Many May #9 The Wedding Ring. (Formally known as Speakeasy CRACK)
Doc watched as the clock counted the minutes until he could leave. He couldn't wait to leave this little speakeasy and go home to meet his darling policeman. He couldn't wait for Iskall to smell the booze on his clothes and then laugh as he hugged him with a smile.
He didn't know how he managed to find his boy but he didn't mind, the ring on his finger told him enough. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a cop enter in. Doc couldn't breathe until he recognized the cop. Wels. Off of work and just stopping in before closing time.
Iskall had to be getting off at the moment and he smiled as he thought of him. "So how's the game going?" Doc asked kindly.
Wels just laughed. "Baseball ain't too good right now. Always losing."
Doc laughed. "I'm sure you'll get lucky soon."
"You will too. Find a good girl and settle down." Wels said as he took a drink.
"I'm waiting until I find the love, the one that's going to last," Doc said as he smirked.
"I expect that with a guy like you. Too smokin' hot to settle down."
Doc nodded with a laugh. "You too unless you're hitched."
"I'm not. Not yet, probably never." Wels laughed.
"No harm in that at all you know what you want. I like that in a man." Doc smiled and Wels looked at him shocked.
"What about that ring?" Wels asked harshly,
"It's to keep the chicks off me. They like the accent a little too much." Doc expertly lied the destination of the conversation surely known.
Wels moved up to him quickly and he made sure only Doc could hear him.
"Where's the harm to hurry on with a man?" Wels asked expertly.
"I'm not queer." Doc said with a smile.
Wels frowned and walked off.
Doc shivered. He trusted Wels but not that much. After all, all crimes are not equal.
He was lucky enough to be with one man without being caught.
He served Wels a drink as he looked at a girl who looked at his ring with envy.
"I'm sorry to stare sir I just can't get hitched and everyone around me is." "It's not fair." She frowned as she ordered a bottle of bathtub gin and Doc gave it to her with a frown. He wished he could console her but he let the silence linger.
"Only once may lightning strike as the way will surely lead to very worse of destinies," Joe said to her as he walked by.
False scoffed. "If it ever does."
Doc smiled. "Sometimes it's for the better, it doesn't. Doc smiled at her and smiled.
"What do you mean?" She asked
"You are not meant for the housewife role. Anyone could see it. Quite frankly that's not queer nor an issue." Doc said as he served her.
"Your wife must love you."
"He does." He then froze and cussed.
False laughed. "Knew it."
"You do." He said with a smile.
He saw Wels stumbling and he smiled.
"This roll of dice from above is set by gods by the turn of luck." He spat.
"Oh did you want him drunk?" She jeered.
"Yes, he asked me if I was queer and I said no. So now that he's drunk I'm off the hook." Doc said firmly.
"They must know the turn of the trick." She smiled.
"They do indeed. Now to get him out of here." Doc said with a blank face.
"Oh don't worry I can take him home. My house is just down the road." She said absentmindedly.
Doc laughed. "Of course, it is."
False smiled at someone walking in as she left with Wels and Doc paid no attention to him. He just assumed she had called a friend to drag Wels to her home but instead he reached across the bar for Doc's hand.
Doc looked at him and smiled. "Hey, Iskall."
"Hey, doll. We need no introduction." Iskall said effortlessly.
Doc's heart flipped and the jazz singer started yelling.
"Everyone! The chime announces closing time!"
Doc smiled and Iskall frowned as Doc's heart flipped.
Iskall blushed before kissing him quickly. "I truly hope I won't have to arrest you someday," Iskall said as he hugged him.
"Me neither," Doc said holding his hand as they both walked out.
