Menma Namikaze x Rein Senju

"Tsunarein...Tsunarein!"

"Huh? Oh...sorry Madara Sensei..." Rein was zoned out during her training...as she has been for the past week. Madara and Obito looked at her in concern, the obliviousness not a usual trait for the Senju princess. Her eyes were dark and her skin was pale, as if she lost the sunlight that lit up her world.

"Are you alright Rein? You don't look great." Obito said. Rein merely shrugged weakly, looking at her sandal clad feet. Madara had an idea what was bothering her...and he needed to fix this issue quickly.

"It's that nine tails boy isn't it?" Madara stated. Rein didn't even look up but the tears that welled up in her eyes revealed the broken heart she hid. Her depression was eating her alive, her loneliness only making it worse. If Madara didn't want to lose her then he had to come up with a plan to help her...and soon.

"Tsunarein come sit with me." Madara instructed. The girl sat with Madara on a patch of soft grass, the elder man instructing for her to lay her head on his lap. Madara found it calming to stroke her soft curly hair, the Uchiha so starved for affection his whole life. Obito sat across from them, watching Rein with a concerned glance. He felt the way she was feeling after Rin died...except she wasn't angry like he was. She was just...hopeless...like a dark bottomless pit of nothing.

"Remember your purpose Tsunarein...we are achieving a world for both you and the boy...remember why you are here."

"I know...I...just lost my will anymore." Her voice raspy as if she was about to sob. Obito hated seeing her this way because it was like a reflection of his inner self. If Obito was more expressive then this is how he would be too. Madara knew this was his fault considering he took her away from Naruto...but he couldn't afford to lose her when they were so close to their goal. He decided perhaps she could have the love she desired...at least temporarily, and not lose custody to the Hidden Leaf.

"Look in my eyes Tsunarein." The blue-green eyed girl looked up to be met with a beautiful scarlet iris, the black in the eye swirling. Her body immediately relaxed as she finally entered a world to get rid of the darkness that had settled in her heart.

~~

She woke in a bed, but not just any bed...the one she slept in when she still lived with Sasuke and Itachi. She felt like she was having heavy flashbacks, memories of waking up excitedly to play with Sasuke filled her mind. Suddenly a smell hit her that she hasn't smelled in years.

"Mikoto's secret pancake recipe...is someone making it?" Rein gasped as she quickly sat up in her bed, throwing off the plush comforter. She stood up and was about to walk in the hallway when she realized that she was dressed in little to no clothing.

"Wherever I am...I better find some clothes." Rein opened the double doors to her old closet, finding a silk robe with the Uchiha symbol on the back that went to her knees.  That was the first thing she saw and so that was the first thing she wore. She tied the sash quickly before basically running down the stairs of the old home she lived in. Her heart was pounding in her chest...what was going on? Why was she here and how come she can't remember how she got there?

Rein came down the stairs and nearly collided with a tall man who caught her just in time, offering a mocking smile.

"Easy Rein...you nearly toppled me!" She looked up only to be met with a familiar warm onyx gaze. The man pat the top of Rein's head before grabbing the daily paper by the door and walking towards the kitchen. Rein was petrified, stuck in place after seeing the man she hasn't met since she was eight years old.

"F-father Fugaku..." She barely voiced out. She slowly moved to the kitchen, watching as Fugaku sat with the paper open at the head of the table, Itachi next to him and a teenage Sasuke next to Itachi. The two seats across from the younger boys were empty...the spot Rein and Mikoto used to sit. The air was caught in Rein's throat...was she thrown back in time again? If so then why was Sasuke and Itachi older? Nothing made sense but she knew that this was her opportunity to tell Mikoto and Fugaku words she never got to say.

"Goodmorning Sis!" Sasuke stated warmly with a smile. Itachi gave her the same look.

"Goodmorning Rein." Itachi said. A soft voice grabbed Rein's attention from the siblings, causing her to turn towards the stove where the woman she had longed to see for years stood.

"Oh Rein you're finally up! Lady Hokage wished to see you! I put your mission details on your spot." Rein wanted to move to hug Mikoto but stopped herself.

"T-thank you..." She spoke softly. Mikoto gave her a closed eye smile before placing her world famous pancakes on a large plate. She turned off the stove and placed the serving plate on the table.

"Alright everyone, dig in. A good breakfast is important for the start of a good day!" Mikoto always used to say to them something encouraging at the start of each day in order to motivate her kids to do their best. Fugaku put down his paper and waited until everyone was served before taking his portion. He wanted to make sure his kids and wife always had enough to eat before him.

