Mrs. Gerard Butler
"Good morning," Emmy smiled. "How'd you sleep?"
"Surprisingly well," Elise nodded.
"Ready to get married?" Emmy chuckled.
Elise stopped in her tracks. "Wait, what?! That's today?! I thought that was next week!"
Emmy's eyes grew wide. "Oh, no. Elise, I can't believe this! How did you forget about your wedding?!"
Elise burst out laughing until she was gasping for air. "I can't believe you bought that," she said breathlessly. "Gosh, you should see the look on your face."
Emmy breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thanks heavens. You scared me half to death!"
"Sorry," Elise chuckled. "Anyway, what's for breakfast?"
"Scrambled eggs. I had to make something quick since we have to get to the venue in an hour," Emmy nodded.
"Thanks," Elise smiled, sitting down on a stool at the counter.
Emmy handed her a plate and a fork. "Are you excited to marry Gerard?"
Elise nodded. "Though, if I'm being totally honest, I'm super nervous. What if he changes his mind? What if he decides he doesn't want to marry me after all? What if he thinks this is a mistake?!"
"Calm down, E," Emmy chuckled. "Gerry is a very levelheaded guy. I'm one hundred percent certain that none of that is going to happen. He loves you."
Elise breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay. Good. Freak out over."
"But?" Emmy asked knowingly.
"What if my brother hates him?" Elise sighed. "This will be Eli's first time meeting Gerry. What if he doesn't like him and then refuses to walk me down the aisle? It's not like I have a father to do it."
Emmy hugged her friend. "Do you miss your dad?"
"I don't miss him," Elise said firmly. "He left us. He's a jerk and doesn't deserve to be missed. I'm mad at him."
"You can be mad at someone and still miss them," Emmy said softly. "And besides, Eli won't hate Gerry. Just trust me, alright?"
"Alright," Elise said quietly.
Once the two finished eating, they grabbed their things and headed out the door. After a twenty minute drive, they arrived at the wedding venue and got out of the car before going inside.
"Alright," Emmy said when they reached the dressing room. "Go sit down. We'll start with hair and makeup."
"Okay," Elise sighed nervously, sitting down at the vanity.
Emmy curled Elise's short, black hair over her shoulders and then pinned back a few curls, creating a half up, half down hairstyle. "Beautiful," she smiled.
"Wow," Elise gaped. "Thank you so much. I love it!"
"It's my pleasure," Emmy grinned. "Alright. Let's just finish with your makeup."
—————
"Oh, Elise, you're a vision," Emmy smiled fondly. "Just wait until Gerry sees you."
"Thank you," Elise blushed before checking the time. "Oh, gosh. We only have a few minutes until the ceremony."
"Oh, dear. I'm going to go find Patrick," Emmy said hurriedly, grabbing her bouquet. "Go get your brother."
Elise went back over to the vanity and grabbed her bouquet of white and yellow roses before leaving the dressing room to meet with her brother. "Eli!" She called out excitedly.
The brother embraced her tightly. "Hiya, shrimp," he chuckled. "Gosh, I can't believe my baby sister's getting married."
"I can't believe it either," Elise laughed softly. "It's all so...so unreal."
Eli smiled and took her aside. "Now, you must tell me again how you met this Gerard Butler."
"Well, it was about a year ago when he was here in London, filming The Phantom of the Opera. I was working at the café when Gerry came in with Patrick and Emmy..."
—————
One year ago.
"Hello. What can I get for you today?" Elise smiled.
"Just a double espresso," Gerard replied in his thick Scottish accent.
"Coming right up," Elise nodded.
Gerard smiled. "What's your name, lass?"
"Elise."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Gerard. These are my friends Patrick and Emmy. You'll be seeing a lot of us for the foreseeable future. We're filming a movie in town."
"Oh, wow," Elise smiled. "What's the movie?"
"The Phantom of the Opera," Gerard nodded.
"That's my favorite musical!" Elise grinned as she began to make his coffee. "It's nice to meet you, Gerard."
"It's good to meet you too, lass." Gerard paid for his coffee and sent her a wink before sitting at a table with his friends.
—————
"And they came in every morning after that," Elise smiled, her brown eyes sparkling. "On the last day, Gerry gave me his number and we started dating."
"That's sweet," Eli nodded. "He seems like a good guy."
"He is," Elise agreed. "Oh, how's Australia? Is it wonderful?"
"It is," Eli smiled. "I'll tell you more later. The ceremony is about to begin."
"Oh, so it is," Elise nodded. "Yep. Definitely ready for this. Not nervous at all. I'm not nervous. Why would I be nervous? Nobody should be nervous. Do I sound nervous?!"
Eli chuckled. "Just a little. Come on."
Elise laced her arm through her older brother's and waited as Emmy walked down the aisle with Patrick before the latter took his place beside Gerry as best man.
Just then, the music changed and everyone stood. Eli walked his sister down the aisle, tears streaming down their cheeks.
Elise approached Gerard and handed her bouquet to Emmy before taking her fiancé's hands in her own. "Hi," she whispered.
"You're gorgeous," Gerard whispered back, tears forming in his pale blue eyes as he looked down at her.
The justice began the ceremony and soon asked for the vows.
"Elise," Gerard smiled, holding her hands tightly, "I love you more than anything else. You are the best thing to have ever happened to me. You are my love, my light, my best friend, my angel, my world, and my life. You alone can make my song take flight. You're all I've ever wanted. All I ask of you is that you love me, and in return, I promise that I will be here for you and be loyal for as long as we both shall live."
"Gerry," Elise said through tears, "I knew from the moment you walked into the café that you were someone special. I...I...I don't know what else to say except...our love is evergreen. It's as unchanging as the sea...I love you so much. I promise that I always will and that I will be loyal till death do us part. For as long as we both shall live."
The couple exchanged rings, and slowly, Gerard leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to Elise's lips. "Anywhere you go, let me go too," he whispered as he pulled away for a brief second before kissing her again.
—————
A couple months later.
Gerard's muscles bulged as he lifted the heavy weight upwards and back down to his chest, a few beads of sweat causing his sleeveless shirt to cling tightly to his body.
Elise opened the door to the workout room. "Hey, Babe," she smiled, biting her lip as she watched him. "Um," she said distractingly.
"Yes?"
"Um...sorry, what?"
Gerard chuckled. "You came in here to tell me something."
"Oh, right," Elise nodded. "Dinner's ready."
"Alright," Gerard nodded, putting the barbell on the weight rack and getting up off his bench press.
Elise went back to the kitchen as he threw a towel around his neck and went to change. After he dressed into fresh clothes, he went into the kitchen and found his wife attempting to finish some work.
Elise threw her pencil in frustration and buried her face in her hands.
Gerard gently placed his hands on her shoulders. "You need to stop overthinking, lass," he whispered in a voice that was sweet, yet hot and seductive. He leaned down when she turned to look at him and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering on her skin.
Elise smiled softly.
Gerard moved the numerous books aside and placed a James Bond novel in front of her. "I'll get you some dinner. Just relax and read."
Elise nodded and began to read her book.
Gerard smiled at her and gave her a plate of the chicken pot pie she made before wrapping his arms around her. "I love you," he whispered softly.
