Cheers filled Ross ears as he hopped off the stool, and walking towards the table that was complete with yellow and black. He sat down at the table and was congratulated by many older kids. He smiled, knowing that his was his house now, his family. He was a Hufflepuff.
~~~Year 4~~~
Max sighed as he walked into the Slytherin common room, Adam following behind him. "Finally a weekend." Adam mumbled as he sat on the leather couch. Max nodded, sitting in one of the nearby chairs.
"Is everyone going up to Hogsmeed soon?" Max asked with a bored tone.
"Yeah, tommorow." Adam agreed as he ran his fingers through his hair.
~~~○~~~
"Red!" Ross called out, running down one of the corridors. The ginger turned around and saw his curly haired friend.
"Hey Ross, what's up?" Red asked, pulling his red and black cloak around him more.
"Ohh, I was just wondering if you wanted to meet up at HoneyDukes, as friends of course." He added on with a smile.
"Dude of course, why wouldn't I." Ross smiled at the comment.
"Cool, you wouldn't mind if Shelby came too?" He said fixing his glasses.
"No of course not. She's pretty chill." Red added with a smile. Ross smiled back, glad at the thought.
"Red!" A voice rang out through the hallway. Both males turned and looked behind them, seeing a girl with long back hair and a blue and black cloak.
"Jess!" Both said happily. As they let her join the now forming circle.
"So, you guys ready for the weekend!" She asked them. "I know I am, you guys going to HoneyDukes?" Both males nodded. "Cool, can I join?"
"Yeah," Red said happily. "The more the merrier." Both smiled at Jess.
"Thanks, but Red and I need to study." Red nodded before looking at Ross. "Need to keep that school pride!" She said before scampering off, Red following.
Ross sighed as he was now left alone. He then proceeded to walk to his common room.

Time had passed and soon it came to go to Hogsmeed. Ross has his slip sighed by his parents, considering they didn't know what it was he got it sighed pretty easily.
Red, Jess, and Shubs were also there. Shelby was also a Hufflepuff. They all waited in line excitedly while a teacher took their slips.
They soon all made it to the pub, the warmth seeping over them. They all ordered the butterbeer and sat down at a table near the door.
"I love the winter time," Shubs said as she looked out the nearby window. Snow fell gently across the landscape. Ross nodded as he took a sip. The four of them mostly just talked about school and the work load.
"So when are you and that Barney guy going to start dating?" Jess asked calmly, like talking about the weather. Red choked on his drink, his eyes widening.
"I um... I don't think he likes me." Red mumbled setting down his drink.
"You are so blushing!!" Jess squealed. Red looked at her as to shut her up.
"Hes popular, and cute, and just perfect... there's no way we could ever get together. " Red said sadly as he set his drink down.
"You never know, stranger things have happened" Ross said as he took a sip.
"Yeah I mean my chances are better than yours. You like a Slytherin!" Red said with a laugh. Ross took his cup away from his lips and started a coughing fit.
Once calmed down he looked at everyone who had huge smiled on their faces. "Yes I do have a small liking for the Slytherin..." Ross mumbled sheepishly. The girls squealed happily drawing a little attention towards the group. Both boys ducked their heads, blushing madly.
"Which Slytherin do you like?" Ross didn't answer right away as he took a sip of his drink.
"Lets just go guys." Ross mumbled, leaving his drink on the table as he stood up. He was almost out the door before he got jerked back in by his cloak. He was soon face to face with his crush. A blush bloomed on his cheeks as he saw the fiery ginger hair and the deep brown eyes.
"Hello little Hufflepuff." Max said with a smirk as he let him go. Max always found this male different. He had a strange attraction to him, but being a pure blood, his parents wouldnt allow it.
"H-hello." Ross stammered, scared and flustered at the sight of the mean Slytherin. Max looked him up and down, happy that he was scared.
"You know you need something..." Max said with a smirk.
"W-what?" Ross mumbled, scared on what he was going to do. Max reached over to their vacant table and grabbed Ross's left over drink.
"Drink up you filthy mudblood." Max said before poring the drink over Ross's head. Ross gasped as the liquid traveled down his skin. Tears started to form in his eyes, as he bolted out the door.
"Ross!" His friends yelled out as they chased after him, but he was long gone. Ross ran through the snow, the cold stung his skin, making him shiver.
