Chapter One

Pain, hunger, anger, and depression. They were normal feelings that Kyuseishu Kai felt when he woke up. However, there was something different about this time….a nagging feeling in the back of his head that told him something had changed. The day hadn’t ended with the usual pain and hunger. No, it had ended when….the wall constricting him and Kyusen shattered.

Light blue eyes snapped open and he glared around the room, taking it all in within five seconds. On the only other bed rested Yumeikai Kyusen, his long black hair fanned around his curled up body.

Moving to get off the bed – something he hadn’t caught sight of in ten years – Kai was restrained by an object. Glancing down, he frowned at the wires leading into his arm and he pulled them out without so much as a wince. The heart monitor to the left of his bed automatically went flat line, making an annoying sound as Kai got up from the bed and headed over to Kyusen.

Climbing onto the soft material, he leaned down until his neck met with Kyusen’s lips and he started to push his overwhelmingly large chakra into the black-haired male.

Within ten seconds Kyusen’s dark blue eyes stared up at Kai, taking in his pale, almost white skin. “Kai….”

“Hey sleepyhead.” Kai murmured, bracing his arms as Kyusen started to take a larger bit of his chakra. After five seconds the male pulled away, smiling tiredly at the purple-haired boy. Leaning away so he could sit cross-legged, Kai watched as Kyusen propped himself up and glanced around the room in a quick evaluation.

Before either could say more, their door was thrown open and they both hissed in a feral way, their overly sharp canines giving them a demon-like look.

“You’re awake….” The black-haired nurse murmured, her eyes wide as she stared at the two defensive males.

“Who are you?” Kyusen growled, his hand tightening where it was placed on Kai’s shoulder.

The nurse, named Shizune, just continued staring at them before being jerked into focus as another nurse ran up behind her. Snapping at the nurse, Shizune pushed the nurse back out of the room without taking her eyes off the two males. “Get Lady Tsunade immediately.”

The other nurse had caught sight of the conscious males and nodded, sprinting down the hall. Closing the door behind her, Shizune raised her arms with her palms out, showing the two boys she wasn’t a threat.

Their eyes had never strayed from her though, and they both had a piercing gaze just like a hawk.

“I’m Shizune, you’ve been found by our ANBU within one of Orochimaru’s abandoned hideouts. They took you back to Konohagakure and admitted you into the hospital, where you are now.” She explained her voice smooth and cautious, as if not to startle the two.

“Why?” Kai growled, eyes narrowed to slits suspiciously.

“Essentially we’ll be asking you for information about Orochimaru and how long the hideout had been vacated. In return, we offer you recuperation time and even a chance to join the village if you so choose.” She stated, her tone sounding like she was reading off a script.

“So this is an exchange situation then.” Kyusen murmured, eyes half-lidded as he rested his chin on Kai’s shoulder.

“Yes. Lady Hokage will be here within five minutes so please be patient.” Shizune requested.

Glancing to his left, Kai stared at Kyusen and the black-haired boy blinked slowly before lifting his head and moving aside his long hair, leaving his neck open to the purple-haired boy.

Leaning over to him, Kai’s lips touched Kyusen’s neck and he instantly started pulling the boy’s chakra into his own body. Shizune watched the exchange in confusion, her cheeks heating up slightly as she stared.

“U-um, would you two like food and water?” She questioned.

“What’s that?” Kyusen asked, his lips pursed as he stared at the older woman.

“Wha….what?”

“Food. What’s that?” Kyusen tilted his head, his cheek brushing against Kai’s forehead as the boy continued to gather chakra into his body.

“Um….it’s substances that you eat so that you gain energy and end hunger.” Shizune stated, her eyebrows furrowed as she thought of a simple explanation.

“Oh, you mean prey? Okay.” Kyusen nodded as Kai pulled away, running a hand through his long purple hair.

“Prey….?” Shizune whispered for herself but ignored it, turning to the door as it was slammed open. She had to take a step back as something was thrown past her face and lodged into the door. Blinking, she saw a rod sticking halfway through the door, half on one side and half on the other. Tsunade was standing a few inches away, staring at the rod blankly.

“Oops.” Kyusen muttered, his eyes taking on a puppy-dog look as he stared at the blonde. Kai was chuckling, his arms wrapped around the shorter male’s shoulders and his head turned towards the door.

“What the hell?” The Hokage questioned, her expression twisting into a scowl.

“You startled me.” Kyusen stated, shrugging as if that explained everything.

Shizune was busy looking around for where the rod could’ve come from then saw that the heart monitor beside the black-haired boy’s bed was have hanging on a thin wire, the rod that held it now going through the door.

Nice reflexes. Tsunade thought before walking into the room, her brown eyes stuck on the two teenagers.

“I’m Tsunade, Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure. You two were found within a chakra-resistant room which made it highly unlikely to detect your overwhelming level of chakra even with our best sensor ninja.
