Lyon and Meredy
One-Shot 4
Meredy pushed back her waving pink hair.
She needed to concentrate.
Did the egg go in now or later? What had Juvia said?
Sighing, the pretty girl turned away from the counter and stalked into her living room to grab her cellphone.
Finding it, she flipped it open to dial her bestfriend's number.
"Hello, this is Juvia!"
"Juvia!" Meredy grinned as she walked back into the kitchen, "I'm having trouble with the cake..."
There was a sigh from the other end and Meredy suppressed a giggle.
"Couldn't you wait for Juvia to get home, Meredy?"
"No!" Meredy laughed, "What if these kids that're supposed to come over arrive before you get home?"
"Juvia's on her way now... Meredy doesn't need to worry."
"Well," Meredy scratched her flour caked nose, "Okay, then. I'll just wait for you to get home then."
Meredy could almost see Juvia's kind smile from the other end, "Juvia will be home soon. Be safe."
Meredy grinned, "Sure. You too."
Closing the phone and placing it down, Meredy glanced around the kitchen to cringe.
The place was a mess.
Best to get it cleaned up before poor Juvia showed up.
The girls lived together in a perfect house in a rather friendly neighbourhood.
Almost all the people down their block loved the two gorgeous friends and had taken to looking at them like their own children.
That particular night, Juvia and Meredy had offered to take care of their tiny kids and toddlers so the young parents could take a romantic dinner outside for once.
The neighbours had agreed rather happily and Juvia and Meredy had decided to get some snacks ready for the kids who were sure to show up soon.
Meredy straightened from cleaning up the spilt milk when the doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of a guest.
"Coming!" The pretty girl called, tossing the rag near the sink and running to the door as fast as she could.
Reaching the door, she paused before unlocking and proceeding to open.
To Meredy's surprise, she found a rather handsome man stand at the door.
The male had silvery-white hair spilling over his forehead. His sharp eyes caught hers and he took a moment of surprise before addressing her.
"Hello. My name is Lyon Vastia."
Meredy only nodded, unsure of why he was at her doorstep.
Lyon took a deep breath before a sheepish expression crossed his face, "My friend, Gray, and I have been sent to help you with the kids for the night."
Meredy blinked, "Oh, but wh-"
"Grandmother Ur."
The wry look he gave her caused her to laugh, the sound making Lyon blink and stare for a moment.
"Well, Okay then," She gave him a wide smile, "Why don't you come inside, Lyon?"
The man blinked before nodding, moving past her to enter the house.
"Um," Meredy glanced around the driveway, "Your friend doesn't seem to be here..."
She looked back inside the house to see Lyon nod, "He always takes a while to listen to Ur's commands. The stubborn fool is bound to be here so-"
"Lyon, you bastard!!"
Meredy blinked when she heard the shout from across the street.
Lyon sighed, "How unfortunate. He's here."
Meredy stared at Lyon's good looking face for a moment before turning to the door.
A man stood leaning against it, panting and out of breath, dark navy-blue hair falling into his face.
He straightened to shot Lyon a glare.
Lyon didn't respond.
Meredy stared.
How did she miss two dangerously handsome men living right opposite her house?
Were Juvia and her that blind?
Lyon seemed to note the emotions on her face, "We've only just moved in with our grandmother," he responded, making the pretty girl jerk up to pay him attention.
"This is my best friend," There was a certain stress that he had to lay on the last to words as he shot his room-mate a look that said oblige, "Gray Fullbuster."
Lyon watched Meredy spin around to glance at his companion, "Hi! My name is Meredy."
Gray only nodded, "Hey."
Meredy turned to Lyon again to smile, "The kids aren't here yet. My friend, Juvia, should be here soon too."
Lyon nodded, one hand deep in his pant pocket, before he raised his other hand to massage the back of his neck, "My apologies. We didn't mean to just drop by unannounced like this. Grandmother can be rather... surprising and sudden with her requests..."
"Witch." Gray muttered.
Meredy waved his apology away, "Don't worry about it."