Rein was too busy taking in her surroundings to eat, however she stuffed her face when she stopped restraining herself. Slow and steady tears streamed down her cheeks as she bit into the delicious pancakes, something about them much better than anyone else's recipe. Itachi was the first to notice her state.

"Rein...are you alright? Why are you crying?" Everyone looked up to see what was wrong with Rein, especially Mikoto who sat next to her.

"It's...been so long..." Rein whispered to herself. Mikoto raised an eyebrow at her behavior.

"Rein we had pancakes last week." Fugaku placed his large and rough hand on Rein's shoulder.

"Are you upset because of Menma?"

"Darling! Don't bring that up! You'll upset her even more!"

"Menma?" Rein whispered confused, wiping her face until she was dry of tears.

"Hey Mom, Dad's probably right. The daughter of the great Madara Uchiha never cries unless it has to do with Menma leaving." Sasuke stated boldly.

"Sasuke!" Itachi and Mikoto both scolded. Rein paused. Madara Uchiha...her father?! Something wasn't right here. She didn't have time to question it though because she was just overwhelmed with happiness that she was able to eat breakfast with her family again...even if it wasn't her birth family.

"I'm happy." Rein admitted. Everyone was confused but she grinned nevertheless with salt stain streaks on her cheeks.

"I'm happy because all of you are here."

"Um...Rein did you hit your head last night?" Itachi raised an eyebrow at her, Sasuke whispering in his ear.

"Maybe Menma leaving really made her crazy." Mikoto placed a hand on the girl's shoulder and whispered in her ear.

"Do I need to get you pads or tampons? You seem to be PMSing dear..." Mikoto whispered. Rein chuckled, turning to pull Mikoto in a hug.

"I just love you all so much. I've just been thinking about what my life would be like if I didn't have you guys and I just...Thanks for being the best family a girl could have." Fugaku couldn't hide the soft smile on his face...a rare moment outside the Uchiha household.

"Rein...you have always been and always will be family. When we welcomed you into our home, it felt the same as when Sasuke and Itachi were born. I'm glad you are such a good child. You make us proud." It was the first time in Rein's life she ever heard such a heartwarming compliment from the father of her two Uchiha brothers. After years of feeling lost and lonely...years of feeling like she was invisible or worthless...it just took a few words from a man that adopted her when she was five years old to make her feel valuable again.

~~

Rein showered and dressed, deciding to make the most of her time in the past...or was it the present? Was she stuck in an alternate world? She stepped out of the shower and tried to use her jutsu to make an extra soft towel, better than the usual cotton, but nothing happened. Rein raised an eyebrow before trying again with handsigns...still nothing.

"What happened to my wood style? Am I too weak?" Rein closed her eyes and tried activating her Hundred Strength seal to give her extra power but the only thing that happened was the power surging in her eyes. She opened them back up only to see the world in black and white with the most bright and beautiful colors of chakra she's ever seen before.

"What...the hell..?" Rein walked to the mirror and felt petrified, unsure if what she saw was real.

"AHHH!!!" She screamed in terror at her appearance. A response was near instant, Mikoto banging on the bathroom door. Living in a house full of ninjas had its perks.

"Rein are you okay?! What's wrong?!" Mikoto's voice rang out from the other side.

"M-my eyes!! I have Madara's eyes!?!" Mikoto sighed from the other side of the door.

"Oh thank god that's what you're screaming about? I thought something bad happened. Hurry up and read what the Hokage sent for you! You're supposed to meet her soon." Mikoto lectured. Rein couldn't stop staring at her eyes, the same eternal mangekyo sharingan Madara had...what the hell was going on? It was almost like she was...

"Madara's daughter...an Uchiha..." Rein gasped in realization. In this world...or whatever was going on...she was never Hashirama's daughter but Madara's instead. Meaning that she no longer had her sacred wood style jutsu but all the bells and whistles of an Uchiha...the world's strongest Uchiha that is. Rein tried to deactivate her eyes by closing them and forcing the chakra to recede.  She looked back in the mirror to see that her eyes were still the same color...her hair the same color...however it was much straighter, almost pin straight.

"This is...crazy..." Rein whispered to herself, activating and deactivating her eyes over and over again...fascinated by her new kekkei genkai. Rein quickly got dressed into a black fighting kimono and spandex shorts, the Uchiha symbol on the back. With her newly discovered straight hair, it made putting it up cutely much easier. She quickly got ready and ran down the steps, eager to discover her new abilities. She grabbed the envelope Mikoto set aside for her and quickly read it while on her way to see the Hokage.

Mission Briefing:

S Rank Mission

Find and Recover Menma Namikaze

"Who the hell is Menma? Why does everyone-" Then Rein saw his picture and her jaw nearly dropped.

