully placing it on the older teen's shoulder. "What happened?" Percy stopped murdering the training dummies long enough to shrug Nico's hand from his shoulder and whirl around.
"Shut up, Nico. Leave me alone." He snarled, glaring at Nico hard enough to make the son of Hades back away a step, and then he went back to slicing at the training dummies and ignoring Nico, who stood in shock.
Percy never talked like that. Percy never acted like that. Something was seriously wrong. "I said go away." Percy didn't stop swinging his sword. Nico pulled his own from his waist and walked forward to start hacking at another set of dummies next to Percy.
"Well, I want to train." Nico said, watching his friend out of the corner of his eye. Percy huffed but didn't acknowledge his presence other than that. That is, until Nico swung his sword toward Percy instead of the dummies.
Percy caught Nico's blade on his own and deflected the attack, swinging his around to attack back. And so they started to spar. "Tell me what happened." Nico said, blocking one of Percy's strikes. Percy only scowled and attacked him again, landing the flat of his blade on Nico's side. "Tell me what happened." Nico said again, earning a slap from Percy's sword against his arm.
Nico kept pushing him, kept telling Percy to tell him what happened. And every time he did, Percy would attack him harder, fight back stronger. Until Nico yelled it. Percy howled in rage and he attacked in a blur. Before Nico knew what was happening, he was disarmed and on the ground, Percy's knees holding his hips in place and Riptide against his neck. Percy was panting and Nico stared up at him as he waited for something to happen. (Percico if you squint? Like, this whole section? Idk. I was reading a bunch of Percico when I wrote this so small Percico thing...? I honestly don't know XD)
Percy slowly took Riptide from Nico's throat and let it clatter to the ground, dropping his arms to grab Nico's wrists. Nico's eyes widened but he remained silent. Percy hung his head, and then he started to sob.
Nico didn't know what to do, not that he could do anything anyway. But then Percy started talking, his voice wavering as he tried to talk through his tears. "I fucked up, Nico. I screwed up so bad. I was stupid, and now Annabeth's mad at me, and what if I ruined everything? What if she leaves me because I was so stupid? I wouldn't blame her honestly, who'd want to be with me anyway? All I ever do is screw up. Annabeth is so mad at me, and I got mad and I yelled at her I just-" Percy stopped, taking a deep breath before trying to continue. "What if I screwed everything up, Nico?" Nico stared up at Percy for a moment longer before gently pulling his wrists out of Percy's hold and leaning up to wrap his arms around the older boy's shaking shoulders.
Percy buried his head in Nico's shoulder and continued to cry.
Piper and Hazel weren't having nearly as much success with getting anything out of Annabeth as Nico was with Percy. They each sat on the edge of the girl's bed, Hazel stroking her hair and Piper rubbing circles in her back. Annabeth herself was still lying face down with her face in her pillow.
They hadn't gotten her to say one thing so Piper resorted to charmspeak. "Annabeth, please tell us what happened." Annabeth brought her face up from the pillow and glared at the daughter if Aphroditie.
"Shut up. You know your charmspeak doesn't work on me that easily." She said harshly, quickly stuffing her face back into the pillow. "Now leave me alone." Her voice coming back muffled.
"Come on, Annabeth," Hazel tried. "Please tell us what happened.' Annabeth just shook her head. Piper and Hazel looked at each other and sighed. They would give her some time before they asked again.
Just then, an alarm sounded through Camp and the girls jumped. Hazel and Piper were on their feet but Annabeth just threw her head back into the pillow. "Someone else can deal with it.' She muttered. Hazel and Piper looked down at her for a moment in confusion and shock, before both of them ran from the cabin and toward the border.
At the arena, Percy and picked his head up off of Nico's shoulder and was scrambling to his feet, snatching Riptide from the ground and taking off toward the border. Nico jumped to his feet and ran after him.
Thalia was already at the border, fighting off a Mantixore. Percy was bride her fighting in an instant and Nico wasn't far behind. They were all fighting it, working like a well oiled machine. There were other, smaller monsters coming up behind the Manticore, but the children of the Big Three stayed focused on it.
Other demigods showed up and started fighting the other monsters. The fight was going well. Nico, Percy, and Thalia had almost beaten the Manticore. Everything was going well. That is, until Nico forgot to watch for the Manticore's tail. "Nico!" Percy cried, lunging forward and shoving the son of Hades out of the way. The Manticore's tail smaller into him, the three spikes sitting ready at the end embedding in Percy's torso and breaking off, going flying with him.
Thalia screamed when Percy slammed into her tree with a sickening crunch and fell to the ground, limp. She forgot all about the Manticore and ran toward her cousin. Nico howled in anger and disguised fear and launched himself at the monster, swinging his sword and taking out the Manticore quickly.
