This is a one shot for my supportive friend. :D

Athena was a beautiful elleth who lived in Mirkwood, Athena was treated like an outcast because she was different from all the other elleths. She had light orange hair and grey eyes that almost looks like white. Other elleths would call her names like weird, lame, ugly and other offensive names.

She had one best friend and she was the Princess of Mirkwood, Princess Lissene.(Leas- seyen) She had beautiful golden hair like her older brother, Prince Legolas and she had sparkling sky blue eyes. They both were close like sisters, Athena didn't mind people teasing her. She was happy but only one problem stood between her and her happiness.

She has a huge crush on Prince Legolas.

Princess Lissene knew her best friend had a crush on her older brother, she would try to set them up but seeing that Legolas is older than them by a thousand years. Athena thought it was useless. Legolas was way more mature and was Captain of Mirkwood's army. Legolas was 2000 years old. While Lissene and Athena was 900 years old.

"There's a big difference." Athena said as she hung up side down from a tree. "No there's not. When it comes to love, age is just age." Lissene said as she balanced on a tree branch that she was walking on. Athena swung herself up to look at Lissene and said "Come on! We are barely 1000 years old and here we are in Mirkwood, we haven't seen the outside world of our borders." Lissene giggled and said "It's dangerous out there!" Athena sighed and said "That's the point, me and you are lacking of experience. Your brother on the other hand, you just look into his eyes and you can see experience beyond your wildest dreams. He has seen battle, death and places Lissene. I want that!"

"Jeez! You make it sound like my brother is old, besides what you want is creepy! I just want to go to Rivendell--" Lissene was cut off by Athena saying "Ogling over the Rivendell Twins. You're starting to creep them out." Lissene hissed at Athena, that's when both of them started to laugh.

But both of them stopped once they heard something snapped behind them, They both slowly turned their heads and saw a warg about to attack them "RUN!" Lissene shouted, the problem here was Athena didn't bring weapons on her and so did Lissene, Lissene never brings weapons because she thinks it is a sin to an Elleth for holding weapons, and the second would be they are far away from the palace or any village that is.

Athena quickly grabbed Lissene's hand and jumped from the branch they were on and started running with a huge brown warg on their tail. "I told you this isn't a good idea to come out here!" Lissene shouted over the noise. "This isn't a great time to argue about that!" Athena shouted back.

When they turned they both found themselves at a dead end. "Valar help us." Athena whispered as her eyes widen and horror filled Athena and Lissene's eyes. They both turned around to face the viscous warg that was about to end their lives forever. Athena and Lissene held on to each other and both started crying, when the warg  was about to jump at them they both closed their eyes screamed at the top their lungs waiting for the worse to happen.

But nothing happened, they both opened their eyes to see Legolas shooting his bow at the warg in front of them. Athena and Lissene's heart were speeding at the speed of light. Lissene's heart was scared for she know Legolas would be mad at them and as for Athena she saw Legolas saved their lives. Her feelings for him increased even more.

The Warg then ran away, Athena and Lissene sighed but as they looked back at Legolas they saw a very furious angry Legolas. "Uh-oh!" Lissene muttered under her breath.

You could guess what happened,

"LISSENE! I have told you many of times to stay out of the forest!" Legolas shouted at Athena and Lissene as they sat at the edge of Lissene's bed. "I'm sorry Leg--" before Lissene could finish Legolas shook her by the shoulders and hissed "Don't you know what will happen to me if anything ever happened to you?" Athena eyeing them in jealousy, how she wished Legolas could act in that way to her or feel that way towards her.

"I know brother." Lissene whispered as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Athena was feeling sad. Her father was a Ranger, but still he was an Elf. He was from Rivendell and then he moved to Mirkwood to train, that's when he met Athena's mother who wasn't from Mirkwood but an unknown place. Nobody knew where she came from, but Athena's mother died giving birth to Athena and her father took care of her and once Athena could take care of herself, her father left her.

