I walked up to the door to the apartment, bundled up in my large puffy jacket. Courfeyrac, my best friend, knocked quickly on the door. We'd caught a cab together to the big Christmas Eve party Enjolras and Cosette hosted every year in their shared apartment, that we basically all lived at.

Courfeyrac, Enjolras, Cosette, Eponine, Combeferre, Grantaire, Joly, Bousset, Musichetta, Jehan, Marius, Montparnasse, Feuilly, and I all lived in the same apartment complex. We all switched between apartments and spent all our time with one another. I had clothes and toothbrushes at everyone's apartments from the countless times I'd spent the night at each of their apartments.

Cosette flung open the door quickly and grabbed both of us by the arms, dragging us inside to a cozy apartment decorated with white and red decorations and a large Christmas tree in the center of the living room.

I laughed softly as I pulled off my coat, revealing a(n) f/c turtleneck sweater underneath, and hung it on the coatrack. "Going for a candy cane theme this year, huh, 'Sette?"

Cosette groaned. "I wanted white decorations, but Enjolras insisted on red, so we compromised."

I smiled. "Of course he did."

As if on cue, Enjolras entered from another room and grinned. "Hey, y/n, Courfeyrac." We both waved, wandering around the apartment.

"But seriously, you guys really outdid yourselves this year," Courfeyrac commented, his eyes fixing on a string of cranberries and white-chocolate popcorn strung from the ceiling in the kitchen, gasping. "Is that real popcorn?!" He yelled, not waiting for an answer before running out of the living room.

"Courfeyrac, nO-" Cosette sprinted after him, quickly gaining on him. I laughed. That girl was tiny and looked fragile, but was definitely a force to be reckoned with when someone was trying to eat her Christmas decorations.

A few minutes later, Jehan and Bahorel arrived, Jehan carrying presents in his arms. He always gave the best presents, so naturally, everyone was excited to see him.

Eponine, Marius, Grantaire, and Combeferre arrived shortly after, followed by Bousset, Joly, Musichetta, Feuilly, and Montparnasse. All of us were milling about the living room that definitely wasn't built to hold all twelve of us.

About a half hour after everyone had arrived, we all ate the pizza Cosette had ordered since really none of us could cook. Everyone settled in in the living room, plates of pizza in our hands, many of us sitting on the floor.

Cosette turned on a Hallmark movie, but we really just talked over it, laughing about everything that had happened over the past year and remembering past Christmases.

I brought my glass of eggnog up to my lips but promptly returned it to its spot on the coffee table as I remembered something. "Oh! Do you guys remember that time when for an assignment Gavroche was asked to draw a picture of his family and he drew all of us?"

Enjolras smiled. "Yes! I still have the copy Eponine made for me hanging on my fridge." I laughed.

"And that time I dared Bahorel to eat a nacho chip I sprayed with Crisco," Courfeyrac offered.

Bahorel piped up, "You still owe me thirty bucks."

"And that time I got caught doing graffiti in the subway and Ep had to come get me from my holding cell," Grantaire contributed, raising his glass of eggnog that he had definitely spiked.

Eponine nodded. "You're lucky you have such a good friend."

"We're all lucky to have such good friends," Cosette said warmly through smiling teeth.

"Now don't go getting all sappy on us, 'Sette," Courfeyrac warned, but he grinned too.

I knew everyone in the room was thinking of the same thing. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have such a big, tight-knit group of friends that were amazing as them. Over the past year, we'd made so many memories and I had a feeling there were only good things waiting for us in the year ahead.

More cheesy school projects by our youngest member.

More stupid bets that are usually either hazardous to our health or illegal.

More late night trips to jail to pick up our drunken friends.

And more of Les Amis.
