*Patton POV*
"Do it. DO IT NOW!" the voice shouts.
"I- I can't. I won't!" I say, my voice trembling.
"Do it or I'll get rid of Thomas. And it'll be all your fault,"
"I- I-"
"Aw, it Morality feeling a little morally challenged? I told you life isn't black and white, no matter what you say. Maybe you should just give in and give up,"
"No! Thomas needs me! I need the others! I- I can't!" I shout.
"Yes, but if you truly love the other sides you wouldn't be here in the first place. Now DO IT!" the voice commands.
"No!" I shout.
"Would you rather leave them? Would you rather leave Thomas?" they shout.
"I don't know! I mean, no! I don't want to do any of this!" I shout.
"You got yourself into this mess. Now you have to get yourself out,"
I wake up in a cold sweat, letting out a shriek. My walls are soundproof, but I still worry that I woke the others.
As I try to fall back asleep I hear a knock at the door. I get up and go to open it.
"Oh, hey kiddo," I say, seeing Virgil in the doorway.
"Hey Pat," he says, "Can I come in?"
"Of course! Is everything alright?" I ask.
"Yeah," Virgil says as I close the door.
"Then what do ya need?" I ask.
"I want to know if you are ok," Virgil says.
"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?" I say.
"I've been hearing you whimper in your sleep and I just heard you scream. Somethings going on. Are you alright?" Virgil asks.
I sit down on my bed.
"I- yes. I am fine, Virgil," I say.
I can't have him worrying about me. I'm perfectly fine, I just have nightmares. It's no big deal.
"I thought you were against lying, Pat. Just tell me what's wrong," Virgil says.
He sits down next to me.
"I- I- I've been having nightmares," I admit, "Where I have to hurt you guys and I'm told I'm a failure and a let down to Thomas,"
"You're not, but I know that won't stop the nightmares. But Patton, I'll always be here for you when they happen, just like you were always there for me when I first arrived," Virgil says.
I look up at him.
"Really, kiddo?" I ask.
"Of course. You're my best friend, and we all love you. So you don't have to feel closed off, we're always here. I'm always here," Virgil says.
"O-ok," I say.
He gets up to leave.
"Wait-" I say, "Could- could you stay here for the night? I don't want to be alone,"
Virgil sits back down.
"Of course," he says.
"Thanks, kiddo," I say.
*Virgil POV*
CRASH
I wake up with a start. I look around the room to see Patton gone. And then I hear screaming outside.
I rush out but I'm too late. He's gone.
"You should have been more vigilant," a voice says.
"I- I know," I say.
"You do, do you? Then why weren't you? You could have prevented this!"
"I'm sorry! I know this is my fault!" I shout, tears in my eyes.
"Virgil, what's going on?" Logan asks, walking out of his room.
He freezes when he sees me.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" he shouts.
"I- I- I'm sorry! I'm too late, I know!" I shout, really close to crying now.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN SMARTER! YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER! LOOK WHAT YOU DID!" Logan shouts.
"Useless," Roman scoffs.
Where did Roman even come from?
I sink down to the ground and sob.
"Kiddo? Virge, wake up!"
I feel someone shaking my shoulder and I open my eyes.
"Virgil? What happened?" Patton asks.
I look around and cling to his shoulder.
"I- you- nightmare," I mumble.
"It's ok. I'll protect you," Patton says, patting my head.
"I- it felt too real. And too awful," I say.
"Well, whatever it was isn't real. You're wonderful and amazing," Patton says, "You're my dark, strange son,"
"Yeah. But I don't want to go back to sleep. Can we watch a movie?" I ask.
"Sure. Maybe that'll distract our minds when we do fall asleep," Patton says.
I grab a movie off Patton's shelf. He has a bunch of light-hearted kid's movies, so any of them will be good.
"Ooh, how about this one?" Patton asks, grabbing another, "Spirited away,"
"I love that one," I say.
He smiles and sits down next to me as the movie starts.
"Are you going to be ok?" Patton asks.
I nod.
"I think I will. Can we do this tomorrow night?" I ask.
"We can do it every night," Patton says.
"I think I would like that," I say.
As much as I enjoy my alone time, it's nice to be with Patton. At least I know we can help each other with our nightmares.
After the movie, Patton goes back up to his bed.
"Patton?" I ask.
"Yeah, kiddo?"
"Sweet dreams," I say.
He smiles.
"You too," he says, "I'll wake you up if they're not,"
"Thanks," I say, "I'll try to do the same,"
This is pretty short but it feels cute. Requests are still open, peace out you magnificent peep!