Athena lived alone in a small cottage. On holidays Lissene would visit her and so would the Queen of Mirkwood but the Queen of Mirkwood passed away long time ago. Legolas then pulled away and stared at Athena, Athena just wanted to melt as her silver white eyes met the electric blue eyes of Legolas. "Athena, you should be more careful next time. Your father will have my head on his sword if anything happened to you." he said, Athena just bowed her head and said "I'm sorry Prince Legolas." he nodded to both the girls and walked away.

Athena looked to the ground and knew that Legolas will feel nothing towards her, because to him she is just a little immature girl who knows nothing of the world.

-------------------------------------------------- Few weeks later

There was a knock at Athena's door. she quickly stopped her painting and dashed for the door with high hopes that it could be her father who stopped by for the Masquerade Great Grand ball. But as Athena opened the door, it revealed her best friend, Lissene. 

Liessene's eyes grew wide as she saw her best friend in a simple white gown and on the bottom was green and brown, which was dirt and grass. and she was wearing an apron that had all kinds of colors of paint on them and a part of Athena's hair was color green.

"What in Eru's name are you doing?" Lissene asked, as Athena was speechless by the beautiful green gown that Lissene was wearing with her jewelry and her circlet and braided hair. "Painting." Athena said as she walked back into her cottage continuing to paint, Lissene went in and looked around to see amazing paintings all around her. That was Athena's talent was.

"Are you forgetting something?" Lissene asked as she looked at the painting of Athena's work. It was a sunset. "Yeah, I think I forgot to put more red." Athena said as she smudged her thumb to her painting. Lissene rolled her eyes and said "You were suppose to be at the Masquerade Great Grandball!" Athena snorted and said "I don't need to, your brother can find a bride without me there." it wasn't just any Great Grand ball. It was a ball that Legolas would choose a bride. 

Lissene rolled her eyes again and said "Athena, You promised!" more like whined. Athena sighed and whispered but enough for Lissene to hear "I don't have an amazing gown that will standout, I don't have jewelry that will sparkle on me, I don't have a title to live by.... I am just not a pretty or normal elleth." as she dropped the yellow paint on the floor. 

Lissene kissed her best friend's cheek and said "I understand, Ava would be there." Athena's blood boiled just by the sound of her name. Ava was a very known and rich Elleth in Mirkwood, she was beautiful as Lissene except Ava hair was Silver Blonde since her father is from Forest of Lothlorien and her eyes were all different shades of blue. Ava is the enemy of Athena. Ever since they were little Ava would always torture and tease Athena in every way she can.

Ava was also jealous that Athena's best friend was the Princess. It bothered her and will always bother her. Ava thinks she can get the Prince's attention, by just winking and acting flirtatious. "See! That's another reason why I shouldn't be there." Athena said as she started to cook food, Lissene looked at Athena's drawing book which was filled with drawings of her brother. Lissene smirked and said "You should show my brother your drawings. I think you are the best artist in all of Middle earth. You could have a title!" trying to cheer her up. Athena sighed and smiled "I do have a title now it's just that no one cares about my title." she said.

Lissene sighed and said "I understand Athena, I should get going now before my brother starts another treasure hunt for me." Lissene gave a friendly smile then left the Athena's small cottage.

Athena was cooking, sweating as she tried to make the dough softer, but a few minutes later of mixing and mixing. Athena grew frustrated and threw the bowl of dough to the wall and let out a small cry. She ran her hand through her light orange hair making the flour on her fingers stick to her hair. It was already night and she could already hear the music coming from the palace.

Athena went to her front door and stared at the palace in the distance, seeing the bright lights and hearing the laughter's of people. "I wish just for tonight I could stand out. Be.... Beautiful." Athena whispered to herself. Before Athena could go back to that bloody dinner of hers, a bright light shined. She turned around and saw her mother.

At first she thought she was imagining but as she rubbed her eyes. She know that this was no imagination of hers. "Naneth?" Athena called out, her mother smiled and said "Your wish is my command." as a bright light shined on Athena. She closed her eyes tightly as if she opened her eyes she would go blind but as Athena opened her eyes she was not in her messy simple white dress or her white dirty apron.

