~Chapter 6~
“Viktor! Get your ass in the car before I run you over!” I yelled. I had my driver’s side door open and was standing, looking over the hood of the car. Viktor was talking with two boys and a girl was hanging on his arm. All turned to me, all of them looking surprised except Viktor who glared.
“Shut up!”
“Viktor, poluchit’ v chertovu mashinu, prezhde chem ya ili tolchok nogoi v zadnitsu ili udarit’ tebya po yaitsam, I pust’ Plazma ukusit’ vas pozzhe*.” He instantly paled while his friends looked confused as hell.
“Vy ne zakhoteli*!” Now his friends looked at him in confusion.
“Try me, bitch.” I replied, narrowing my eyes. He gulped, said a quick goodbye to his friends and scurried over to the car.
I got in, slamming my door and sped off just as soon he closed the door. His eyes widened, grappling for the seatbelt as I pulled onto the road.
“What the hell’s your problem?” He wondered. I tossed him my phone, grumbling under my breath. I waited as he read the message and he instantly scowled, handing it back. I glanced at the message one more time before locking my phone.
Mom: Guess what?! We’re gonna be having dinner over at our new neighbors house along with Nanna and Grandpa! It starts at 7 so be ready!
I snorted, focusing on calming myself down. I wasn’t into big, gathering-like dinners. I usually sat in my room in front of the TV, my laptop or a book and then threw away my crap and go back to what I was doing previously.
“This is gonna suck.” Viktor whined, hitting the back of his head against his seat. I nodded, sighing before pulling into the driveway. It was actually a quick drive between here and the schools.
“Let’s just get it over with when it’s time.” I sighed, getting out of the car. He followed my actions, grabbed his backpack and then tromped after me up to the house. Mom was at work until five so at least we could relax until then.
“I’ll be reading.” I stated, heading down the hallway. He turned into his room, nodding. I quickly scurried up the stairs and then took a seat in the comfy leather chair next to the small bookcase. I plucked out one of the books, opening it and proceeded to read.
Well that was interesting…. I thought, walking around my backyard. We had had the dinner and it turns out that Kindle was my neighbor. Yeah. That was a huge surprise.
It was plenty fun and everything but now it was nine o’clock and I was bored as fuck. So, I decided to explore a bit.
“Viktor! Let’s go hiking.” I ordered. He looked up from where he was ripping up the grass in the center of the yard and nodded.
“Let me go tell momma so she doesn’t kill us and grab Plazma.” I nodded, leaning against a tree as he ran inside. A few minutes later he came back outside, a leash attached to Plazma’s collar.
Plazma wagged her tail, barking and ran with Viktor as he rushed over to me. I nodded at him and we proceeded to walk into the forest, our only light the setting sun.
The forest was….strange. After about twenty minutes the small, thin trees turned ginormous. The trunks went from a foot diameter to at least five. The air got mistier, spookier. It was hard to breath. Add in the fact that dusk was setting and night creatures were roaming and even I was feeling slightly nervous. Plazma growled, her head whipping around rapidly. I raised an eyebrow as Viktor and I stared at her in confusion. We continued walking though and I sighed.
“This place is spooky-!” I gave a shout as I suddenly tripped.
“Maya!” Viktor shouted, trying to catch me but failed.
“Ow….” I muttered as I stopped myself from face-planting. I went on my hands and knees, turning back to find out what tripped me. My foot was caught on a….door handle?
“What the fuck?” I muttered, crawling over to it. The handle was black and had little fancy engravings in it.
“What’s that?” Viktor wondered, sitting next to me. Plazma’s ears were laid back against her head and she was growling.
“A handle….on the ground….” Viktor muttered. I felt my eye twitch and I started digging at the ground.
“What’re you doing?” He wondered. I narrowed my eyes at him, looking at him like he was an idiot. Which he was, but still.
“If there’s a handle, there might be a door. Duh.” I rolled my eyes, continuing to dig and he started helping.
“It’s huge.” He muttered as we found out the door was at least six feet long.
“That’s what she said.” I muttered, making him glare at me. I smirked, finishing in my dig. The door was six feet by three feet and made of solid oak.
“You open it.” Viktor muttered. I raised an eyebrow, looking at him.
“Pussy.”
He gave me a dirty look, flicking me off. I chuckled, both of us moving off the door and I grasped the handle, pulling on it. I scowled, tugging on the handle again. What the hell?
“Dammit!” I muttered, grabbing the stupid handle with both hands and pulled on it again. Finally, it opened. And out came a large plume of nasty air and dust.
“Ew.” Viktor muttered, staring inside the hole with his nose wrinkled.
“Well that’s disgusting.” I muttered, staring at it with a raised eyebrow. Suddenly the earth trembled and both Viktor and I grabbed onto each other while Plazma let out a howl. There was a blinding light before everything suddenly froze and went back to normal. Everything was silent. The insects, the mammals, everything. Silent. No sound. None whatsoever.
“Fuck!” We both suddenly shouted. Something….black had came out of the hole and shot up into the sky.
Ominous laughter floated through the air as our eyes followed the object. Plazma was growling again and suddenly all the sounds returned. Except every living thing was screaming.
