#10 A Job Offer
A/N: Sorry this is a long one but I didn't want to make it into 2 parts :)
Being an eighteen year old was difficult in a place that was constantly at war. Adding to that you were one of the youngest people to be requested as an ambassador and not only were you favorited amongst many politicians in the galaxy but you were also the first person to ever be requested as an ambassador. Not to mention you outranked 75% of the people you were working with because you were sent to as many meetings as possible.
Today was yet another one of these meetings you were sent to a top security branch of the galaxy whose location was only known to those who went there. You were warned that negotiations sometimes ended in dangerous quarrels due to the secrecy and extremity in importance of these matters. You were transported by a Secure fighter jet with two fighters on either side just as a precaution. The idea of security was rather new to you because usually you would be flown out to a meeting in a single small jet or the meeting was brought to you, so this was a new experience.
The pilot seemed a bit anxious when flying in to the system you were destined to be at but it didn't worry you, nothing really did. Once the fighter landed the doors slid open and you made your way down the deck met by a line of guards all armed and dressed in black. They addressed you properly as a tall man walked quickly over to you with a clipboard and a binder full of papers.
The man gave you a badge with your first and last name on it and a little barcode towards the bottom which granted you access to any room in the building. He directed you by pointing to the nearest door and then walked over to the next jet that was landing. You walked down the landing pad and opened a door leading to the inside as a heavy feeling hit you like a freight train. You paused and then rebalanced your self and continued forward with four guards following you.
Walking down the grey hallways you shook hands with far too many people to keep track of. You were one of those people who everyone knew because of how clever you were. You didn't plan on dealing with politics but you were really good with handling problems in simplest of ways. Slowing your pace to catch up with yet another representative from another planet you had not been to was practically the highlight of your day.
You had been sent to many meetings to deal with trading issues, and payment information along with this eternal fight between Siths and Jedi's. You were fortunate enough to not have to pick a side, or at least pretended not to. You had been approached multiple times by General Organa to assist in plans but had hoped to keep your distance from the resistance and the Order altogether. Your father had been a major deal in the Order and your mother was a Jedi. It was a tricky situation you did not want to be any part of. The thing was you weren't sure which side you would pick if you had too. You had contemplated this type of situation, being faced with having to make a choice and ultimatly came to the conclusion of just leaving and becoming someone else in some other galaxy.
Ending the conversation with the man you had been approached by you instantly felt that heavy feeling again and you knew you weren't walking into and average situation. Placing your card onto the scanner you were admitted into the room and your guards stood outside keeping track of who enters and exits the room. You realized afterwards that you were the only person with guards in the entire facility you had walked through, and were confused as to why you would have protection, but erased that thought from your mind as you you took steps forward.
You walked into the room and were greeted by another ambassador from a distant region of main lands who you believed you had met before,
"Hello Ms. L/N I don't know if you remember but we met at a meeting before this one" he conversed excitedly
"it's a pleasure to see you again" you replied with a smile shaking his hand.
"Y/F/N how have you been" you turned around to see a familiar face and laughed because he was an old friend.
"quite well, however terribly bored with all of these meetings. How'd you get in anyway they must have this place crawling with security footage" you challenged.
"Oh yeah they did the whole pat down and everything when we landed" he shouted.
You laughed as to the light heartedness he showed,
"and it wouldn't be official without you," he continued pointing in your direction.
"it seems thats true Ive been to 12 of these dang gatherings in the past month. It's a nightmare," you replied rolling your eyes.
"It seems they've lost my invitations for the past few meetings," he joked.
"Oh trust me you haven't missed much" you replied quietly.
You were both chatting and laughing as to how busy you have been and how busy he hadn't been although you worked for the same group of people. Two men walked into the room one came directly over to you and the other filled a glass of water and took a seat at the head of the table. He tapped his glass a few times as if he were to make a toast.
"Y/F/N,"
you nodded at the man calling your name meeting him in the middle of the room.
"I don't want you to take notes today I need you to do the director a favor" he rose his brows as if for reassurance and wanting a reply
"Oh sure, yes, anything you need,"
"There is going to be a representative from the First Order coming to this meeting we need you to study his body language, his replies and even who he converses with," he stated as casually as possible.
"Who is it I'm looking for" you questioned.
"His name is Kylo Ren," he said handing you a glass of water that was just poured.
Realizing that Kylo Ren was the man who killed people he worked with and practically every person feared you replied with
"Done," and a smile.
"Great, The meeting will begin shortly and he will be here soon You will be sitting next to Kylo Ren for the meeting and I will be next to the director. Are you sure you're up for this?" He questioned
Nope not at all thanks for asking I think I'll pass on this one
"Of course, it's my job" you replied jokingly .
