● Am I A Human? ●
"Am I a human?" she asked.
The machine displayed, 'No'.
She looked at the machine. It was a testament to her handiwork. A machine that displays either yes or no to a question asked. In other words, a simple binary answer to any complex question. She went through the file which had all plausible test cases and the correct solutions to it. Except for one test case, every other test case ran fine.
The test case was the question, 'Am I a human?' to which the anticipated answer was 'Yes'. This test case was taking more time than estimated. More time than the expected worst-case scenario. This case seemed to be questioning her credibility. The machine had a problem recognizing if the voice it had heard was of a human or not. In the previous cases where text-to-speech voices were used, the machine had accurately predicted it to be not a human.
Sensing a human presence, she turned towards its source, the door of that room. She saw him standing next to the computer which was marked, 'Don't Touch'. Upon pressing a button on the keyboard, he stopped the simulation. Her head dropped. The faint rumble emanating from her body had stopped.
He smirked and murmured, "You were never one."

I wrote this impromptu story when I read a short story prompt on Pinterest. But I didn't save the pin and now I am not able to find it. :(
The prompt was something like this - A person asks the machine if it is a human. The machine responds with a 'no'.
It's a very different type of story from what I write usually. Any type of constructive criticism is welcomed.