She was now in a sparkling white gown,

She had a sparkling mask and white flats. Her hair was flowing gracefully around her shoulder, beautiful Jewelry and light make up. She was also wearing a circlet that's like a necklace and what amazed her is that her hair was no longer light orange. It was now silver, but her eyes were the same and it stood out because of her diamond mask. she looked back to her mother and her mother said "Don't say or reveal your name, because if you do. You will turn back to normal." then she disappeared.

At first Athena was scared but as a beautiful white horse appeared in front of her house. She knew her mother heard her wish. "le hannon Naneth."  (Thank you mom) Athena whispered as she dashed for the horse and rode her way towards the Masquerade Great Grand ball.

"My son, why aren't you dancing with any elleths?" King Thranduil asked his son who was the center of attention of the Grand ball. Legolas sighed and then said "I just haven't found the right Elleth yet." The king laughed and said "How are you suppose to find the right one if you aren't dancing with any elleths?" gesturing to all the elleths around them in their fanciest gown and expensive Jewelries.

"Ava is open." Lissene whispered in Legolas' ear. Legolas looked over to the famous elleth who just winked at him barely wearing the gown that she is wearing. "Son, at least dance with some elleths and get to know them, who knows one might have a good heart. Don't judge on appearances." The King said, "How can I, when they wear their personality and heart in their gowns?" Legolas murmured but the King heard it and shot a look to Legolas.

Legolas is already on the good side of his fathers. He wish not to upset him, he quickly grabbed Lissene and went to the dance floor. He knows that behind him, his father rolled his eyes and laughed. For the sight of Lissene and Legolas dancing never upsets the king. 

"Nice move Prince." Lissene said as they started to dance. "Come on Lissene! Besides you owe me from saving your life from a Warg and not telling Ada." Legolas said, "You also owe Athena but she didn't come here tonight." Lissene said, "Why?" Legolas asked less interested. "She said she has no title, no beauty, no riches to impress you." Lissene said. "She has a high self-esteem." He said sarcastically. "Why does she need to impress me?" Legolas asked, "She likes you brother, she always have. At least don't break her heart." Lissene said. "Athena is still a child. So are you. I babysat you and Athena back when you were just a baby. She is nothing but a little immature child." Legolas said as Lissene made a angry face. "Well, you know what! You can dance with yourself!!" Lissene said as she pushed Legolas by the chest and stormed away. Leaving a very confused Legolas in the middle of the dance floor.

Before he could leave the dance floor something in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He looked to the top of the stair case and saw an elleth he doesn't know, his eyes was glued to this elleth. She was different. She had silver hair with a sparkling mask, and a sparkling white gown and her eyes were grey but the mask she had on made them look white. 

He kept wondering who was this beautiful elleth that was now walking down the stairs. Everyone's eyes were on her. He knew every single elleth in this room, there was Meriel eating almost all the food on the table, then there was Jastra gossiping about anything and everything, then there was Syndra who was comparing herself to everyone, then Shael who was stuck reading her third book tonight then there was the worst Ava who was still looking at me winking, but glared at the beautiful elleth walking down the stairs.

I have to dance with her. Legolas thought to himself. He started to walk towards the beautiful and mysterious girl but before he could talk to the girl who was now surrounded by tons of ellons. Legolas was attacked by Ava. "Prince Legolas, such fate has brought us here tonight." Ava said in her seductive voice. Legolas stood still. "Excuse me for a while Ava." Legolas said as she pushed Ava out of his way. He finally got through all the ellons and showed his bright smile and said "Mae Govannen." Athena then looked at him as if she was about to melt like ice cream.

She couldn't believe that Prince Legolas actually came up to her and started talking "Mae Govannen Prince Legolas." Athena greeted as she bowed. "Please call me Legolas." he said as he also bowed at her. "You know me? Do you have a name beautiful one?" he asked. "Ah, I am not allowed to say my name, just call me Luthien." Athena said not wanting to turn back to normal in front of everyone. "It suits you." Legolas said making Athena blush. 

"May I have this dance?" Legolas asked as he extended his hand. "It will be my pleasure Legolas." Athena said as she grabbed his hand sending a shiver down her spine. They soon started to dance. With everyone's eyes on them, "Are you from around here?" Legolas asked, "Yes, I was actually born here. I have not left the borders of Mirkwood." Athena said saying the truth. "Then why haven't I've seen your face around?" Legolas asked, "Because you haven't been looking. I have seen you a lot of times but you always see right through me." Athena said feeling comfortable with him.

