The Ranger and the Prince. [Legolas one-shot]
Everyone knew Hannah and Aragorn, siblings who was raised by the Lord of Rivendell, Elrond. The only two surviving of the dunedain. Wherever Aragorn was at so was Hannah, they were both known to be fearsome fighters but both caring and loyal especially Hannah who had so much beauty than any human.
Together Aragorn and Hannah want to restore Middle Earth to its former glory of course it was impossible since they were only two while Aragorn went to Bree to meet Gandalf, Hannah went to the great Greenwood or was now known as Mirkwood. She needed to investigate if what they say was true that a dark shadow has been in hiding.
Hannah was wandering through the forest of Mirkwood gently talking to the trees that left remaining and sang to them if they were able to be saved. When suddenly as Hannah turned around she was greeted by the tip of an arrow "Who are you and what business do you have in Thranduil's forest?" the blond ellon sneered showing he was not afraid to kill in a blink of an eye. "I am Hannah of Esteldin." she said as she raised her hands showing that she meant no harm. "A Ranger?" the blond ellon asked as he lowered his bow. "Aye!" Hannah said as she raised her head proud to be a ranger.
"What is a ranger doing in the forest of Mirkwood?" the blond ellon asked. "Seeing if the rumors are true that a great darkness lies upon this forest." Hannah said as she touched a tree. "Aye it is sadly true." he said as he also touched a tree, sadness shown upon every inch of his face. "Fear not for there is always hope even in the most darkest of times, I was also hoping if I could have thy name?" Hannah asked, the blond ellon looked startled like he couldn't believe that this ranger Hannah did not know who he was. "I am Legolas of the Woodland realm." he said as he bowed but quickly Hannah bowed as well and stated "I apologize Prince Legolas for I have not yet the pleasure of meeting you before."
"So you have heard of me?" Legolas asked with a smirk. "Aye, very well some of good and some of bad but I do not judge before I could see it with my own eyes." Hannah said. "And have you seen anything so far?" Legolas asked his smirk still plastered on his face. "The Prince is friendly but he did point an arrow at my face and is now I believe flirting with me." Hannah laughed and so did Legolas.
"Aiya! Where you going somewhere Prince Legolas?" Hannah asked. "Yes, and please just call me Legolas. I was going to Rivendell." Legolas said as he mounted his horse, Hannah did the same and asked "I wish you no trouble but would you mind if I accompany you to Rivendell I might as well visit there and see if my brother is there if not then I shall wait there?" "It is no trouble at all, and you have a brother?" Legolas asked as they both trotted slowly beside each other. "Yes, I do have. He is very dear to me, he is also a Ranger just like myself he goes by the name Strider but his name is really Aragorn." she said as she rolled her eyes at her brother's nickname.
"Aragorn son of Arathorn? Heir of Isildur? So you are daughter of Arathorn?" Legolas asked. "Aha! Yes, so you have heard of my bone head brother?" Hannah asked and Legolas laughed "Yes, I have been acquainted with him before, he is a friend of mine." Hannah's head then snapped towards Legolas "When? Where?" she asked seriously. "At my home, he came alone but we both were very young at that time. I taught him how to shoot a bow." he said, Hannah frowned but as she looked up at the sky she quickly said "We must make haste it will rain soon and we don't want to be in Misty Mountains during the rain."
Luck wasn't on their side because once they reached Misty Mountains it started raining and not only did it rain but it was also a storm. They took cover in a small cave both of their horses behind them giving them some warmth but their horses took up most of the space and they had to pull their knees to their chest so that their feet won't get wet sadly they were already drenched from head to toe and Hannah not being a full elf she was shivering from the cold that was piercing her body.
Legolas noticed this and he knew that if he did't get her warm then she'll get very sick and possibly die. Legolas opened his arms already considering Hannah a good friend and he also trusted her. "Come, my body shall keep you warm." he said his voice echoed through the small cave. Hannah was hesitant never had she ever been skin to skin or more like a hug with anyone else except her own brother eventually Hannah gave into his open arms and scooted closer so Legolas could wrap his arms around her body. Hannah smelt his scent which was Oak and something that made you feel right at home. Legolas noticed that she was trembling violently so he rubbed his hands on her shoulders hoping it would give some warmth. "Thank you." Hannah stuttered due to her shivering
The rain gave no signs in stopping or even slowing down so both of them decided to catch up on sleep and travel straight to Rivendell. After a few minutes they both fell into a deep sleep.
