Flamerose
Yea I've discovered another OTP.
Blackrose continued adding the herbs to Flamespark's wound. "Hey! That hurts!" Flamespark yowled. "It's not my fault you ran into that bush! And fell off the rock ledge!" Blackrose growled. "Now old still!" She wrapped his arm and side in cobwebs. "You don't even care," Flamespark mewed miserably. He had gotten stuck in the bramble bush on the rock ledge with the cave chasing a mouse for the black medicine cat. Pineflower had disappeared a few days before and Blackrose was under a lot of pressure taking care of the whole clan. Flamespark knew she had a tendency to forget to eat but it had gotten worse. She'd also become more testy and every time he tried to talk to her, she'd snap at him and walk away. Blackrose's face softened. "You know I care," she sighed. "It's just...been difficult." She looked at her paws and scratched her ear with a scowl. She hated the tic but Flamespark found it cute. "No you don't," he pouted. "You don't talk to me anymore and you swat me on the head every time I-" his face flew forward. "EXACTLY!" He said although she had proved his point. She hit him in the head with her paw. She sighed and tucked the paw she hit him with under her other paw. "Sorry," she sighed. "I-I'm just...not sure if I can handle all this...all these visions every night...sick or hurt cats at the mouth of my den everyday...I'm not sure I can handle it," she studied her paws. "It's okay...I can't help you if you don't let me," Flamespark smirked. It was a line she'd used a lot when they were apprentices. He had been struggling with...things...at the time and Blackpaw was worried but Flamepaw wouldn't let her in. "Flamespark..." Blackrose murmured and looked up at his face with her big hazel eyes. She looked like she was going to say something but her face darkened and she shook her head. "Just...that nest over there. You'll have to stay here for a while." She padded away. "Wait!" He called with his paw outstretched and realized how desperate he sounded. He sat himself back down and Blackrose turned to him. She tiled her head with a look of pure annoyance. "What?" She asked. Flamespark shuffled his paws uncomfortably. "I like you," he blurted. "Well we're friends aren't we?" Blackrose grunted not quite understanding. "No, I like you like you," Flamespark said quietly, not looking at his friend. Blackrose's eyes widened. She felt the same way but was unwilling to admit it. They stayed silent for a while and Flamespark finally looked up. "What about you?" He asked softly. "I-I...I love you to Sparky," she kept her eyes down and her voice low as she scratched at her ear again. A tear hit the ground and Flamespark realized she was crying. He padded over to her and put his tail around her and licked her forehead. Blackrose backed away. "What's wrong?" Flamespark asked. "I-I'm a medicine cat Flamespark. It...it would never work...I've heard all the stories...the medicine she cat helplessly falls in love and when they have kits the tom denies it and the medicine cat who's never learned how to fight for herself is kicked out of the clan and has to fend for herself and her kits and eventually is eaten by badgers!" She was full on bawling her silent tears. "I would never do that to you," Flamespark objected. "It's against the warrior code Flamespark! It would never work," the small black cat burrows her face in the dirt. "No matter how much we love each other forbidden mates never work out!" Flamespark knew she was right but he didn't want to admit it. "We can be careful," he suggested but Blackrose shook her head. "It won't work," she repeated. "Maybe...maybe in another life..." she wiped her face with her tail and padded off to her nest in the farthest corner of the den. Flamespark too left even though she'd told him he'd have to stay. He didn't think he could be in the same den with her right now. He knew it caused them both too much pain.
