Alternate Universes (Universes 1,2,3)
Percy gulped as he looked down the hole the girl just jumped into.
"Alright! Who's next!" The person called.
"I'll go." A blonde boy with a thin scar on his lip volunteered. He jumped in, quickly wrapped up in darkness. Percy went forward and glanced down at the empty hole.
"Ya wanna go, boy?" The person put their hands on their hips.
Percy nodded. He put one foot forward and let gravity work itself.
— O —
"Yo, Jason!" Leo waved around his fork and gulped down his egg and bacon. "You wanna go to Poseidon's Fishery?"
"Sure, I have to give something to Percy." Jason hung up his apron.
Leo, Jason, Percy, and Frank all pooled in money to buy a four bedroom house for them all to board in.
Frank was at the city football meeting, working to get to national level. Percy worked as the manager for Poseidon's Fishery in the entire city. Jason was the pilot for Olympus Airlines. And Leo and his girlfriend, Calypso, made a car and vehicle garage they always dreamed of.
They all worked in Miami-Dade, second only to NYC when they wanted to move away from the California coastline.
"What is it?" Leo got down from the counter chair. He started trailing Jason who was trying to get something from his room like a fly. "Whatisitwhatisitwhatisitwhatisit?"
"Just a little charm Thalia gave me with my birthday gift to give to Percy on his own birthday." Jason replied. Thalia frequently traveled around to compete in tournaments with her team, who were all female, and had almost no time to visit Miami.
"Oooooohhhhhhh." Leo still trailed behind. "Sooooo, when are we leaving?"
"What the f**k are you talking about man? You're the one who wanted to go right now. We could've just waited for his party." Jason said from his desk drawer.
"Well, I wanted to see what would happen if you worked for Poseidon." Leo pulled out a few gears and knickknacks and made a fish that could open and close its mouth.
"You can just ask Perce." Jason got out a square box wrapped in baby blue wrapping paper. "Or you can ask Annabeth, she's dating him."
"But I wanna see it myself." Leo whined.
"Fine. Get yourself some clean clothes." Jason looked at his friend sternly.
"Okay!"
— - —
"Leo, stop horsing around with the horse." Jason groaned. It had only been about half an hour and Leo was already out of control.
"Wha? No, I'm not leaving you, Barry!" Leo grinned wickedly.
"Actually, Repair Boy, his name is Arion and his eyes and body language show the equivalent of 'F**k off, human being.'" Percy said behind them. He had googles and a mottled color-of-the-sea fishing trousers on and was wiping his gloves on the sides of the trousers.
"You wouldn't say that, right Barry?" Leo leaned in closer. Arion promptly whacked Leo in the forehead with a well-aimed kick.
"Welcome to the business, little guy." Percy welcomed. Typically, an intern would get whacked on their first day by Arion, who was in a small stable that he agreed to stay in. The manager, Percy, would not say anything until the intern got so worried that they would ask if they were fired or not. It would usually get a good laugh from the friends among the fishermen.
Leo stumbled, half offended but he still laughed. "Dang, that's one hard horseshoe you got there!"
"I know right? When the big man decided to buy the horse-that-needs-10-bars-of-soap, he requested the most durable horseshoe the craftsmith had." Percy chuckled.
Jason whistled. "That must've been pricey, man."
"Like your plane you fly every day?" Percy nudged. Jason owned his plane that he flew for the company. It was a gift from his father to celebrate the passing of Jason's twentieth birthday.
"Not as much."
"Hate to break it to you, but our girlfriends are here. And so is Frank and Hazel." Leo piped in. He pointed to the group of people, mostly girls, staring at them from the entrance.
Jason and Percy quickly got to their girlfriends before they got in trouble.
"Perseus Jackson. How dare you not greet me." Annabeth scolded. She grabbed Percy's ear and dragged him off to the front office.
"Hey Pipes." Jason greeted his own. "How are you doing?"
"Great, but it would be better if my boyfriend would call me to tell that he was going to be at the Fishery." Piper waved her phone in front of Jason's face. He went crosseyed trying to read the words on the phone.
"Frank! M' dude!" Leo expected Frank to talk back. "No response? Okay!"
Calypso coughed loudly. "I hope you had enough time with Frank, Leo."
All of the boys, excluding Frank, were in big trouble from their girlfriends.
— O —
If you can't tell, it's Warrior Cats AU
"Hey Percy." Jason jumped down from the fence into Percy's backyard.
"What?" Percy was trying to scratch his neck.
"Did you hear? The wild cats are roaming again. This time, some even reached the neighborhood!" Jason exclaimed.
"So? My housefolk keep me safe from those cats."
"I want to meet them!" Jason was pawing with excitement. "I want to see what they're doing!"
"Hmm." Percy pondered for a second. "Let's go!"
The two jumped onto the fence of Percy's backyard and dropped into the forest. The two were small, even to the bushes.
