One Shot from : Running Wolf
The longer he drove the thicker the woods got. David was going home. He had spent the last six years studying for his business degree. He had been looking forward to this day for years. He loved his family and he had missed them terribly. Being born a shifter he was raised to know that family was to be his first priority. To protect and keep them safe was his job as the next alpha.
David is finally going home, back to the pack lands. He had his degree now. It would help him in running the pack construction business. The pack all worked together and the business keep them all feed.
David's only problem now was that he had not found his mate. He knew that his mate were out there somewhere. He had just not found his mate yet. His father said school may be the answer.
His father thought for sure when he did not find his mate among the pack. He would have better luck in college. It didn't work out the way.
"Kill two brid's with one stone." His father announced. Education and mate. When his mate didn't show he threw himself into his studies. Graduated top of his class.
Now he is going home. David felt more himself with every mile that brought him closer to home. His father wanted him to start to taking over the duties of alpha. His father was ready to retire and send more time with his mate Kay and their youngest Alex. David was extremely happy to get to see his little sister. He came home briefly for her birth. Now he could spend some of his time spoiling her.
David was ready to take his place among the pack, beyond ready, he has missed pack so bad it hurts. He feels like he can really breath as soon as he crosses the border. Thats when he starts to see wolfs in the tree line. They start to run as soon as they see his car. Big beautiful wolfs standing taller than their normal counter parts. Each one David can call by name just by looking at them.
Soon as he pulls into the road that leads to the pack house. He can see that crush and run drive is lined with cars. Every one in the pack must be here. Some 400 wolf strong pack. There are even some out of state tags.
"Damn, he told other packs to come" David hisses. David's father was all about keeping strong alliances. His father told him early that no pack stands alone.
There is a large crowd gather outside the pack house. He drives up to the crowd and steps out to cheers and huges. His father is the first one in line to hug him. His father like himself was born to be alpha. He is taller than the other pack menbers. The only tell tell sign of his age is his salt and pepper hair. "Welcome back son." He gives him a big Bear hug.
His mother is next " so glad you are home" she breathes. As she holds his face. David has missed his mother quite beauty. Her green eyes shine with love as she kisses David's cheek.
Next is his father's bata John and his mate Jessica. David practically lived at their house during the summers. John had a big hand in David's training.
"Welcome home mut" John slaps his back. John is a good natured man, strong fighter and loyal bate. David would gladly fight by his side any day.
"John! Don't hit him. Welcome home David." Jessica quitely says. As he hugs her he smells an ocean breeze mixed with gardenias. He looks at her he is just about to question her about it when his father voice booms overs all
" Please! Family, friends come inside and help us celebrate our sons return. The foods inside!" All cheer and follow David's dad inside.
Inside the pack house the dinning room table was loaded with all David's favorite foods. He enjoyed the home cooked meal. Though he kept smelling the same sent. It happened every time Jessica came near him.
David tried to question her about but someone always came up to welcome him home. He could feel the pull of the mate bond just from the smell that clung to Jessica. David just had find a way to ask her without the packs interference.