"May you reveal your name at the end of the ball?" Legolas asked, "Maybe, depends if I have fun." Athena said making Legolas smirk. "Challenge accepted." He said twirling her around making her giggle. She has a beautiful smile, cute giggle, her eyes were amazing, her voice is like music to my ears and her scent of Lavender drives me insane, Legolas thought.

They danced and danced for hours, with elleths glaring at Athena. Nobody knew it was Athena but Athena herself. In the middle of the dance Legolas then said "Maybe you want to take a break?" Athena nodded as they made their way to the side. "I'll be back, my father is calling me." Legolas said as he left Athena on the side. Suddenly someone came over to Athena "You look familiar." Athena turned around to see Lissene. "Really? Because I know you better than you know yourself Lissene future wife of one of the Rivendell Twins." Athena said as she smiled at Lissene.

"Oh my Eru!! Is that you A--" Before Lissene could say her name, Athena quickly covered her mouth and whispered "Don't say my name or I'll turn back to normal." "Can't believe it's you!" Lissene said with joy as Athena released her mouth. "Long story." Athena said "My brother likes you. I can see it in his eye.s" Lissene said as she hugged her best friend. "I know, but I can never tell him who I really am." Athena said as she made a sad face. "Why not?" Lissene whined "I'm just Cinderella for one night Lissene, for the rest of my life I'll be just my normal self." Athena said, making Lissene sad with her.

"Well, well, well where is your friend Lissene?" Ava asked as she came stalking to Athena and Lissene. With Jastra and Syndra beside her. "She's not here, so what?" Lisssne said, Ava laughed and said "So you replaced her with this thing that is stealing my prince?" "Your prince? You wish. It's Legolas going to her not her going after Legolas." Lissene shot back. Ava rolled her eyes but before she could say anything King Thranduil was about to announce something,

"My people!! Welcome again! I thank you for being here tonight for this night my eldest son will choose a bride. And he has told me, he already has someone in mind." He announced making Athena worried and nervous. Legolas came in view as he was about to announce something also. Athena then started walking towards the exit. Athena knew that Legolas was looking for her and before she could disappear Legolas shouted "LUTHIEN!" making Athena turn around facing a confused Legolas. "Are you leaving?" he asked, "I have to... I'm late." she said as she disappeared making everyone gasp and gossip about what had just happened.

She got out as the cold night hit her skin making goosebumps spread everywhere on her body. The white horse wasn't anywhere to be seen so she continued running but before she could run any farther, someone grabbed her arm and spun her around, Athena then came face to face with the one and only Legolas. Athena then blushed and tried to not make eye contact with him, but Legolas put his fingers under her chin and lifted her face up so he could come eye to eye with her. "Why are you running away from me?" He asked as his warm breath hit her skin making the goosebumps worse. "I'm not." Athena whispered, "Please stay." he whispered back as their noses touched doing an Eskimo kiss. "I can't reveal my identity." Athena whispered "I'm only Cinderella for one night." she whispered again but slowly their lips were getting closer and closer, inch by inch. Athena has been waiting for this moment for a long time. She has been patient and finally the moment was here.

Many moments of her and Legolas came to her head, like the time he babysat her, or the time he told her she couldn't play with him and his friends, the time she would always go to the Archery field just to watch him shoot, and especially the time he saved her life from the warg.

She can't live without Legolas but the problem is he can live without her. 

Suddenly the moment she has been waiting for came, his lips was more than what she imagined was better than what she fantasized. It was much more than she ever dreamed of. 

Athena was finally kissing Legolas, They both enjoyed the kiss and Legolas started to deepened the kiss making Athena moan, but before they could go any further Athena knew it was wrong, it was wrong to kiss him and even more then leave him. Athena pushed back and said "I'm sorry Legolas, but I can't tell you who I am." "Why not?" Legolas sighed but all Athena did was back off and whispered "Sorry." again she ran with Legolas on her tail once she was far away from Legolas she quickly said her name and turned back to normal.

