The Last Journey to the Underworld

"Seaweed brain, what have you done now?" Annabeth would say. She said that every time he did something, messed up or completed. She would ruffle his hair.
"Nothing!" Percy would say. He would joke around with the rest of them and kiss Annabeth to sleep every night.

"Repair boy, stop calling me Sunshine!" Calypso would say, putting her hands on her hips.
"Never, Sunshine." Leo would say before getting up and kissing Calypso.

"I can't imagine. Reyna, I can't believe she..." Hazel held hands with Frank as they sat on the cliff.
"It's okay. She could never be truly happy here. She was destined to never be loved. She will be alright with them." Frank would reassure. He kissed Hazel's hand gently. "But you're here, and that's better than anyone else. Even Percy couldn't be better than you if he was Praetor again."

"All those memories." Piper would say. "They were all fake, but they felt so real."
"Because now they are." Jason would smile. He would have Piper curl up beside him on the cabin rooftop, ignoring the patrol harpies.

All those memories were with them as they journeyed to the underworld, their last adventure together before they departed for the dead.

"It's time, my love." Leo was taller, older. His hair was graying and his chun was riddled with stubble. He didn't bother shaving because he knew he would leave the living that day.
"Yes. I hope to see you in the underworld soon, Repair boy." Calypso's smile wrinkled her once ageless face. They held hands as they followed Thanatos to the underworld, leaving their bodies behind.
The two bodies held hands as they died and the souls left their bodies.

"If I die, I die protecting you." Percy said as he fought off another wave of monsters. Annabeth's ankle was sprained so she lay helpless on the ground. "Don't. It's better to leave me."
"Never." Percy said, stabbing a cyclops in the heart.
"Then I will fight with you." Annabeth struggled to get up. She pulled out her knife and waved at the monsters. "Back off!"
But it was useless. Before long, the two were overwhelmed. "Go! Annabeth, leave me here! I'll handle this! I promise to see you on-" Percy's shout was cut off as a hellhound ripped off his head with its drooling jaws.
"Percy!" Annabeth screamed, reaching for him helpless.
"Why, how lucky am I?" A familiar voice said. "Just the girl I was looking for. Annabeth Chase."
She turned around and saw a familiar empousa. Kelli.
Kelli but her shoulder, holding her back as the other monsters attacked.
A violent end for the two demigods.

"You can not control the air. Only I can." The primordial, Aether said, pushing Jason down.
Jason held Piper in his arms, but he was quickly gaining momentum as he fell down, useless in his father's territory.
"You have made a grave mistake to awake me from my slumber." Aether's voice echoed throughout the world, carried by his airwaves.
"Piper, use the charm!" Jason shouted.
The charm. The charm they all worked so hard for. The charm Percy and Annabeth died for as they blocked off the monsters in the temple of Zeus. It could only teleport one person, that was the problem. They all relied so heavily into the fact that Jason would be able to float down. Not anymore.
"I'm not leaving you!" Piper said, hugging Jason tighter. The charm around her neck glowed.
"Send Piper to Camp Half Blood!" Jason shouted, his final efforts before he would soon become a pancake on the ground.
The voice command worked, and sent Piper back. But it was useless. What they didn't know was that the evil spirit was now inside the charm, causing both of them to fall from the same elevation, but separated.
In a few seconds, both would become tiny blood marks on the ground. Leo, Hazel, Frank, and Calypso could not save them.

Evil magic swarmed Hazel and Frank, suffocating them with dark mist. Hecate was chained against the wall, bound and gagged. She could not conjure even an ounce of magic to save her pupil and demigod.
"Ave!" Frank and Hazel cried at the same time, hailing each other. "See you in the underworld."
Frank and Hazel's faces turned blue, purple, and finally an ashen gray. They were dead that their last two teammates were still above, trying to convince Aether to calm down.

Words were exchanged during the funeral. It was typical for a demigod to die on a quest, but three fourths? That was unimaginable.
Leo and Calypso did not come out, comforting each other that night. Nothing would be the same ever again.