"Well well well. What do we have here? Two little kitties roaming around the fierce and scary forest?" A ginger-pelted she-cat blocked their way when they tried to get under a bush.
"No." Percy puffed out his chest. "We're exploring." He emphasized the explore, to show that he wasn't afraid.
"What should I do now?" The she-cat wondered. "Maybe eat the flesh off your bones?"
Suddenly the huge cat seemed even bigger.
"No. I know you don't do that! I've been told that you don't even fulfill your rules!" Jason stepped up, his sandy-colored pelt bristling with anger. "So how would you eat one of your own kind? I bet you don't eat your kits."
"Smart one there." Another cat came into veil from behind a tree. It was a white-furred tom, a tall yet nimble build. "But what are you doing inside our borders, Gingerpelt? I'm sure your leader would love an explanation of how you got into Thunderclan borders."
"Whatever." Gingerpelt snapped. "I found these little pesky kits here anyway. You should be grateful I didn't just let them ruin your chances of prey, Arrowstar."
"They didn't ruin anything." Arrowstar have the two kittens a warm smile. "Now please get off our territory before we have to escort you back to Riverclan." He have a harsher smile to Gingerpelt.
She quickly went away, disappearing between the folds of the forest.
"Now, little kits, what are you doing in a wild cat's territory?" Arrowstar meowed. "I'm sur your twolegs are searching for you right now."
"We want to explore." Percy blurted, earning a kick from Jason.
"Shut up! Do you want to get mauled? Have you heard about Sage and the wild cats that killed him?" Jason hissed.
"Oh, Sagepaw? He is a wonderful addition to our clan." Arrowstar said, getting closer. "Now, would either of you'd like to join our clan?"
"Should we, Jason?" Percy looked to Jason for a word.
"Fine. I'm the one who wanted to do this anyway." Jason replied, walking to Arrowstar.
—
Jason was now Lightningpaw, his light sandy pelt shining like white yellow in the sun. Percy was Riverpaw, a seamless glider on the floor.
"This is why Arrowstar should've never let you two in! You're just disappointments!" Riverpaw's mentor, Jumpfoot, sneered.
"Hey, Jumpfoot, go easy. They're just like you when you were their age." Kitewing meowed. The elder still looked like he was in his prime, his white pelt was still gleaming like the river and his eyes bright. The only telltale sign of age was his white and gray whiskers. He purred, walking up to Lightningpaw. "You know, there once was a troublesome kit that turned into an apprentice, and someone had the misfortune to mentor her."
"Kitewing, please stop." Jumpfoot pleaded. It was embarrassing enough for an elder to have more agility than you, but for embarrassing stories from apprenticehood? That was the worst.
"Well, I'll say something about my little hypocrite. Go easy on them, I've seen them hunt just as well as you do. Their combat skills are even better." Kitewing flicked his ear. "Now, if you don't mind, I must go back to warm my pelt."
Lightningpaw and Riverpaw's eyes widened in awe of the elder.
"That."
"Was."
"Awesome!"
Jumpfoot grumbled something about hunting and told the two apprentices to head back.
—
"Lightningstrike! Riverdrift! Lightningstrike! Riverdrift!" The clan cheered as they honored their brand new warriors.
Lightningstrike had gone a long way from the little kitten he once was. He now stood tall and proud, his massive frame larger than the leader's. Riverdrift proved to be a great warrior with his hunting and fighting, evolving from a tiny kit who was only interested in scratching the ticks from his pelt to a warrior that was feared by the other clans.
Lightningstrike stood proud, looking down at the rest of the clan from Highrock(ledge or rock?) Riverdrift also stood proud, but was in the background of Lightningstrike.
"Congratulations, brother." Riverdrift nodded to his brother, eyes shining.
"You two... brother." Lightningstrike said. Back when they were kits, they never acknowledged each other as brothers because they had been separated from each other for a while and got back together again. But now, with their training behind them, they could be free of the wooden restraints.
"Now you can't wait for Featherpaw to join us, right?" Riverdrift teased Lightningstrike. "I know that you've had a crush on her since she became an apprentice."
"What about you, brother? I know you've fallen for Owleyes." He teased back, prodding Riverdrift.
"Whatever, mouse brain. Let's just enjoy today for now." Riverdrift replied. He stared off at the horizon as the sun set.
—
"Argh!" Riverdrift stumbled on a rock as he raced past the Thunderclan forest. The intruders were close now, right on his heels. He quickly got up and ran faster, right after Lightningstrike.
"Percy!" He accidentally called Riverdrift's first name before the clans. "Hurry! We don't have time!"
"I'm trying!" Riverdrift pushed himself, taking detours to stop the intruders. Lightningstrike stopped a little before him. "What are you doing? Go!"
Lightningstrike turned around and continued racing. He shot past the Thunderclan border and the Thunderpath and headed straight for Windclan territory. Riverdrift headed for Shadowclan, opting for wet marshes to help him.
