#49 Balance
LONG ONE AHEAD
Synopsis: you are a prisoner on board and kylo keeps feeling your presence and losing your connection throughout the day. Eventually he finds you in bad condition but would he want a pure soul like yours?
He felt an extremely weak force signature on the base. It would be difficult to reach but not impossible because Kylo Ren was one of the best force trackers ever known. He smirked at the sheets on his bed as he felt this exciting rush in his chest he felt that he was beginning a chase—a wild goose hunt for his prey. Today would be interesting he would be like a hound following their nose to their treat. He finally sat up from his bed massaging his palm as the signature disappeared suddenly. He looked to the wall ahead in some sort of trance. His features grew confused had he lost their trace...
either there hiding from me or they died.
But neither of these solutions seemed practical maybe the person died because he doubted that this faint signature could hide from him.
No one could hide from Kylo Ren.
He stood from his bed walking towards his bathroom. He stared in the mirror at himself as he stood on the charcoal tile. He just stared into his own brown eyes searching for the answer, any answer if he could find one. His eyes were dead though they had no sparks of any kind. He looked at his scar touching it along his chest his other hand gripping the sink. He felt lonely, broken and unimportant.
Kylo never showed this to anyone though because no one cared. No one understood that being the most feared man in the galaxy was a lonely-lonely thing to be.
He turned from the mirror his eyes darting to the floor when he felt the slightest presence. It was 'them' again. It was a feeling—no it was a reassurance it was a bit of hope. Now, Kylo wouldn't admit to ever using the word hope but you were it when it came to that word and you weren't that far away either.
3 floors away technically and strapped to a metal chair. Your ankles and wrists were falling numb as your head was throbbing. The cuts near your collar bones were constant reminders of pain when your chin tilted down slightly as a stinging started. It was uncomfortable and exhausting.
A suspected resistance spy that's who you were, suspected because you weren't actually a spy just neutral in all of this but in the bigger scheme leaned toward the resistance if you had to choose because there wasn't an ounce of darkness in you.
It's strange to think that the galaxy would pull together extreme polar opposites.
The prince of darkness and the kindest of spirits were being connected. It was a peculiar thing but maybe the galaxy thought that it could bring balance by defrosting the icy heart of Kylo Ren with the pure soul of "___." She was kindness at its core and he was the devil's advocate.
Kylo's eyes darted to to his wardrobe as he quickly grabbed a long black tunic and lacing up his boots quickly nervous that the feeling my leave him again. He tightened the last knot focusing his mind on the faint soul cautiously. As he laced the last notch he only had one boot left as it slowly died out again.
"Aghhhh!" He screamed at his wall as he threw his other boot at it instead of putting it on his left foot. It was gone again you were fading away from him and his curiosity was literally killing him. You, you're little spirit dwindling in his head was driving him insane, up the wall and into limbo.
If only he could pinpoint the origin of it. His fists were tightly wound as the leather scrunched between his fingers. The material was protecting his nails from bloodying his palms as he felt loneliness and longing again for the comfort of another person like him. Kylo was tired of spending every night alone with no comfort or warmth of another individual a mate a—a girlfriend. He wanted one of those because he was truthfully falling to pieces and needed someone to help fix him.
He stood from the end of his bed floating the boot back to him as he slowly laced up this one not caring about how long it took. He huffed walking out of his door toward the main bridge.
He had nowhere to go, nowhere to turn, and no one to turn to. It was a deafening thought and an awful idea and it would be another dreary day of disappointment for Kylo...or so he thought.
As he trampled down the halls stormtroopers gathered near the walls giving him a clear path to his destination. He turned a corner sharply and halted immediately right in the center of it almost stumbling over himself. His hand flew up to the wall to steady himself. His boots abruptly stopped pounding on the ground as his eyes under his mask widened. Stepping in a circle he looked everywhere in every direction but there was no one in sight not a single person.
Minutes passed by as he stood still searching for you. More stormtroopers passed him on both sides of the hall and signature felt........
the same.
He was eager and intrigued, some would say desperate to find this person he kept connecting to. He closed his eyes as his mind whispered to him
Their near.
He couldn't let them out of his grasp not again.
His feet trudged forward absentmindedly unsure of which direction to go.
Then it was gone. The trail went cold again. Internally his organs shut down and his mind was imploding. Looking to his left he entered the closest door wielding his favourite weapon. The red beam sliced and burned through the wall sending sparks furiously into the opened doorway.
He lost control destroying the room, the panels the ceiling it was only a matter of time until the entire room fell to his reign of destruction.
"REN!"
Kylo whipped his head to the side just short of whiplash on his part.
"There having an issue with the new prisoner," General Hux narrated blandly barely stepping into the room as the heat radiated off of the door.
Kylo stood up straighter fixing his posture groaning at his words. He holstered the weapon and faced Hux and nodded. Kylo left immediately to his new job for the day which entailed getting someone to talk...forcefully.
He approached the interrogation rooms as the door to the prisoner opened for him and closed right behind his back. He stepped closer watching the person as he approached.
He sensed it again it was a little stronger not much but closer than it felt in the hallway. He stepped further into the room until standing in front of the individual. They were still sleeping as Kylo lifted his hand near their forehead and sensed nothing of the force. Kylo stepped back confusingly but the feeling was fading away from him again as his temper returned. He was so close he could practically feel them with his fingertips.