She was back in her messy white dress and dirty apron and her hair still had yellow paint and flour. Then Legolas saw Athena, "Athena! Have you seen a beautiful elleth, with Silver hair?" He asked Athena, "No I haven't Prince Legolas." Athena replied, Legolas put his hands on his head in a sign of frustration. "Was she your bride my lord?" Athena asked wondering what she was to Legolas "She's someone special, someone different, someone who I could love." He said, but what Athena truly was to Legolas was nothing. "Oh, such a waste to lose her." Athena said as she tried to hold back the blush that she has been keeping.

"No, I will find her. I will not rest till I find her." he said as he walked away leaving an Athena full of fear. Wondering how she got in this situation in the first place.

It was early in the morning and Athena was up getting her dirty clothes in her basket so she could wash her clothes at the River. She was still sleepy but she had to do some work around her small cottage. She lazily carried her basket, kicked her front door opened, closed it and locked it then started walking towards the River.

"ATHENA!" Princess Lissene called her best friend. Athena turned around seeing her running in her purple dress holding a piece of paper. "Good morning to you too!!" Athena said as she nodded then started walking again towards the River. "Athena, listen! Do you know who my brother is looking for?" She asked as if her life depended on it. Athena rolled her eyes and pretended it didn't affect her when deep inside she was screaming and jumping.

"She is looking for the silver haired Elf." she said with joy as she spun around accidentally falling into the river. Athena laughed out loud and said "Well, great news! The silver haired elf isn't coming back." "Why?" Lissene asked as she crawled back on the grass floor. "Because it wasn't me that night! Physically yeah but you know what I mean." Athena said as she started to soak her clothes in the River. "Yeah but--" Lissene was cut off by her older brother coming towards them.

"Athena! Lissene! I need your help." Legolas said, Lissene quickly stood up while Athena just continued washing her clothes. "What do you need help in? Me and Athena would love to help, right Athena?" Lissene said as she elbowed Athena in the stomach. "Yeah, we'll see what we can do. I have many chores to do." Athena said. "Wow! You sound more mature." Lissene said as she shot Athena a look. "Guys, I need to find this girl, silver haired Elleth." he said as he looked in the distance. "Any clues?" Lissene asked "She said she is from around here, and she sees me all the time but every time she is near me I look right through her." he said, making Athena tremble a bit. Scared that he might find out that it is her.

"We will help you brother, don't you worry." Lissene said, Athena sighed and smiled telling them that she is in.

-------------------------------------Few months later.

People tried their best to look for the silver haired Elleth but no luck, well that's because Athena pretended she was looking for her too. Pretending she wasn't her.

Athena was walking through the hall ways pretending to be looking for her, she sometimes would laugh because it always sounded funny. "ATHENA!" Lessene shouted again. "What?" Athena asked but nothing came out of Lissene as she grabbed Athena by the arm and dragged her away. She soon found out that everyone was gathered in the throne room. Legolas was near the fire place staring at the fire as if it was the most boring thing ever.

"What's going on?" Athena asked Lissene as they got closer but still nothing came out of Lissene. "My people! My son has an announcement." King Thranduil shouted in his royal voice. Legolas stood up straight and went into the middle. "I am tired... sad.... depressed...... and broken." as he said those words to his people, Athena flinched not wanting to think about how he felt.

Athena felt that also but was always good at hiding it, her fear was stronger than her pain. Her fear of Legolas finding out that she was the Silver haired Elleth. Would he take her in his arms or throw her away.

"She is no where to be found, so I have decided to leave Mirkwood and travel through Middle Earth so I could forget this pain that is taking over my life the ring of Sauron has been found and it is my duty to fight for Mirkwood but after that I won't be home for a while." he said making people talk. "Athena... please, you must reveal yourself. My brother is in pain and he is leaving, it would be pain not for only me and my family but for you also." Lissene whispered shaking Athena's arm like a little child. "I don't want my brother to die knowing the Elleth that he loves doesn't love him back. Please Athena." Lissene begged.

"This is Good bye my people!" Legolas said as other Elleths started calling his name or crying, Athena stood there wondering what should she do, she was torn between keeping quiet and running to the one man that holds her heart. She took one look at Legolas and all the memories came flooding in her mind. She didn't want this to be just a memory, she wanted to live her life everyday like this, with him.

