● Run ●

"Who even learns Morse code? That's outdated!" My friend admonished me.

"There's a charm to it. You won't understand," I explained. Before she could say anything, swaying of trees distracted us.

"If you want to learn something, learn to listen to the sounds of nature."

I laughed. "You can't learn that!"

"If you tried, you could."

I rolled my eyes. She smiled, "Nature always gives a warning before any calamity strikes."

Managing to divert the conversation, we soon decided to leave for our respective houses from the cafe. Monsoons were right around the corner and I didn't want to take a chance. Whilst traveling back home, the sky turned cloudy but the rain didn't start until I reached home.

Fearing that rain might seep in through the windows, I ran around the house quickly closing them. No sooner had I closed the last window, than I heard raindrops making the sound, 'Run' in Morse code.

I stared at the window in disbelief. Why would the rain know about Morse code? The rain started falling harder and I continuously heard 'Run' tapping against the windowsill.

Confused, I closed my eyes and ears, letting out a deep sigh. That's when I noticed the presence of a person behind me.

My take on writing prompt, "You never felt the same after learning Morse Code. The rain keeps telling you to run."

Trying to overcome my writer's block with these type of one shot stories.

Thank you for reading!