Every other monater was taken care of and the demigods were staring at Thalia's tree in horror. Nico ran over. He kneeled beside Thalia, noticing her shaking hands and quivering lip. She was trying not to cry. Nico looked down at Percy and could understand why.
Percy had three of the Manticore's spikes in his back; one in his lower back, one between his shoulder blades, and the other in the middle of his back. Nico had a flashback to when he first met Percy. Percy had fought a Manticore then too, gotten a cut on his shoulder from one of the monster's spikes. Nico remembered how the Manticore had said that his poison wasn't deadly, but caused extreme pain. Percy had been wincing and was definitely hiding most of the pain the felt with just that small scrape. Nico would be glad that Percy was unconscious if not for the fact that it looked like quote a few bones had been broken when he had been throw into the tree.
Having slammed into the tree front first, there must be at least a few ribs broken, and with the way he had belly-flopped when he landed, may he few more from that. The angle in which he landed and the force of hitting the ground and the tree so hard hand obviously broken one of his legs and one of his arms, the way his other hand fell and crushed his fingers beneath him and probably broken those as well.
"WILL! WILL!" Nico screamed. Will came running.
"Thalia," Will didn't miss a beat before he started barking orders. "Grab Percy and get him to the infirmary. Nico, get Annabeth. I know that they're fighting, but she'll want to be here for him." Thalia was still shaking but she did as Will asked. Nico nodded and ran toward the Athena cabin.
Bursting through the door, Nico ran into the cabin and stopped next to Annabeth's bunk. "Annabe-"
"Nico, go away." Annabeth didn't even lift her head from the pillow.
"But-"
"I don't care. Now go away." Annabeth growled.
"But, Annabeth, Percy's hurt. Seriously hurt." Nico pleaded with her, eyes wide with shock.
"Don't worry about him," she said, sitting up and giving Nico a deadpan look after rolling her eyes. "He's been through worse and of course he never bothered to tell me or anyone and of course he will be fine because he's Percy freaking Jackson! What the Hades could happen?" Annabeth raged. Nico only stared, startled into silence.
"What happened? What did you two fight about that brought around this? He feels so dam guilty, you know. He thinks that maybe he ruined everything. He thinks that maybe you won't want to be with him anymore and he also thinks that if you didn't he wouldn't blame you because, and I quote, 'All [he] ever [does] is screw up'." (*Sticks out tongue* I will properly quote myself so ha. I do not care that it is being said, I will still use the proper structure.) Nico turned on his heel and stalked out of the cabin.
Annabeth just turned back to the pillow and continued to pretend to be totally upset with Percy. Though, she was a little worried. What if Percy was actually hurt? What if this wasn't part of the prank?
She brushed those thoughts aside by telling herself that if it was real, Thalia would have come and gotten her. Percy was fine.
Percy was not fine. Thalia was freaking out. This was not a part of their plan! She had not used the mist for this! This was actually happening.
Holy shit. Percy was actually hurt and he could actually die. "Will! Give me some good news, please!" She begged, pacing at the end of Percy's bed anxiously, arms crossed, hand at her mouth, and her combat boots making loud thunks on the floor with each agitated step.
"Thalia," Will said from where he was at the head of the bed, checking Percy over. "I don't know much of anything yet. But he definitely has multiple broken bones and fractured ribs. He probably has a concussion and my gods I think one if his ribs punctured a lung! That's probably why he's breathing so weird! Oh my gods! Apollo's sun chariot!" Will began to frantically run around, muttering under his breath and gathering supplies.
Thalia stood, frozen. No. This is not how this was supposed to go. Nico ran into the room then, looking extremely pissed off.
"I told her he was hurt! I told her that she needed to come. And yet she refused! What could they possibly have fought about that made her so mad that she wouldn't come see him when he's hurt!?"
That's when Thalia finally broke down, falling to her knees and letting a sob escape her throat. "Oh gods, oh gods!" She wailed, burying her face in her hands.
"Thalia?" Nico said, his anger with Annabeth momentarily forgotten.
"Th-the fight it-it wasn't actually a fight!" She said, looking up. "It was a prank! I was supposed to use the Mist to create a monster and make it look like Percy was hurt and she would pretend not to care and then at the end of the day I'd release the Mist and Percy would be perfectly fine and Annabeth would go to see him and they'd kiss and it'd be a prank that gave the Hermes kids a run for their money." Thalia sobbed. Then she gasped. "Annabeth still thinks this is part of the prank! Oh gods, I need to go tell her!" Thalia scrambled to her feet and ran out of the infirmary, streaking toward the Athena Cabin and Annabeth within it.
