“They’re asleep. Barely, but I doubt they’re heavy sleepers anyway.” My Beta mumbled, his left arm brushing my right as I stared a hundred feet away from us, focusing on the six kids that were sleeping around a small fire.

“Stupid, really. They should know by now that fires attract attention.” I mumbled, raising an eyebrow as my bluish-black eyes darted over to the boy next to me. We were both sixteen, though I was in charge of our five-man Pack.

“They’ve only been out on their own fairly recently. They had that house on the cliff, remember?”

“Still, survival should be instinctual. They should be active right now, not during the day. There’s less of a risk of being seen.” I grumbled, glancing at him only to meet his blood red eyes.

“Tornado, we have four more percent of bird DNA then they do. Meaning they’re four percent more human than we are. They probably don’t have the same level of instincts as we do.” He pointed out, making me sigh.

“I don’t even know why we keep watching out for these brats, Pyro. If it wasn’t for Jeb, we wouldn’t be here right now.” I sighed, turning my back on the sleeping bird-kids, the fire now distinguished due to a quick snap of Pyro’s fingers. That was one of his many talents, he had pyrokinesis, making him able to create and control fire with a simple whim.

“Someone’s got to keep Max safe until she saves the world.” Pyro commented in amusement, making me snort.

“Seeing how she acts, you’d probably be punched for that comment.” I drawled, making him snort and roll his eyes.

“But,” I continued, my voice taking on a serious edge, “seeing as she’s far weaker than she realizes, it’s a valid point.”

“It’s amusing being the superior avian hybrids to you, isn’t it?” He questioned, raising and eyebrow.

“Oh, Pyro, you know me too well to be asking such an obvious question.”