That was the time Hannah met Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, Her lover. It has been three years since the battle of one ring and the final death of Sauron. Hannah stayed in Gondor as Captain of the guard while her brother, Aragorn ruled the kingdom as King and his Queen, Arwen. Not only has it been three years since the most unforgettable battle but it has been three years since Hannah also got her heartbroken by the only person she let in, by the only person she trusted aside from the people she grew up with. She trusted him more than she trusted Gandalf.
But that was no more.
She dedicated her time to the people of Gondor and protecting them, she also dedicated her time to her nephews and nieces who she takes care of frequently. Hannah was known through the Kingdom as a Princess because of her friendliness and her care for the people.
But she wasn't ready for an unexpected visit from the Woodland realm. It was Arwen's begetting day and all of the remaining elves in Middle Earth were invited and that also includes the Wood elves but Hannah kept Legolas out of her mind for three years and she was doing great but apparently it wasn't enough because as soon as one of the guards announced their arrival 'King Thranduil of the Woodland realm and his son Prince Legolas and with his future wife Lady Vanya'
Hannah's heart fell six feet deep and possibly even deeper, her eyes glanced over to her brother and her brother gave a look saying 'Sorry, I'll explain later' before Hannah could back out the doors already opened revealing the last two people and even a new person she never wanted to see again. Hannah then straightened her back as her silver armor shined and crimson red cape trailed behind her. "King Thranduil it is a pleasure to have you in my Kingdom." Aragorn greeted them as both of them bowed and even though Hannah didn't want to bow she had no choice.
She remembered clearly, three years ago Legolas confessed his undying love for her and Hannah felt the same. They both protected each other during the fellowship and developed a strong bond and both talked during the night of how they would live their lives after the war-- together. Both planned to go to Mirkwood to ask Legolas' father's permission to marry and then they'll travel Middle Earth together along with their dwarf friend Gimli. Legolas popped the question during Aragorn's coronation and Hannah said 'Yes'.
But her happiness ended when she, Legolas and Gimli traveled to Mirkwood was that they asked Thranduil's permission to marry and Thranduil unexpectedly denied and rejected their love. Not only did he reject them but rejected them harshly and in front of the whole kingdom, Thranduil said bad things about Hannah about not being enough for Legolas and that Legolas could do better and when Gimli stood up to defend Hannah the King of Mirkwood banished Gimli and Hannah from the forest.
The rejection wasn't what really bothered and hurt Hannah what hurt her the most was Legolas didn't defend her or fight back. When she left Mirkwood with Gimli, Legolas made no attempt to say goodbye or even glance back at Hannah. Hannah cried hard like never before, Gimli took her under his care as they made their way towards the forest of Lothlorien where Hannah could be healed where she could rest and grieve. When she went back to Gondor, Aragorn was disappointed in Legolas but there was nothing he could do except give Hannah work to keep her busy.
"Indeed, I wouldn't miss the begetting day of a very dear friend." Thranduil said as he bowed towards Arwen but his eyes widen a bit as his eyes laid on Hannah. "My King Thranduil have you met my younger sister? Princess Hannah, Captain of the guard in Gondor?" Aragorn asked and Hannah knew that smirk plastered on her brother's face, this was payback.
"I think our paths may have crossed." Thranduil said as he bowed towards Hannah and Hannah couldn't help but do a happy dance in her head. "Please feel at home." Arwen said in her angelic voice and once everyone bowed to the other Hannah couldn't take the view of Legolas holding his future wife's hand. Hannah didn't look towards Legolas yet because she was scared her wall might break down once more and she would break down in front of them in tears. Hannah turned away and walked towards the gardens where she spends her time every time she missed the forest, Hannah was also known to love nature especially trees.
She inhaled the smell of wood and wet grass but was suddenly startled from a voice "You can't ignore me." she quickly turned around but regretted it. There stood Legolas in a robe almost identical to his fathers. It was a dark tunic but his robes were long in the back and gave full view of his boots and trousers and his royal silver crown sat proudly upon his head. He looked exactly the same except his golden locks were longer and his eyes were darker like his eyes were lifeless and dull.
Instead of replying to what he said she turned her head the other direction and didn't say a word. "Hannah." Legolas sighed as he grabbed her shoulder but she quickly jerked back like his hand was poisoned but in reality it just made her body filled with unnatural warmth. "Ignoring you? Huh? I wonder why?" she said with much venom as she could gather, Hannah was never the one to fuss and hiss and this was possibly the only time she had ever had such a fight because of her harsh rejection of her lover's father and lover she has grown strong.