Before Legolas could walk away, not from the people of Mirkwood but from her life, this was the only moment she could have with him. She didn't know what will happen in the War of Middle Earth but one thing was for sure, she didn't wanted to be remembered by Legolas as his younger sister's best friend, she wanted him to remember her as the one he loves, the one who is waiting for him to return home, to her.

"WAIT!" Athena shouted

Legolas stopped and turned around, Athena stepped out of the crowd and Legolas stared at her with boredom. "What?" he asked, Athena didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to do. This was spontaneous, something she didn't quite do often or never do. Everybody was looking at her, expecting an answer but once her eyes met Legolas she found the courage to say something.

"My name is Athena." She said as she stood in the middle of the room like an awkward peacock. Some people started to laugh. "We all know your name sweetheart, there's no need to do something like that." King Thranduil said as he laughed. Legolas looked at the ground, knowing nothing of what Athena meant. "Legolas." Athena called out, making some people gasped by just calling him by his name. Only a few people only called him by his name. "Look into my eyes." she said, Legolas hesitantly looked into her eyes as she said "My name is Athena."

Then it hit Legolas, it hit him like running into a brick wall. Her eyes, the silver haired elleth's eyes were Athena's eyes. Athena was the Silver haired elleth. All the memories of Athena came rushing through his head, "You're the silver haired elleth." He said making people gasp all around, it was too much for Legolas. Yes, he would love the Silver haired elleth no matter what but knowing it's Athena was too much for him. He never thought as Athena in such a way but as he remembered the kiss, he quickly falls for her, for Athena.

Instead of rushing to her and pulling her into his arms. He turned away and walked out. Everyone started to talk again, once Legolas was out of view. Everyone started to tease Athena, saying she was a loser and didn't deserve Legolas.

Athena stood there with tears in her eyes and a heart that was slowly breaking.

----------------------------------------Few years later

A few years have passed, Lissene finally got married to one of the Rivendell Twins, Elrohir. Legolas didn't came back, the news just came that the ring of Sauron has been destroyed. Everybody celebrated and danced in Mirkwood.

But soon everything went back to normal. Athena was now Captain of Mirkwood's army. Athena still did her work at the small cottage, living her life as a normal elleth would except she was now holding weapons everywhere she went.

On a normal day, Athena went out to help her people rebuild there homes that was destroyed by the Orcs and spiders. "Thank you Athena! You are such an Angel." an elleth mother said to Athena as Athena helped carry buckets full of rocks. "No problem! It is my pleasure." Athena said as she set down the buckets.

"Athena." Someone whispered Athena's name but it was enough to get everyone's attention due to the sorrow in someone's voice. Athena turned around in her green gown and her orange hair that fell all the way to her hips but as she turned around with a smile, her smile suddenly faded.

There stood Legolas in his war outfit.

with tears.

Everyone was looking at Legolas and to Athena, Ava stood at the side hiding her face with her round stomach and a small child at her side. Lissene came out from the palace hand in hand with her husband but once she saw Legolas and Athena just a few feet from each other, they both stopped.

Legolas dropped to his knees and whispered while tears poured from his face "I'm sorry." most of the people gasped at what happened. Athena then had tears falling down her flawless face. She never thought she see the day that Legolas was on his knees apologizing for what he did years ago. Athena cried many nights thinking about him, only him.

She loved him,

and until this very day she still loved him.

Athena ran towards Legolas falling to her knees right in front of him. "I forgive you." she whispered as she wrapped her arms around his neck. and he wrapped his around her waist. They pulled away and leaned in and kissed.

People started to applaud, finally the Prince had return, he finally found his bride and Mirkwood's lovely and beautiful Captain was his bride.

"I know I don't know you that much Athena, but I will get to know you but as of now, I love you Athena." Legolas said as he pulled away from the kiss. "I love you Legolas." Athena replied and they shared a kiss again.

And till that day and on, everyday is a day of happiness and adventure, and they lived ever aft--- Oops!

I mean, and they lived Happily forever.