Her smile could've melted the ice cap off a mountain, "I'm sure Grandmother Ur just wanted to help."
Lyon stared for a moment before catching himself, "Of course."
"Would you guys like something to drink?" Meredy walked past him and further into the house.
Lyon looked over at Gray who silently nodded toward the open door.
Should they close it.
The boys stood there for a moment before shrugging.
Almost nothing could go wrong in this neighboourhood.
If things did turn bad, Lyon decided he and Gray would take down any unwanted guests.
"How about lemonade?" Meredy's cheerful voice carried into the living room the guys walked into.
"Sounds good." Gray called before settling down into a couch.
Lyon looked around the cozy room for a second.
Neat and lovely, the place looked rather comfortable.
"Why don't we have a place like this?" Gray voiced.
Lyon sank into a chair, posture straightening before he laid his arms on his knees for support, "We can make changes to Grandmother Ur's place, Gray."
"Huh," Gray relaxed into the couch, creating a headrest by folding his hands behind him.
Lyon sat in the chair before rising to find Meredy.
Helping the poor girl was why they were here anyway.
He almost walked out of the room before stopping to throw a cushion into Gray's resting face.
Satisfied with the growl he heard, he walked into the girls' kitchen.
Meredy was on the phone, giggling to someone about cakes and lemonade.
Lyon watched the girl for a few seconds.
It was almost like she had become some sort of sunshine in the room.
A few seconds later the girl began whispering something about goodlooking neighbours and a certain kind boy with an ink-blue cheerleading costume kind fashion sense.
Lyon looked down at himself before raising an eyebrow.
A few more descriptions of the knight made Lyon blush.
He cleared his throat making Meredy jump.
She almost dropped her phone, her pretty eyes wide and lips parted in surprise.
He didn't meet her eyes as he walked over to the fridge to pull it open.
Finding a bottle of ice-cold water, Lyon took hold of it to pull it out before closing the fridge door.
Looking over he found Meredy watching him, perched rather happily on top of the counter.
She caught his glance to give him an embarassed smile, "Just telling my friend what had happened."
Lyon smiled back before joining her at the counter, opening his bottle to drink.
Meredy played with her phone.
"Again," Lyon said once he had closed the bottle of water, "I apologize for dropping on you unannounced."
"That's alright," Meredy gave him another bright smile, "You guys are nice to want to come over and help."
Lyon chuckled, "When Grandmother Ur tells you to do something now, you have little say in the matter."
Meredy laughed, causing the handsome man to look up.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right, Lyon! Erza and Jellal said they'd come over to help but in the end they couldn't make it."
"Oh?" Lyon nodded, noting her soft smile and the lovely way she laughed. "You still seemed rather cheerful when you opened the door."
"I thought it would be Juvia," Meredy giggled, "I needed to make cake and didn't know how... She'll help me once she gets here."
Lyon nodded, "I hope that's before the children arrive."
Meredy played with her soft, pink hair, "Yeah... I should probably call her again."
Lyon only watched as Meredy opened her phone again.
A slight blush dusted her cheeks as she waited for Juvia to pick up and Lyon wondered what she was thinking.
Opening the bottle of water, Lyon raised it to his lips to drink.
Juvia picked up.
"Hey, Juvia. This is Meredy. We're still waiting for you. Just me, Nice Knight and Ice Eyes."
Lyon sprayed water all over the counter.
Meredy gasped before dissolving into giggles a second later.
The silver-haired boy stared at what he'd done.
He was such an idiot.
Meredy only winked at him before jumping off her end of the counter to grab a rag, "No, no, Juvia. Everything's fine here."
Lyon kicked himself inwardly before walking over to gently take the cloth out of Meredy's hands.
Meredy gave him a slight pout before letting him take the rag from her, "Yeah, we're in the kitchen. The kids aren't here yet. How long will it take you to get here?"
Lyon cleaned up the counter in a matter of seconds, his mind lecturing him on his stupidity and incompetence.
"Oh? Oh, okay. Hurry though. Bye, Juvia!"