He stepped closer to the sleeping man penetrating his mind to wake him up. He wanted to get this done quickly Kylo wasn't in the mood for this stupid task today.
But then he thought about inflicting torture onto someone else and found that it was actually the highlight of his awful morning.
He inflicted pain for the next few hours onto this man and the guy was barely alive barely breathing but still there. Kylo stepped back catching his breath wiping his hand covered in blood. The man in the chair didn't even look like a man an eye was missing along with fingers encircling his feet. Cuts and brands in his chest. It was a nightmare a living nightmare.
Just to think that Kylo Ren the inflicter of chaos was destined to find the kind hearted person not far from him now. Could it be a mistake?
Kylo walked out of the door not even glancing back at the man he had mutilated unimportant to him now. Stormtroopers stared at him as the guards were summoned by Kylo to speak outside of the prisoners door. He gave them commands to keep him under watch till he dies. As kylo turned to leave he passed by more doors. He continued his heavy steps wiping his gloves from the red liquid and breathing heavily from his recent encounter with violence.
Until he passed the last door. His helmet snapped up,
I feel it again.
His foot barely out the hallway entrance door as the feeling remained, the little pull was close and closer than it had been all day. He rotated slowly facing the last door. He stood outside of it listening from outside of the metal door. There was no sound not a single noise and his curiosity was getting the better of him. The door slid open and he stepped in slowly.
Kylo felt a little nervous now he knew he was in the right spot. But there was a catch this was an older interrogation room meaning that the chair faced the opposing wall not the entrance. Therefore he couldn't see who was sitting on the other side of that chair. Good news is Kylo would be in control as always.
He stepped further into the room anxiously as he finally reached the back of the chair his hands growing sweaty and his knees buckling a little. His breathing picked up as the signature faded more but it radiated off of this room and he wouldn't be fooled again.
I've got you this time.
He finally stepped around the chair as his eyes dropped down to...
you.
His fists released there tension for the first time today he felt...calm. He stared at your delicate face. He knew something was wrong just by standing near you. Your eyes slowly opened sensing a presence in front of you much darker than your own. He took off the helmet quickly not wanting you to fear him in anyway. Kylo didn't want to hurt that was not his intention not at all.
The pull was drowned out again as it faded your eyes falling closed again.
He realised then putting the pieces of the puzzle together that you weren't hiding from him in any way you were growing weaker and weaker by the moment unintentionally. You hadn't been tricking him or taunting him you were attempting to survive.
Suddenly a sense of panic laced itself over his mind as he removed one of his bloodied gloves placing it next to you on a table.
He gently rose his warm fingertips to your jaw turning your tired eyes back to his.
He didn't even no where to start he wasn't sure if you even had the energy to speak.
"When did you eat last?" He was gentle and calming as his voice took on a more soothing tone than usual. But you just stared at him quietly as your eyes drifted from his lower to his chest unable to keep them up. His fingers slowly traced along your jaw showing a little comfort in his gentleness. His eyes scanning the cuts inflicted upon you making sure not to accidentally harm you. First impressions are important and Kylo knew that.
He tried again doing his best to be calm but a little more assertive now.
"When was the last time they brought you food?"
He was genuinely curious and needed to know.
You swallowed and looked down to floor, he watched worriedly, "they haven't," you whispered quietly with the strength you had left unable to meet his eyes again it was too hard to lift your head as the cuts stung. His forehead wrinkled as anger boiled up inside of him.
They haven't. They haven't? They HAVEN'T!
You closed your eyes again as he withdrew his hand from your chin and your pail complexion was enough to throw him off the edge and worry much more drastically now.
He quickly kneeled and undid some of your restraints manually since the cell was out of date. He even spent a minute or so trying to rub away the bruising on your ankles from where the restraints had been at their tightest notch. He let out a ragged breath as he stood from his kneeling position in frustration with the harsh treatment you had received. He was being a little hypocritical thinking back to his past few hours.
The mechanic door slid open quickly as your eyes opened to the familiar cynical chuckle coming near you. This was the head guard who liked to tighten your restraints and touch you in ways that others couldn't even imagine. Kylo stood still behind the chair out of view of the incoming guard. Kylo's eyes turned dark as the man taunted you walking closer. Kylo's eyes traced back to your cuts. You trembled quietly Kylo noticed his eyes distorting to a painful look of sorrow momentarily. The man walked around the chair knife in hand coming face to chest with Kylo Ren Commander of the First Order and Torture Extraordinaire.
The guard stepped back but instead Kylo had other plans he stepped closer to you undoing the last wrist restraint as you practically crumbled into his arms he bent down quickly to not let you hit the ground. He breathed out of his mouth freezing the guard in place to help you first.
Kylo walked towards the sliding door but turned just before lifting his helmet and glove to him with just his eyes and the man into the chair with the restraints at the same level of pain as you felt.
Kylo would be back later for a little 'chat' with the guard but first he would take you to his private quarters, feed you, and cleanse all of your scars.
In years to come you and Kylo would grow close he would keep you safe and you would keep him sane. His darkness would falter when around you and his darkness would keep you cautious of others. The balance was remarkable and no other person in the order dared come between you two. Not even the General who eyed you to no end driving Kylo to keep you close and not even Snoke because hurt one side of the balance and feel the full force of the other.