"N-Naruto..." She whispered out of breath. The boy in the picture was beautiful...and looked identical to Naruto minus the hair length and color. He had a similar style to the Fourth Hokage and it was jet black, making his cerulean eyes positively glow.

"This...is Menma? He looks just like Naruto?" Rein went to the Hokage, clutching the picture in her hand and feeling her heart race. This man may be named Menma but Rein knew that he must be the Naruto in this world...and she needed to find him desperately. She entered the Hokage's room to see two Jonin standing in front of Tsunade, a blond man and a red headed woman.

"Rein you finally came. Let's get down to business shall we?" I stood next to the two jonin, the woman giving me a sad smile while holding the blond haired man's hand.

"Rein...we finally got a lead on him. They think they found Menma near the village. Our boy can finally come home." The woman spoke. Rein's blue green eyes widened in realization that these two must have been Naruto's parents.

"That's right. The Black Nine-tails did all this and corrupted his heart...hopefully his love for you will bring him back to us." The man said. Rein blushed heavily before feeling a warmth fill her heart. Even in a different world, her and Naruto's love pushed boundaries of possibilities. Even if she was an Uchiha and he had hair like one...they were still meant for each other.

"I'm putting you three jonin on a squad to search the neighboring temples where intel has said he was spotted at. If anyone could bring him home, it'd be you three. Rein, your sharingan will be what you guys depend on most if the Black Nine-tails breaks loose. Without a real seal to keep it away, Menma is so easily corrupted by it. Please be safe. We are all counting on you. Rein Uchiha, Minato Namikaze, and Kushina Uzumaki...I'm assigning you on an S Rank mission to return Menma Namikaze to the Leaf."

~~

"Let's settle for the night...who wants to keep watch?" Kushina stated with a sigh, sitting by a campfire the couple recently put up.

"I'll keep watch. You two have enough stress as it is." Rein offered. Minato gave a thankful smile while wrapping an arm around his worried wife.

"Thanks Rein...I'm glad Menma picked a girl like you." Rein blushed lightly before smiling back.

"I'll bring him home alright? Don't worry." Throughout their day of traveling and searching, they found nothing. Rein however spent the time getting to know Naruto's parents...even if they called their son Menma instead. An hour passed by and Rein felt bored. She wanted to see what her abilities were in this world and decided to stretch the limitations of her sharingan. She left a clone and walked a little bit away until she was inside the temple the team stayed in front. The temple had a high ceiling and was empty, perfect to practice whatever ability she had without dragging too much attention. Rein closed her eyes and opened them again to see the world in black and white with beautiful chakra colors. She could see the flow of life in the plants that hijacked the temple walls, the small rodents that made homes in the ceiling. It was beautiful.

"Let's see if Madara's powers will channel through me...if I'm really his daughter here that is." Blue glowing ribs slowly appeared to guard her, absolutely beautiful in appearance. Rein has been a nature goddess her whole life as a Senju...but being an Uchiha was so different...the raw talent they had with just their blood line was amazing! The susanoo was forming, her energy and power coming out in waves...her straight chocolate hair flying upwards...

At least until she heard a voice.

"As beautiful as the day I left...looking for someone Rein?" The raspy voice was laced with something different...something a little darker. The susanoo was immediately dispelled, tingles breaking out across her body at the rough voice of the boy she loved...even if Naruto wasn't his name here.

"Menma." She breathed out. Warm hands wrapped dangerously low around her waist, hot lips at her ear. His body was pressed tightly and hotly to Rein, making her emit a low hum from the base of her throat. Naruto never touched her this way...but Menma was basically him right?

"Hello babe...missed me? I sure as hell missed you..." Sharp canine teeth grazed Rein's neck and she couldn't do anything but submit to his touch. This dark version of Naruto...it awakened something deep within her...the darkness that was there because of Madara suddenly didn't feel so wrong.

"Y-yeah..." Rein felt like jello, her skin feeling like fire...this sensation unlike anything she ever felt before. Menma was the dark side of Naruto that Rein never really got to know...and after all of the actions she felt so guilty about with the Akatsuki and Madara, to know that the dark side of Naruto loved her just the same was so freeing. Perhaps this version of him would understand her better...and realize just who she really is aside from the innocent girl everyone thought she was. Menma's hands began to wander around Rein's curves, making the girl practically melt in his arms.

"You should come home...I know Minato and Kushina miss you..." Menma spun her around, his torso shirtless aside from the black fingerless gloves that tightly fit up his mid bicep. His cerulean eyes were so bright compared to his shaggy jet black hair, a spiky smile lighting his features.