He raced back to the castle before running into the nearby bathroom. He gripped the skin, washing out the sticky drink. Tears traveled down his chubby cheeks as he pulled off his glasses, setting them down on the edge of the sink.
He heard the door open with a bang, he looked up and saw the ginger Slytherin. "How come you ran away little mudblood, I'm not finished with you."
Ross pulled out his wand and aimed it at Max. The male laughed and aimed his wand at Ross. "Expelliramus!" Max yelled. Ross gasped as his wand was torn from his hand.
Ross clenched his teeth as more tears threatened to fall from his eyes as Max caught his wand. "Give it back!" Ross yelled at him, slipping on his glasses.
"How about no." Max snapped as he slipped Ross's wand in his pocket. He pointed his wand at the younger male, smirking. Ross started to back up, now defenseless.
"Sectumsempra!" Max yelled, casting the spell with his wand. Ross fell to the floor, pain covering his body. Tears flooded his eyes as he felt his clothes being soaked with blood.
He heard the door bang open and he saw blurry visions of his friends, but he never saw anything else before he blacked out.
~~~○~~~
Ross flickered open his eyes, seeing blurry visions once more. He closed his eyes and started to gain his other senses back. Pain was numb through his body as he felt long gashes along his skin. He opened his eyes and saw Shelby, Jess, Red and Barney.
He smiled at them, all happy that he was awake. "Hey guys... what happened?" Ross asked weakly.
"Umm... well you ran into the bathroom and Max attacked you." Red said. Ross sighed sadly.
"I... I don't like him anymore..." Ross mumbled looking at his lap. His friends looked at each other with worried looks.
"Why did you even like him in the first place?" Shelby asked.
Ross hesitated. "Well, when I first met him he seemed really nice but ever since he got into Slytherin he's been mean. But he's never been this mean.." Ross whimpered.
Tears started to form as he gripped the blanket tightly. He tried to keep his breathing calm, but he didn't succeed. He felt Jess hug him and he hugged back, crying softly in her shoulder.
"Ross, I'm sorry... but we have to go..." Red said softly.
"Okay, you guys go. Please stay safe." He said with a smile.
"Don't worry, we will." Shelby said as they all left the infirmary. Ross then let all the tears he was holding back go, letting out soft whimpers here and there.
~~~○~~~
Soon Ross was free to go, now having permanent scars were the long gashes cut him. He met up with all his friends saying that he was perfectly fine. Only downside was that he had to stay after curfew and learn some new spells. On of the potion teachers gave him back his wand before he left the infirmary.
He soon finished his extra charms class after hours and started walking back to his common room. He roamed the dark empty hallways happily but that was soon interrupted.
"Hey filthy mudblood." He heard a cold voice behind him. Ross didn't even turn around.
"Go away Max, I'm not dealing with you again." Ross said as he continued walking.
"Aww come on you little Hufflepuff. Talk to me, I don't bite." Ross only laughed as he stopped walking.
He turned around, facing Max. "That's like a snake telling a mouse, 'I don't eat meat.'" Max smirked.
"Kinda the same situation now." Ross gulped, relizing he was the mouse. He gulped knowing that he was in trouble.
"What are you doing out this late?" He mumbled, taking a few steps back. Max chuckled.
"I have detention until spring." Ross nodded, understanding why. Silence rang between the two.
"Well I should umm... get going." Ross said as he started walking backwards.
Max nodded, "Right, we wouldn't want our perfect little student in trouble." He mumbled as he turned away from Ross.
Ross wanted to talk about what he meant but he decided to leave it at that. He then turned around and walked back to his bedroom.
~~~○~~~
Christmas break had soon come around and everyone in the school was gone. Ross walked with Red down the hallway. "Everything is so quiet." Red mumbled softly. Ross nodded, fixing his glasses.
The only people that stayed behind were Max, Ross, Red, Jess and Barney. Ross's parents were on a trip in Miami so Ross couldn't come. Barneys parents were dead and his grandma was curently taking care of a relative. Jess wanted to stay by this year just so she could watch her Otps come true.
Red wanted to stay cause his parents had been pretty mad that he had made it into Griffindor, considering they were Ravenclaw.
Ross didn't know why Max stayed, he knew his parents were pureblood and they always seemed like someone was home, considering all the presents he would receive in the mail from his parents.