"and you're the best we've ever had the director speaks so highly of you all the time He may even name you his successor. But thats a conversation for another time I'll speak with you after the meeting."
As you nodded to each other he made his way over to the director and simultaneously the doors opened as Kylo Ren walked in.
Kylo scanned the room in the entrance way and then made his way over to the director. The director stood and spoke some words to Kylo Ren and then pointed to a seat. Assuming this was the seat Kylo would be sitting in you knew where you needed to sit and surprisingly your name was already written on a small folded sheet of paper. The director once again rose his glass and called for the meeting to start. You sat down in the seat already picked out for you setting down your glass.
Instantly a wave of nervousness came over you once you settled in, and you couldn't even look at Kylo so you placed your hands in your lap to keep youself calm. Your boss sat next to the director and made eye contact with you as to say, remember to pay attention to the guy sitting next to you.
you looked down at your glass and then heard your name from the person to your right.
"_____" Kylo questioned easily.
Turning your head to face him
"yeah that's me," you said hesitatingly
"I've heard so much about you,"
you squinted a little as to what he could've heard about you
"Good things of course, and you know there is a position in the Order available if you're ever looking for a new atmosphere" he said looking directly into your eyes.
"The order thats a tricky place" you said looking to the walls ahead of you to break the stare.
But as you did you felt memories being brought forward by something or someone it was a little painful and you begun to blink quickly again to keep your vision from blurring. You heard your name again but couldn't drag yourself to look at Kylo.
Kylo spoke up into the conversation putting in his opinion so that it seemed as if he was actually paying attention as to what was happening in the meeting.
You were just trying to focus on breathing because you felt uneasy like you could pass out but you knew this was not the time nor place to do so.
You thought to yourself,
maybe I should drink some water
And instantly a hand grabbed your glass and gently grasped your hand to place onto the glass for you. You drank some water and Kylo kept adding information into the conversation while keeping a close eye on your condition. As the meeting ended Kylo waited unitl you got up to make sure you could walk steadily. The director made his way over to you both.
"Ms. Y/L/N are you feeling alright you didn't seem as oppionated tonight" he questioned.
"Oh yes I'm quite alright I merely wanted to hear others opinions in the meeting today," you replied cooly.
Kylo briefly smiled at your wit and could already tell that you would do great in the order.
"Director I believe that Ms.Y/L/N would do well in the order and serve a larger purpose to us than just attending meetings," Kylo said thoroughly.
You looked to the director concealing your smile to the best of your ability. After this statement from Kylo the director and your boss who had walked over to join the conversation had realized that you to were not talking about the meeting whatsoever and your mission to oversee Kylo Ren's replies would be of no use to them.
"Well see Kylo Ren possibly negotiations can be made but Y/F/N is one of our best and were not quite ready to let her go yet" the director instructed with somewhat of an attitude.
"I believe negotiations can be made director" Kylo challenged.
The director nodded to Kylo and then he walked away from the conversation because it seemed as though he could have punched Kylo at that moment.
What seemed like an hour had passed and Kylo spoke to quite a few people in the room and you just stood at his side almost looking like a secretary to him or a colleague because he asked for your thoughts multiple times. People also came over to you greeting you and speaking about current situations and people would approach him with the same types of questions. You decided it was time for you to leave and made your way out of the doors starting down the hallway with your guards behind you. You were walking out to the landing pad and were caught once more but Kylo.
"I was serious about you working for the order, we could use someone like you," he replied sincerely
"Someone like me says Kylo Ren" you laughed and he smiled as to how light hearted you could be.
"Someone who can face any task because their family passed away forcing them to grow up and make something of their self, someone who knows the price of war someone who doesn't know which side to choose so they become as independent as possible not wanting to let anyone down," You turned around walking to your fighter not wanting to look him in the eyes
He continued
"Someone like me because I know how it feels, when it seems like all you can do is let people down even when you do things right, and Y/F/N you're capable of so much more than this,"
You looked back at him and then kept walking and he took strides toward you.
"Your father worked aside my grandfather and He was great as his job and he could have become a Sith lord," You stopped and turned your head slightly to gesture for him to continue,
"But he didn't" he stepped in front of you and you kept your eyes on his chest not wanting him to know what you were thinking.
"And your mother, a Jedi" he spit out you glared up at him.
"What's your point?" you questioned annoyingly.
"Come with me, and train you can use the force and you know you can, don't deny it," he persuaded
"I'll think about it but I'm pretty busy at the moment," you replied cooly walking up the fighter's deck.
"I'll find you" he shouted desperately.
"Good luck with that" you replied jokingly and you heard him laughing as the doors were closing. You knew he would find you and you kind of hoped he would.