Moving to the counter, he turned the faucet on to wash the cloth he'd just used.
There were a few giggles from Meredy, "Yes, yes, Meredy loves you too, Juvia!"
He heard her flip her phone shut before skipping over to him.
Standing at least a head shorter than him, the sweet girl stared at what he was doing with wide eyes, "Oh, Lyon, you don't need to."
Lyon didn't stop, "It was my fault."
Meredy reached over to turn off the rushing water, "You were just surprised, that's all."
Lyon squeezed the rag out before laying it away, "I'm sorry."
Meredy gave him a helpless smile, "You don't need to feel so bad about it, you know."
The boy looked into her eyes for a moment before shaking his hea with a smile, "Your comment caught me off guard."
Meredy giggled, "Was I off?"
"Not at all." The corners of Lyon's lips twitched.
The smile that Meredy gave him next made the man's heart flip.
It bordered between sweet and cute and the way her hair moved when she did only made matters worse.
Lyon swallowed.
He'd made such a fool of himself in front of the girl.
Meredy perched on the counter and signalled for Lyon to sit on the stool, face still a bright smile.
Lyon obliged, feeling guiltier by the second for being there and for getting her more work.
The pretty girl gasped, "I forgot to get you two lemonade."
"No, Me-"
She slid off the counter before he could protest.
"Poor Gray, he's probably thirsty!"
Lyon almost laughed, "He's pobably asleep."
Meredy gave him a smile before leaving the kitchen with a drink.
Entering the room again, she jumped up on top of the counter again, sitting right beside him, "Thanks again for offering to help. And, Gray was asleep."
Lyon smiled, his expression still dignified and steady, "Of course, he is."
Meredy laughed, "I woke him up!"
The handsome man couldn't help but smile, "That must have been pleasant."
Meredy began to giggle.
"Meredy."
The pink-haired girl looked down at him, "Yeah?"
A slight blush spread across Lyon's cheeks, "I should have told you this a little earlier but... I..."
He struggled as the girl leaned in, curiousity lighting up her pretty eyes.
"W- Uh," Lyon gave her a nervous laugh, "I'm sorry for telling so late but... you have flour... on you nose..."
Meredy blinked as Lyon's eyes showed amusement.
"Here," the man reached over to slide flour gently off her nose.
A soft blushed touched Meredy's cheeks.
Lyon looked up again to let a fear settle in his stomach.
He hoped he hadn't gone too far, touching her without permission.
He rarely did anything reckless or on impulse.
Meredy watched his horrified expression before laughing.
The guy looked terrified.
Like he'd done something that required imprisonment.
She smiled down at the gentleman before bending down to place a tender kiss on his cheek.
When he didn't say anything, she landed softly on the floor to bend over and give him a hug.
There was a moment of silence before Lyon's hands wrapped around her waist to pull her to him.
Meredy giggled as she nustled into the kind, blushing man's neck.
The sweetheart gave her a smile before shifting to let her get comfortable against him.
"MEREDY!!"
Meredy jumped from where she sat on Lyon's lap to look over the shoulder her head rested on.
Juvia stood panting against the kitchen door, eyes wide and still not looking at the scene in front of her, "There's an incredibly handsome stranger in Meredy and Juvia's living room and Juvia is really scared of how she's going to talk to hi-"
Juvia stared at her friend.
Lyon rose to let Meredy gently down before turning to Juvia, "Lyon Vastia. Nice to meet you."
Juvia stared as Meredy gave her a wide smile.
"Hey," Gray walked up to the group, "What's with all the screamin' all of a sudden?"
Lyon and Meredy smiled at the wide eyed Juvia who seemed to plead to them to help.
"Introduce yourself, Gray," Lyon stated before looking over at Meredy with a tender smile.
Gray raised an eyebrow,"Gray Fullbuster. You must be Juvia Locksar, our neighbour?"
Meredy laughed and hug-tackled her pretty friend before she passed out.
A/N: Eh heh heh heh...
I'm just going to go...
