(Y/N)'s POV

"...and then I turn to my superior officer and said "Wait that's your mother?"" Undyne starts making that weird noise that I have learned to be her laugh. When she keeps laughing I soon join her in laughing.

"Ha! That's hilarious (Y/N)! Your boss probably loved it too!" She falls back from her seated position from laughing so hard. My laughter starts to die however at the memory of my superior's reaction.

"No, but she seemed to get a kick out of my punishment." Undyne wipes a tear from her eye and sits back up.

"Oh, what did she do?"

"Well after five hundred push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, and burpees she had me run the perimeter of the base."

"WHAT?!" She practically shrieks causing my ears to ring. While I try to clear my ears she gets angrier by the second. "I can get doing some things to make you understand that jokes aren't the best in those situations but what the heck?!" She starts to get up. "I have half a mind to go and teach her who's boss!" Quickly I grab her arm and pull her back down.

"Oh come on Undyne it's not that bad. Really what's done is done." She gives me a sad look.

"But (Y/N) there is punishment and then there is sadism. I don't like knowing one of my only human friends are dealing with things like that." I can't help but smile at the sentiment.

"Thanks, Undyne that means a lot but if you were to go to my boss then you might make things worse, you know?" She sighs a little bit and relents.

"Alright (Y/N) I won't do anything. Just know that if I did fight her I would definitely beat her." She smirks with that last statement. With a chuckle, I nod my head in agreement before we fall into a few minutes of silence. Honestly, it's not so much awkward silence just us enjoying each other's company. To think a year ago if you told me that the old monsters of legend were real or that a child would be their ambassador or that I, some ordinary soldier, would be one of the soldiers assigned to the joint operation of monsters and humans protecting said kid well I would have sent you to a psych ward. Yet this is where I am. What may be the strangest of all would be that one of my closest friends would be one of those monsters but honestly, I am grateful that she is. I guess one of the reasons we have gotten along so well is because of our job as the bodyguards to Frisk and the fact that we are soldiers helps though one could call us different soldiers given our attire and training. I am shaken from my thoughts when I hear a sniff. Looking over at Undyne I can see she is sniffing and tearing up a little. Looking out in front us I can see the cause of her current emotions. Right now the sun is setting and is bathing the landscape before us in its orange glow. Whenever we are around others and the sun starts to set Undyne will try to focus on other things or try to ignore it but we both know that she loves the sun sets. On her more controlled days she will just get a little misty eyed but on days like this, she will get a little emotional. Then again I may look at sunsets differently if I grew up underground like her. She starts to wipe her eyes as the sun finally sinks under the horizon.

"Hey you okay?" She blushes from my concern.

"W-what are you talking about? I'm fine!" She then hops up from her spot. "Come on (Y/N) let's go do something!" She then rushes off into the distance. Laughing I get up and follow my amphibian friend. Yeah, she may be weird but that's just what I love about her and I wouldn't have it any other way.