"Hannah, I am truly so--" before he could even apologize Hannah blurted "Sorry isn't gonna fix anything!" "I know but seriously you cannot be mad at me it has been three years." Legolas said like it was agonizing for him. "And three years I have suffered! Three years have I thought to myself-- wasn't I enough to be fought for? Three years have I hoped that you would come back or at least send a letter but at the end of each day and each second I get my hopes up. Three years of thinking that you don't love me and that our love was nothing but a mistake... Three years have I tried convincing myself that I was worth it-- and that I was just with the wrong guy and three years have I tried loving another." Hannah cried out as tears started streaming down her face.
"I can explain everything--" once again cut off, "Please do because at the moment as I look at you I feel disgusted." Hannah hissed through her teeth and tears as she folded her arms across her chest. Legolas looked down and started "For many years have I tried gaining my father's praises especially when my mother passed on, I was afraid-- no, I was a coward back then. Afraid to go against my father's words. Days after you left I stayed locked up in my room thinking of what I just did.... or more like what I didn't do. I should've fought for you Hannah, for us, for our love. Hannah you are the most kindest and friendliest person I have ever met. You care for those around you not only do you have the beauty but you also have the brains, you are even ten times smarter than that Vanya that my father is forcing me to marry and I regret not chasing after you and tell you that I love you and that it's ok, I still love you Hannah."
"I'm sorry Legolas but you can't just walk back into my life and--" this time Hannah was cut off as Legolas pressed his lips to her and Hannah couldn't help but give into the sweet kissed that she often dreamed of and yearned for. Tears strolled down her face but she pushed back-- already missing the warmth of his lips. "No... no... I can't-- I don't wanna get hurt again." she sobbed out as she broke down to the ground, never in her life has she thought she could feel this way. She was strong and brave but apparently Legolas could bring a whole new side to Hannah.
As Hannah looked up Legolas was also in tears as he cupped Hannah's face thinking to himself that even in sadness and tears Hannah was beautiful. "Hannah, my Love, I was a fool back then-- I promise to stay by your side if you gave me one last chance to prove my love was and is true for you." Legolas was on his knees at Hannah's level. "Please Hannah, I can't lose you again." Legolas cried as he hugged her stomach since Hannah stood up. Legolas felt the cold silver armor but didn't mind.
Hannah took a leap of faith as she crashed into Legolas' arms and kissed him with all her might, Legolas kissed back with so much want and need. They both closed the space between them not wanting to be separated ever again.
**
During the celebration of Arwen's begetting day Legolas asked the King and Queen of Gondor if it was ok if he could have the stage for a bit to announce something and both agreed.
It was then when Legolas had the attention of every elf, every hobbit, every dwarf and every human that filled Aragorn's halls. Hannah stood beside her brother and her sister-in-law as she gripped both of their hands for support.
"My dear people of Middle Earth, I know it is a special day for our Queen of Gondor but it was also a good time to share something with all of you as this day was also special for me. I have asked the one I loved for her hand in marriage once more." he said which made some people confused, you could see an angry Thranduil and Vanya all the way from where Aragorn stood. "I have asked Princess Hannah of Gondor, Captain of the guard to be my lovely wife and she said yes." Legolas said lovingly as he gazed at Hannah with so much and Arwen and Aragorn were happy for her.
People clapped their hands but was interrupted by Thranduil's angry shouts "You cannot wed this girl my son! For you already are pledged to Lady Vanya of Lindon! I thought we have been through this before!" Hannah looked worried-- more like scared that Legolas would once again reject her. Instead Legolas looked over at Hannah and said calmly but enough for everyone to hear "I don't care what you say father or what anyone thinks, I will marry Hannah and love her forever, I will have her children and start a family of my own with her and no one else and if you have a problem with that then I no longer wish to be King of Mirkwood." Legolas said this made everyone shocked especially Hannah.
The King of Mirkwood and Vanya stormed away from the celebration and everybody clapped their hands and cheered. Hannah rushed into Legolas' awaiting arms and kissed him passionately. They married a month later in Gondor and they stayed near Rohan in the forest of Ithilien where he became Lord there and helped restored the forest along with his wife Hannah, Aragorn and Arwen visited along with their children and Thranduil and Legolas did not speak to each other ever since the time Legolas and Hannah were reunited but as soon as Hannah gave birth to two beautiful twin sons, Thranduil visited and apologized for everything. He even cried in front of us asking for forgiveness for his cruelty, he said that Legolas' mother would be so proud of him.
Legolas didn't want to forgive him but because of Hannah's kind heart she convinced him to forgive him and Thranduil happily helped with some of the building in Ithilien, he enjoyed his remaining days before he sailed to Valinor with the twins and the new born daughter.
Legolas and Hannah spent every second of their lives loving each other and never stopping and they kept showing the world that true love always win.
Even if you are a ranger and a Prince.
The End.
