Legos
A/N. The link to the article I got his idea from will be in the comments after the story, if you want to look at it.
I wake up to voices in the living room. When I finally get up and make my way towards them I see my husband on the ground playing with our adoptive five-year-old, Siena.
"I take it she woke early this morning?"
"Yeah she had a bad dream and couldn't go back to sleep. You didn't wake up and I didn't want to bother you. So I got up with her. I go over to them and sit down.
"Hey sweetie, what's this here?" I pick up the... uh lego construction in front of me. She glances over at it an laughs shaking he head at me. I frown when I hear a huff coming from my other side, I turn to him confused.
"What?"
"I don't know why you think she built that. Can't you tell it's a masterpiece?"
"Oh, um sorry?" He crosses his arms over his chest pouting. Siena is next to us still laughing at our antics. We were lucky to get a sweet kid who took to us right away.
"I was making it for you."
"Not that I don't appreciate it babe, but you're no Picasso." He pouts even more and grumbles.
"Not trying to be Picasso, just Nathan Sawaya." I'm not exactly sure who he's referring to so I just let the comment pass.
"So what are you trying to build me anyway?" He looks away sheepishly. Awe.
"A castle." I laugh and stand up.
"Sorry, but but you'll need a lot more legos and a lot more skill for that. Why don't you just stick to being a lawyer." I bend down and kiss him, then turn and grab Siena' s hand.
"Now baby, are you hungry? Let's leave your mommy in here to sulk and fix ourselves some breakfast."
I walk off laughing at his shouted indignation at being referred to as mommy. We both know I'm the women here. Siena just laughs again. Knowing by now that she has no mommy, just two crazy dads.