Red and Ross soon made it out to the lake, which was frozen over from the cold spells that were happening. "You excited for the feast tonight?" Red asked Ross. He nodded, looking over the lake.
Actually, Ross wasn't looking forward to it, he didn't want to be in close vacinity of Max ever again.
But soon dinner time rolled around the Red and Ross walked into the great hall. Only one table was there, considering there were only a few students. Ross walked over and took s seat next to Jess, who was happily sitting there.
He looked across the table, expecting to see Red but he wasn't there. He looked towards the door and he found him standing there talking to Barney. His face was flushed and he seemed to be stammering over every word he spoke.
Ross gasped softly and her pulled out his wand. He swished it and formed a bustle of mistletoe over their heads. Jess whistled and got their attention. She pointed above their heads towards the plant.
They saw Red gasp and bury his face in his hands. Barney only laughed and pulled his hands away. He then swooped in for the kiss, which Red gladly accepted. The ginger wrapped his arms around Barney's neck.
Ross and Jess looked at each other happily, as they walked over to the table, hand in hand. The small male heard a low growl come from the end of the table, he turned his head and saw Max with a scowl on his face. His gaze was clearly on the new found couple.
Ross then shifted his attention on the food that magically appeared on the table. Everyone dug into the feast that was laid before them.
Soon they were onto desert. In the middle of the treat, a teacher came into the hall and said that all the students would have to share and sleep in the Slytherin common room, considering that there was so little of them. Ross sighed, so much for trying to ignore Max.
After desert was done, everyone laughed and talked about whatever came up, except for Adam and Max that is. Soon the new profound couple left the table, saying goodnight to everyone. Then Jess and Shelby left around the same time. Ross left as soon as Shelby disappeared from sight, not wanting to be left alone with Max. He mumbled a goodnight and quickly left the table.
Ross did not head to the common room instead he decided to go to the Astronomy tower. He wanted to be left alone with his feelings and thoughts. His breathing was ragged as he got to the top but the view was worth it. The stars shone brightly against the black sky.
Ross sighed happily as he watched the stars seem to move ever so slightly. He then heard the beating of wings in the distance. Ross looked around until a white owl came into view. He landed on the wall surrounding the edge of the tower. Ross walked over to it and realized that it had a note attached to its leg. He untied it from the bird and opened it. As he read the bird took off.
"I'm sorry...?" Ross read aloud. The small note only had the two simple words written on it in fancy lettering.
"Ross?" He heard a soft gentle voice say behind him. He turned around quickly, not knowing someone else was here. There he saw Max, his eyes filled with regret and sadness. "I'm.. I'm really sorry for what I did... I was just angry at myself." Ross crumpled the note up in his hand, his anger growing.
"So why did you take it out on me?" He asked sharply, turning away from Max slightly. "Why did you have to go and hurt me? Embarrass me?" Max was silent, not sure how to say what he needed to say. "Great now you won't even say anything..." Ross said, crossing his arms. "And to think I had the biggest crush on you." Ross said angrily.
That caught Max off guard. "You, did?" His voice was soft and had a hit of sadness sprinkled in.
"Yeah, ever since we met on the train but ever since you got picked for Slytherin, I've been a main bully target!" Ross snapped at Max. He faced him once more, fire burning in his eyes. "I've just been the little Hufflepuff that you take everything out on!" Ross yelled, tears starting to form as he looked at the ground.
Tears rolled down Ross's cheeks, not even trying to keep them in. He let out a few quiet sobs as more tears flowed. "Don't you see that you've broken me? Don't you care-!!"
Ross was caught off guard at the end of his sentence by Max. He had quickly walked over to Ross and laid a passionate kiss on his lips.
Ross's first instinct was to pull away and slap him but he soon felt his gentle hands on his hips, that's when he melted into his hold. He wrapped his arms around Max's neck.
It felt like forever until they broke away. "C-can you forgive me?" His voice cracked with sadness, trying to keep calm. Ross looked up at him trying to decide. He did hurt him and permanently scar his body, but he does deserve a chance.
"Yes, I'll forgive you." Ross said with a smile as he kissed him once more. He felt Max smile into the kiss, which made him happy.
"The reason I was so mean to you was because my parents would hate me if I loved anyone besides a pureblood. And they would for sure hate me that if I fell in love with you. I tried to convince myself that I didn't but my feelings were too strong." Max said running his hands through his curly brown hair.