"You will never escape us, Percy and Jason. We will always haunt you." The intruders hissed. They split up, chasing the two brothers to the tunnel that connected to Shadowclan and bordering them.
"Lightningstrike! Just run for the clans! I can hold them off!" Riverdrift shouted. He positioned himself into a fighting stance and bared his teeth. "Lightningstrike, go!"
Lightningstrike darted to Shadowclan territory, slipping past a few of the intruders. They started to him, before being ambushed by Riverdrift. He sliced like a maniac, biting whatever fur he could find. He cracked one's back with one kick from his hindquarters. Before long, he was drowning in a sea of enemies.
An ironic end for the son of a Riverclan warrior.
--
Lightningstrike ran into a patrol.
"Stop! What are you doing?" An apprentice snarled. Someone who must've been their mentor put a paw other shoulder. "Calm down. No need to shed blood over something so trivial."
"My brother! He's caught!" Lightningstrike panted. "A bunch of cats ambushed us and us only, so we ran! Help!"
"What?" Another warrior asked.
"Follow me! Please!" He pleaded. Then Lightningstrike ran off, not bothering to check if the small patrol was following. He ended up at the tunnel, but it was empty.
Scraps of fur and pools of blood were the only remnants.
"No," Lightningstrike whispered. "Riverdrift."
"Explain this." The mentor demanded. "Is this an ambush?"
"I knew it!" The apprentice shouted triumphantly.
Lightningstrike buckles down to his knees, horrified that his brother and best friend was gone.
But that wasn't the end.
—
Riverdrift came back, over thirty moons later. He walked his way over to Fourtrees, surprising everyone who was there. They all had mourned his death so many moons ago, believing that he was gone for good. Instead, he came back healthy, with only a few scars on his neck and chest.
Lightningstrike was deputy now, a high position that was far from his days as a pampered kit.
"And Shadowclan's hunting has been good lately, for Starclan seems to have blessed the clans with peace and prosperity." The leader of Shadowclan ended, letting the Riverclan leader come and say their words.
"Riverclan's river has been abundant with plenty of fish and kits are doing well. We only have a few arguments about the border now that we share Sunningrocks." The leader paused, hearing a rustle in the bushes around.
From the bushes emerged a tom with a gray-striped pelt, sleek and clean. His eyes were shining a clear river blue, happiness showing in his eyes.
"Hello." The tom greeted. He bowed in greeting. "I suppose nothing has changed since I was gone, Lightningstrike?"
Lightningstrike couldn't respond, for he was paralyzed with surprise. He was staring straight into the eyes of his presumed-dead brother. "Riverdrift?" The question came out like a statement.
"Yes, Lightningstrike. It is me." Riverdrift said, his formal language shocking many that knew him. This was not the cat they were used to.
Lightningstrike raced up, abandoning his seat at the bottom of the rock.
"What is this?" One leader asked. "Why is that cat that supposedly died back?"
"Shut up! You should be glad he isn't ripping your pelt off for that." Another snapped. They had personally faced Riverdrift off in battle and was miserably defeated.
"So Juno did not take him for good after all." Arrowstar murmured. "I was thinking the legion was taking him for good. Thank Starclan they're not."
"Are you saying you knew that would happen?" Another asked. "No way could he now belong to another-"
"He is a Legion cat along as a clan cat. The Legion is a lot stricter, forbidding rule breakers. They know the camps, but they do not have conflict. They respect boundaries." Arrowstar said. "The Riverclan warrior that went missing for two moons, her mate was a Legion cat called 'Poseidon'."
"So that's what happened."
—
"How you doing there, Riverdrift?" Lightningstar meowed as he entered the camp with the hunting patrol. "Are the dens rebuilt yet?"
"Yes, Lightningstar. The dens are rebuilt to where no eagle can snatch a cat now." Riverdrift demonstrated by placing a well-aimed kick at the wall, but careful to not scratch his pads.
Their most recent loss was a Queen and a kit that had been taken away by two eagles while most of the warriors were out, leaving elders to defend. They had been cautious after, using whatever sharp object they could find and placing them in positions where no bird could land on the nursery, warriors den, or the elders den.
"Good, we don't need another incident like that one to happen." Lightningstar nodded and went to place his prey on the fresh-kill pile.
"How are you doing, Riverdrift?" Riverdrift's mate, Owleyes asked. They nuzzled each other's noses. Owl face was now a few moons pregnant, her belly swollen with growing kits.
"Great. I'm happier now that you're here." Riverdrift said.
"Hey! Cut that nuzzling out! Some of us are tryin' to sleep here, ya know?" A cranky elder snapped. They stifled meows of amusement.
All was good now in Thunderclan.
Arrowstar passed on in a peaceful death, succumbing to old age in his last life. Many others had died, but they were all just as old as Arrowstar.
New blood roamed the camp, helping out where they could.
Leaffall was kind and gave them prosperity like greenleaf.
All was good in Thunderclan.