"Oh come on babe... I'm too dark to be in the village...I'm too dark for you and yet...here you are." His abdominal muscles were completely ripped and evident, his body making Rein's mind turn to mush. She was seventeen so experiencing dirty thoughts was not so rare...however a temple was not the place to lay with Naruto's other half. Menma seemed to have other ideas though because he ravished Rein's lips with his own. His appearance, his voice, his presence, him in general just drove Rein's womanly instincts wild. Menma was the rough side of Naruto that she needed...a less breakable version that just might understand her.

"I'm dark too. You aren't the only one with darkness in your heart." Rein roughly whispered while she struggled for air after Menma's passion filled kiss. He moved to her neck yet again, his favorite spot to nip and suck. Her fingers were tingled in his messy hair, her losing her train of thought. Perhaps this was her moment to say what she would tell Naruto...considering Menma was basically him right?

"I've killed...I've robbed...I've lied...I've betrayed...and yet you're the one who thinks you're dark? Menma...you will never be evil in my eyes. You're you." Menma lightly pulled away, his expression different. He looked worried for a moment before stepping backwards, emotionless.

"So what? Who cares what you've done wrong. But honestly Rein...how could you say I don't have evil in me when I have this living inside of me! I don't deserve the village! I don't deserve your love! I'm a ticking time bomb! Just watch!" Black chakra seeped out of his skin, taking form of the nine tailed fox. Rein watched in surprise as how fluently and effortlessly he accessed the tailed beast chakra. It rose above him like a powerful shadow, over coming Menma. His eyes turned scarlet and his whiskers were feral. He looked like a beautiful nightmare, death in disguise of an angel.

But Rein wasn't going to give up on Menma when he needed her most.

"You're wrong Menma! You are a human being that deserves love just as much as everyone else! You are more than how you feel and you are more than a jinchuriki. You're Menma Namikaze! A human being that is so strong and passionate! Your faults and your mistakes make you you Menma and that's the person I love! You can't scare me away." Rein was speaking to Menma...yet she was speaking to Naruto and herself as well. She knew that Menma needed love because the only thing that can drive out hate is love...and Rein had plenty of it for him.

"But I lost control Rein...and you can get hurt around me. I can't put you in danger like that. The evil inside of me can't be stopped." Rein closed her eyes, opening them to reveal the fully developed sharingan. She looked into Menma's eyes with a soft smile on her face. She wasn't scared...she wasn't worried...she was eager to feel his embrace again. Menma tried stepping backwards.

"Stay away Rein...I can't control it anymore. I don't want to hurt you!" Rein kept walking forward with a light expression.

"You won't." The chakra was being manipulated by the sharingan, forcing it back inside of Menma to be locked up tight. As long as Rein had the sharingan, she could control the nine tails with a mere look. She was the only thing that could possibly keep Menma's darkness under control... just like how Naruto kept Rein afloat.

"Rein...stop!" Menma was pressed against the wall now, his chakra still intensely powerful. Rein held no fear on her face and Menma watched as she approached him like an angel of darkness. She was the only one who wasn't afraid of him and accepted him for who he is. He did the same for her. That's what made his love for her so intense and powerful...and that's why he ran in the first place. He never wanted to hurt her if he lost control.

"Menma...as long as I'm here, you will never have to worry again. I'm your perfect match...your seal. You have me Menma and you always will." Rein embraced Menma tightly, his chakra immediately dissipating. The black began leaving his hair and the darkness seem to fade away when Rein put all of her love, all of her heart into her embrace. She closed her eyes and put her sharingan away.

"I love you." Naruto. She added in her mind. Menma was frozen for half a moment before hugging Rein back. Menma looked at his woman that had so much love for him that she purified the darkness and the evil that was haunting him for so long. She purified the menacing weight on his shoulders and lifted the fear he felt that he would lose control at any minute. He knew Rein could reel him in...that Rein was made for him. Menma lifted the bottom of Rein's chin and kissed her even more passionately, his blond shaggy hair framing his handsome face.

"I love you so much Rein." Rein felt so secure with herself, the empty feeling in her chest completely full and her heart beating again. Across worlds and planes of existence, Naruto and Rein's love would always find each other...no matter what.

No matter the darkness that filled Menma's heart, he knew that Rein would never hold it against him or judge him...and she would always find a way to make him happy. But more importantly, Rein finally came to terms with herself. She realized that Menma understood her and didn't care about her past. That this was still Naruto...just with a different name...the heart was still the same. Perhaps Rein had hope after all...

...because their love for each other has accomplished the impossible: causing them to accept themselves.
