When opposites attract

Type: Sweet falling in love/part of Thomas AU

Ship: Moceit

Patton hums a happy tune as he cooks up some pancakes. He turns as he hears footsteps down the stairs.

"Morning, kiddo! Pancakes'll be done in a minute!" Patton says.

He turns to the person.

"Hello, Patton," Logan says, "Thank you,"

"No problem! I take it you want the same kind as yesterday?" Patton asks.

"What do you mean?" Logan asks.

"Your Crofter's, silly!" Patton says.

"Oh yes, I'd like the same as yesterday. Blueberry, was it?" Logan asks.

"Bingo!" Patton says, grabbing the half-full jar.

He slides it onto the counter, it landing right next to Logan's plate. Patton grabs his spatula and puts two blueberry pancakes on the plate.

"Here ya go, Lo! Roman had a late night last night, so he won't be up for another half-hour or so," Patton says as he hands the plate to Logan.

"I see. And thank you. You are an impressive cook," he says.

"Aw, thank you kiddo!" Patton says, smiling brightly.

---

Janus smiles as Patton hands him a plate of pancakes.

"I see. Thank you," he says, "You are an impressive cook,"

Janus smiles inside when he sees Patton's tiny blush. This boy is an angel that can bite back while smiling.

Absolutely perfect in every way.

"Aw, thank you kiddo!" Patton says.

They eat breakfast in relative silence, Janus reading a newspaper to appear more like Logan.

"Good morning, my friends!" Roman says, bounding down the stairs.

"Morning, kiddo! Is Virge coming?" Patton asks.

"Don't know. He shouted at me to 'screw off' when I knocked on his door," Roman says.

Janus tries to muffle his snort.

"Logan?" Roman asks.

"I got something up my nose," Janus snaps.

"Sure. Because you always reject emotion. I forgot," Roman says in a teasing tone.

Janus rolls his eyes.

"I'll go get Virgil. He hasn't come to breakfast in over a week!" Patton says, going upstairs.

Another thing Janus likes about Patton: He's so considerate and caring.

---

Janus enters Logan's room. It's after breakfast now, and he doesn't want anyone getting suspicious.

"Logan, so good to see you. I hope you didn't want breakfast," he says, looking at Logan.

"What do you want from us, Deceit?" he spits.

"Nothing. Actually, I brought you some pancakes," Janus says, handing Logan a plate.

"I don't believe you," Logan says.

"Then be that way. And if I wanted to hurt the others, I wouldn't embody someone they didn't listen to," Janus says.

He turns around, and just before he leaves, he says,

"Oh, and not a word to the others. In any way, shape, or form," he says, "Understand?"

"Yes," Logan says.

Janus leaves to go back to his side of the Mindpalace.

"Hey, Janus! Where were you?" Remus asks.

"Somewhere," Janus says.

"Wanna play Crabs against Humanity?" Remus asks.

"What?" Janus asks.

"Cards against Humanity but with crabs!" Remus says.

"No. I have things to do," Janus says.

"Awww. Guess I'll play with the crabs," Remus shrugs.

---

A few weeks have passed with Janus disguising himself as Logan. Slowly, he became more flirty. Patton's giggle gives him so much joy.

Patton knocks on Roman's door.

"Come in!" Roman says.

Patton opens the door.

"Hey kiddo," he says.

"Hello, Padre!"

Patton walks into the room.

"Roman, what would you do if you think someone likes you?" he asks.

"Well, do you like them back?" Roman asks.

"Kinda," Patton says.

"Then tell them. With roses! In a romantic setting! I can help set up!" Roman says.

"Wait- I said think! I don't entirely know!" Patton says.

"Fineeee. Who is it?" Roman asks.

"Logan," Patton says.

"Logan? He doesn't feel anything," Roman says.

"But I think he does," Patton says.

"Ok ok, I'll watch you two. I can sense romance in the air," Roman says, smirking.

"Great! Thanks, kiddo!" Patton says.

He leaves and goes downstairs.

"Oh, hey Logan!" he says.

Roman listens from the top of the stairs, out of view.

"Hello, Patton. You look lovely today," 'Logan' says.

"Aw, thanks! You too!" Patton says.

"Would you like to hang out later?" 'Logan' asks.

'Hang out?' Roman furrows his eyebrows. Logan doesn't say that.

"Sure! When?" Patton asks.

"Tonight. We can- uh- bake, maybe?" 'Logan' suggests.

Patton beams.

"Sounds great!" he says.

---

"So do you think he likes me?" Patton asks.

He's back in Roman's room.

"I think he is acting strange. Since when does Logan like to bake?" Roman asks.

"Maybe he wants to just spend time with me!" Patton says.

"Maybe," Roman mutters.

He's suspicious. 'Logan' has been acting... off. He doesn't think it's just a crush.

"Well, it's time for me to go! See ya later, alligator!" Patton says.

"Pat, wait-" Roman starts to say as Patton closes the door.

He sighs. It's too late.

"HEY PRINCEY! CARE TO EXPLAIN WHY THERE IS LIPSTICK ALL OVER THE MIRROR!?"

Roman laughs and goes over to the bathroom, where a very angry Virgil is. They start arguing, leaving Roman to forget about Patton.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Patton and 'Logan' start baking.

"Alright, then we need eggs," Patton says.

"On it!" 'Logan' says.

He hands Patton a carton of eggs.

They continue to bake for a while, getting flour and chocolate all over.

"This is such a mess," Janus says.

"Eh, we can clean it up later," Patton says.

He tosses a little flour at 'Logan', who smiles.

"It's good that I wore an apron," he says.

"Yeah, I probably should have! I'm a mess," Patton says.

"An adorable one," 'Logan' says.

---

While the cookies are in the oven, Patton and 'Logan' look for a movie to watch. Patton has never been so happy.

"Oooh, how about this one?" Patton asks, holding up 101 Dalmations.

"Sure," 'Logan' says.

Patton puts in the movie and settles on the couch.

"Patton, can I show you something?" 'Logan' asks.

"Yeah, what is it?" Patton asks.

Janus takes a deep breath and lets himself shift back into himself. Patton lets out a gasp.

"Deceit?!" he asks.

Janus sighs.

"Please, call me Janus," he says.

Patton looks at him.

"But- why?" he asks.

"I- I love you, Patton. You are perfect in every way. I love you," Janus says.

"I- I guess I do too. I mean, I thought you were Logan but it's really you but I still like you nonetheless," Patton says, "But where is Logan?"

"He's in his room. I've been bringing him food and water and letting him go wherever, as long as it's away from you. I just didn't want him to tell everyone and for you to cast me out again," Janus explains.

"Well, I guess that's not so bad," Patton says, "And I think it would be wrong to cast you out again,"

"So, can- can we be together?" Janus asks.

"Yes. Under one condition," Patton says.

"Anything," Janus promises.

"Never. Deceive me. Again," Patton says.

"I promise. And I'm sorry," Janus says.

"It's ok," Patton says.

He cuddles up on Janus's chest, and the two of them sit together, watching the movie.