"I see." Ross mumbled looking up at Max. They kissed once more before heading down the staircase, hand in hand. Ross rested his head on Max's shoulder as they made it to the common room entrance.
"Pureblood." Max said clearly, making the door swing open. They walked in and headed up to bed, both extreamly tired. They made sure to be extra quiet, so they didn't wake anyone up.
There were two vacant beds, one had yellow sheets while the other black and green. Ross didn't want to leave Max's side but he broke their hold and slipped into bed.
After a few hours of trying to sort out his thoughts, Max felt the blankets move slightly. He turned over and saw Ross, getting into his bed. Max smiled and opened his arms.
Ross smiled and snuggled into Max's chest, loving the warmth. "Good night my little Hufflepuff." Max mumbled before slipping off to sleep.
~~~○~~~
The next morning Max awoke noticing Ross wasn't in bed with him. He looked to his bed and found him laying there with his eyes open. He smiled warmly at the small male, who happily gave back that smile.
Mac then sat up and stretched, but something bright caught his eyes. Presents were piled at the end of his bed. He smiled as hike looked over and saw Ross digging through his presents.
The two decided to wait till everyone was up to start opening them which didn't take long. Everyone was soon opening their presents with glee.
"Miku!!" Ross yelled happily as he pulled out a little plush.
"A what?" Barney asked, really confused. Ross didn't reply, he only hugged the plush tightly.
"It's a muggle thing." Red said to his boyfriend with a smile. Max smiled at the fact that his boyfriend was happy.
Soon the presents were done and all of them went to breakfast in their pajamas. Red and Barney were holding hands on their way down to the great hall.
"Should we tell them?" Ross whispered to Max, as they slipped out from the common room.
"I think we should act like we would but not directly tell them." Max whispered back. Ross nodded and slipped his hand into Max's. The ginger smiled and squeezed his hand slightly.
They ate breakfast, and with it being break the two just headed back to the common room and snuggled up on one of the couches all day long.
~~~○~~~
Soon break was over and classes had started up again. Red and Ross walked to potions class, talking about whatever came to their mind. They walked up to the door, waiting for the teacher to get there. Suddenly Ross was pushed forward, making him drop his potion books in his hands.
Ross reached down to pick them up before be heard Red yelling at someone. The younger male looked up and was surprised to see Red yelling at Max.
"Why did you always pick on him! He hasn't done anything to you!" Red yelled at Max. Max didn't say anything to him, he only backed up from him.
"Red!" Ross said as he grabbed the ginger by the shoulder.
"No, Ross you don't understand. For once I'm standing up for you! After what he did to you, he shouldn't even look in your direction!" Red said angrily as he tore away from Ross's hold.
"Red! Listen!" Ross yelled at him. Red shut up, finally listening to Ross. He sighed, glad that he got his attention. "Me and Max are..." Ross broke off and walked over to his ginger. He placed a kiss on his cheek and slid his hand in his own.
"We're dating." Ross said softly. Red was silent. He opened his mouth a few times, only to close it once more.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled and took a few steps away from Max.
Max laughed softly. "It's fine, I understand. My past actions weren't the best but I'm trying to change." He said as he placed a kiss on Ross's forehead.
~~~○~~~
Soon summer rolled around and everyone had to leave school for the summer. Max sighed as he wrapped his arm around Ross as the train started to move.
"I'm gonna miss the castle." Shelby said as she looked out the window longingly.
"Yeah, me too." Ross said as he ran his fingers over the smooth fur of his cat, KP, who was resting in his lap.
"I'm gonna miss you mostly." Ross mumbled as he snuggled into Max neck. Max chuckled as he held him close.
"Get a room you two." Red said with a laugh as him and Barney entered the small room.
Ross laughed loudly "Says the guy who I found making out with his boyfriend before the train came by." Red blushed darkly as he sat down in the seat across from Ross.
All of them just talked and laughed, trying to savor every moment they had together. But alas the train eventually came to a stop and everyone started to get off.
Ross clung to Max's arm, not wanting to leave him. "Please dont go.." Ross whispered as they got off.
"Don't worry, I'll send you letters over summer." Max said as he ruffled Ross's hair.
"You promise?" Ross mumbled softly.
"I promise my little Hufflepuff." Max replied as he kissed his forehead.
